I also believe the casino was fully demolished a few weeks after the attack because of the casino being structurally damaged beyond repair. It was then fully rebuilt with the current more modern exterior glass style.

I was 7 years old then. I lived on Kingsbury grade and remember we were all outside waiting for the explosion. We could feel it at our house. It rocked the area. So loud.

I remember the day this happened, and saw the news footage of it going off.

My grandparents worked at Harvey’s, the arcade was my babysitter. Here are a few points that are rarely discussed in the coverage of the Harvey's Bombing. The owner, Harvey Grossman, had for years, wanted to renovate his hotel, but due to the influence held by his competitors (Namely Harrah's, across the street from Harvey's) Harvey was repeatedly denied the permits required. So the bombing was actually doing Harvey a huge favor by having the bomb destroy the casino, so not only could Harvey update and expand, but also finance it with insurance money that also compensated him for lost income during the rebuild. After the bombing, my grandparents took their compensation packages and we moved to Idaho.

A friend of mine was in Tahoe that weekend and witnessed the blast. His standing joke for years was that he didn't know slot machines could fly! I was up there the next weekend and saw the damage to the front entrance. Surprisingly the casino was open! So I spent some time slinging nickels in the one armed bandits next to a gaping hole in one wall of the casino covered by large drapes!

That does not even come close to looking like a copy machine.

Missing some facts but still good video. I was a bomb disposal technician at the time, employed by a municipal public safety agency. There were some of us who thought there was an approach to render the device safe but obviously no one ever discussed it with us. Pity.
