The Dreamer [FULL ALBUM]
0:00 - The Void
5:13 - Ant Colony Assembly Line
8:26 - Landscape of Mechanical Wind
20:44 - Chewed Up, Spit Out
23:18 - No Rest for the Weary
32:57 - I Watched My Body Turn To Mush
38:54 - Chasm of Inferno
48:38 - Somnus, Aloft
This is an album I made for around a year and a half using a library of sounds I had gathered over a long while. The sources ranged from a vast library of loops and soundscapes I had made over many many years, sounds I found online and plenty of samples from films, games and other music. The sounds were then mangled, ripped apart and cobbled back together into a seamless 52-minute Frankenstein monster that I cut into 8 tracks where I saw fit. I didn't have any access to a DAW during this long process but I have owned and used Final Cut Pro X for around 15 years so I decided to approach this album in much the same way I would make a film - laying all the many hundreds of audio tracks in a FCP timeline and stacking them on top of each other until they sounded how I wanted. As one would expect, this was a massive headache and a process I would never recommend anyone else to try.
I had absolutely no clue what I was doing and I'm still as clueless now as I was when I first conceived the project, but I hope the love and passion I put into it is felt through the music and hopefully connects with some of you.
Thanks for checking it out, I hope you enjoy!

A man's surreal odyssey to obtain a cup of Jell-O which he desperately craves. Short film I wrote and directed, shot over the course of a day with a small crew of about 10 people. Shot on the Blackmagic Ursa Mini with Rokinon Cine lenses and Zeiss Compact Prime lenses. Music done by Joseph Wright.
This is superb! It reminds me of 23 Skidoo's classic "The Culling is Coming". Superb stuff sir!
@@megalithix Thank you! Never listened to that one but will check it out!
Have you ever heard of David Lynch by chance? Ha, this was great!
David who? Haha thank you!!
The cinematography is so cool. Great work 👏🏼👌🏼
Thank you very much! Did you have any favorite shots?
@@TheRodriguezFilms every shot! 😊
I hope someday you make a feature based on this, wish you best of luck
Great short film broo!
Thank you! I'm very proud of how it turned out.
@@TheRodriguezFilms Dude, you have so much potential. I can see it. Keep working on this way!
@@danielgdegomez Thank you so much! I'm currently developing a feature film!
Honestly one of the best and most well made short films I've ever seen. From cinematography, to sound design, score, effects, costumes and sets. All flawless IMO. Totally felt like a big budget production (and you did it on 150,- I read) Just ridiculously impressive!
Thank you so much!!! I super appreciate it! Any favorite scenes or shots?
@@TheRodriguezFilms I particularly enjoyed the pan-out shot at 15:47. Beautiful framing and focus. But there are tons of great shots in this short. All the shots with effects in them had me in awe (11:55 for example.).
Good job, man! Very creepy. That railway tunnel...wow.
Thank you!!
The best short i've seen this year Keep it up!
Thanks so much!!
I think making the audio more distorted would help the atmosphere, kinda like the audio in Eraserhead. But other than that, this is pretty fucking awesome!
I experimented with that a bunch but didn't really like how it sounded, but thank you!! Did you have any favorite parts or shots?
That was really good. just ‘liked’ it on Letterboxd btw .
Oh thank you!! Did you have any favorite scenes or shots or vice versa?
Rodriguez Films I don’t really have a favorite scene but my favorite aspect is definitely the sound design.
Any favorite sound effects or moments of sound? I personally really love how the train sounds came out.
Rodriguez Films Agreed; the train sounds were pretty good
this gives me extreme eraserhead vibes
Thanks! Eraserhead is one of my favorites of all time
it truly proves the extent of the power of imagination in cinema. love the short. I had to revisit it 🤣
great film man, also funny it was posted on international workers day
The fx were jarringly real ngl, this was very unsettling. Well done!
Thank you!
Rodriguez Films My pleasure! Keep up the momentum!!
This is a really great short film, it has a very distinct mood, and immersive nightmarish quality, also 11:55 what a shot.
Thank you so much!
Great job
Thanks!
A stylistic celluloid sheen!
Thank you!
I love that the sleep medicine was prescribed by Dr. Caligari, made me really happy to see that, awesome touch to a great short film! Great job!
That's thanks to my amazing art director! Also "800 Winslow Dr." was in reference to Rob Pattinson in The Lighthouse. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it
@@TheRodriguezFilms I have yet to see The Lighthouse but now I'm more hyped to see it! Kross Kaai did a fantastic job!
this is beautiful! loved every second of it, the meat pile shot won't be leaving my mind anytime soon which im perfectly ok with. amazing soundscape also
Thank you!!
It's maybe one of the best shorts ever made
Oh my gosh thank you so much!!
Eraserhead vibes
