The Heroic Story of Harriet Tubman | Told by Living History Performer Glynis Brooks
In this video, Glynis Brooks takes center stage with her powerful one-woman show about the legendary Harriet Tubman. Watch as Glynis brings to life key moments from Tubman’s extraordinary journey-her ingenious disguises that helped her sneak past slave owners via the Underground Railroad; her perilous escapes where bloodhounds were on her trail; her history making leadership commanding a raid in America's Civil War; and her inspirational advocacy for women's suffrage and human rights. Glynis’s performance not only pays tribute to Tubman’s resilience but also captures the relentless spirit of a woman who continually redefined herself-becoming a spy, a nurse, and a beacon of hope.
Following her mesmerizing performance, Glynis sits down for an in-depth interview where she reveals the creative process behind the piece. She shares how her research began with children’s books, piecing together the myths and truths of Tubman’s life, and discusses the overwhelming challenges of writing about such a monumental figure. Encouraged by Tubman’s relentless courage, Glynis explains how she learned to take her work one step at a time, ultimately creating a performance that makes us see ourselves in the light of extraordinary history. Join us as we explore the making of this unforgettable tribute and the inspiring journey of both Harriet Tubman and Glynis Brooks. @whoelseloveshistory

If that were me, it would have been a totally different story! In the words of Malcolm , it's not natural for a man to turn the other cheek. Just to let another man smack you on that cheek! In other words, i would have taken a few out of here! By any means necessary!!!
I feel like this is pretty damn obvious of a concept

Wait til you learn how the Romans wiped their asses in public toilets. Hint :it was very ecological
Did they use ash from any type of wood or are there specific types of wood they used to get their ash?
Good to know 😉
Pot ash(ium)?
Ash + water =lye = nixtamalizes the hard husks of starchy corn. Tamales and corn tortillas uses nixtamalized corn dough/masa.

Love watching this
It would make it rise because of the presence of Lime Calcium in the wood ashes. A moist lump of wood ashes, in the shape of a meatball, when baked in a 900° + kiln will “ calcify “ the wood ash ball into slaked lime. This slaked lime has caustic qualities and can be used to bond sand and stone aggregate to make cement and concrete.
What a I price to pay
Thank you ❤
All the Confederates were losers and traitors.

God Bless our military and veterans who have protected the United States every day 🙏
And the ash doesn't taste bad either. It just tastes like flour.
My sister belongs a cult off shoot of the Catholic Church and the priest spoke at her house to a group of 6th graders and denied that the Holocaust ever happened. The pope had excommunicated the priests but they have huge congregation in Idaho. Needless to say we are not speaking. Antisemitism is on the rise and it is horrifying.

An absolute delight! And I love these background pieces that TCM does on particular films and those who contributed to their making. I know I'm not the first to wonder about this, but I don't understand why MGM didn't hold this gem back for special television showings (or even theatrical re-releases), the way they did the "The wizard of Oz"?
Id make her meat broth😅
