    I believe the edges simply reflect the color u chose. They mix the white with the gray solid all the way through. They aren't scratched. if you had picked a natural stone with a similar coloring/veining you would have the same thing.

    Gas stove/ cooktop… we got rid of our electric cooktop years ago and put in gas lines for the huge gas cooktop. Worst decision ever! Being from Europe gas cooktops were fantastic but in the us gas is super hot and far away from the actual pans. This also makes for a super messy cooktop after cooking. I wish we would have splurged and gone with high end induction. Love to read I am not the only detailed peep out there:-)

      I totally agree, my parents used to have gas stove. It was good but cleaning was hard. I like the electric stove that can be simply wiped without taking off bunch of metal.

    That tile job in the shower was completely unprofessional. He should have apologized profusely and done it over for free. Literally no one who is proud of his craft and wants referrals would have left it in that condition. It's the height of arrogance for contractors to just ignore their customers because they think they know everything. I hope you leave a horrible Yelp review for that incompetent person, so that hopefully other homeowners won't get stuck with such shoddy quality work.

    Just some ideas: for the door swing, I'm wondering if you could just reverse how the door is hung so that it swings either INTO the bedroom if that is feasible, or swings into the bathroom but from the other side of the door frame. Also, I know how disappointing the tile layout of the shower walls looks to your own eye, and that the bathroom is just for you and the husband, but it really is pretty and unless you mention it to others, not many people would notice. The irony of you showing all of us on TH-cam is not lost on me...haha. Also, with the sink clearance, keep in mind that if you "beef up" the walls with more drywall, you will need a backsplash like the one behind the sink, so don't make your walls overly thick, or you'll lose more counter space. Maybe there is a way to just put something down the sides from the counter down, and then run a backsplash along the top edge to hide it?

    • @meerimmoldali416
      @meerimmoldali416 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, we changed the door swing. It swings into the bedroom luckily it works and no obstacle is there. About the tile, I think nobody notices it unless I point out and if someone notices, people thought it was on purpose (at least my sister and brother said so😅). Regarding the two sides of the vanity countertop, I got exact same backsplash as the countertop and thinking about cutting and placing it on both sides. The small issue here, the backsplash is not as thick as the gap between the wall and the countertop. Maybe silicone will do the job but still not sure.

    • @meerimmoldali416

      Solid surface countertop from BC stones. Color/design is Ice Statuario if I am spelling correctly.

    • @patricknourse9995
      @patricknourse9995 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      A quick internet search says Wilson Art has that color of solid surface. I am guessing that is the color/brand and BC stones is where you purchased the countertop.

    Hi, I am just kinda wondering why instead of waiting 3 months, you didn't just hire someone to cut you some plywood counter tops for temporary use? Typically I wouldn't ask such a silly question, but you guys said you're investors. Did you stay in your main property for the 3 months? Or did you live out of a rental for that time?

    • @meerimmoldali416
      @meerimmoldali416 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We saved and used the old countertop for 3 months. That did not cover all the new counter space. Also, we had dishwasher working but no sink attached to the water. Basically we were using powder room to get water 🥲. I think to make our life easier I could ask to leave the old sink as well and reconnect to water. In addition, I should have purchased some plywood, cut it and use as a countertop. I just didn’t expect that it would take so much time. We had renovations going on in the rental property and our kitchen in parallel so we stayed at home.

      @rosieposie9564 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, I do not want to hurt Meerim's feelings but I sincerely think the countertop looks quite bad near the cabinets. Cool whites against warm whites just makes the warm white look dirty and the cool white look harsh, they are each beautiful whites on their own but not together. In her position, I think if I could afford it then I would definitely seek to change either the countertop or the cabinets, perhaps it might even be possible to get them professionally painted. This is a very useful video and the best I have watched on this topic.

    I am stuck getting a new refrigerator because mine broke down and isn't worth fixing. But now I have to decide what finish to choose, and the refrigerator I really want is only available in stainless steel, which I don't want. I'm gonna be redoing my kitchen, soon, and will be getting a range, and I don't want it in stainless steal. Kinda thinking since my refrigerator is on a wall with the pantry, I can tie it in some other way. I am so stressed out, though, and I am worried I will regret my choice. I just don't want to get a slightly less nice refrigerator and pay actually more money for it, in order to get a different finish. And... this is how I found your video, lol. Thank you for sharing where you feel you went wrong. I actually think it looks really nice, but I know it's a pain when things don't work perfectly how you expect or imagine them. Live and learn, and be stressed out (like me). Nice job, though, for real.

    The other thing that could have been done to prevent the vinyl planks moving, would be a simple strip of quad nailed to the floor across the end of the planks to restrain them, and then everything else put together as it is. That is a risk of any floating floor product - if one edge is not restrained, there's nothing stopping the whole assembly from drifting into the vacant space and opening up gaps all over.

    You could remove the base board then cut back the vinyl plank thus making it into two pieces . Might be a bit fiddley to do but should work. Put your cutting boards standing upwards next to the microwave to fill the gap.

    Please take your garbage container to the left side, then take your tea towel bar to the other side this will protect your other door from hitting. Another solution for your mixer and other kitchen gadgets that require hydro, add an extension cord to your microwave outlet, by drilling a hole big enough to plug in the cord place the 6 outlet socket your require by attaching the extension to the outside cabinet under your counter [top ]so no one can see it

      I have a garbage disposal on the left and I can’t really fit the garbage bin. I can squeeze a small bin but that is not very practical as well. For the electrical outlet, I am changing the electrical panel and adding more lines to ensure that it provides enough power. (We tried to extend from the existing outlet but then I could not use two appliances at the same time because the power would go out. Switch on electric panel turns off basically.)

    Thank you for sharing your experiences... it's very helpful now that we are starting our remodel. Could I ask you what kind of sink you have? Also, maybe an induction stove could be a good option for you? You won't need to get a gas line, but you do need to make sure that you have enough amperage to support the power needs of induction. Thanks again!

      Yes, Undermount Workstation Kitchen Sink amzn.to/3ZveWtq. I am looking into induction stoves but I am still not quite sure. I have never used it and it is quite pricy ($2000 or higher from what I saw). On the other hand, gas stove is about $1200 and running the gas line is about $1000, so total is about the same.

    Yeah one of the worst mistakes: not measuring everything. Window moulding, door trim, no space between island cabinets for outlets or ventilation, not measuring your microwave or appliances. Measure, measure, measure.

    Im redoing my kitchen now and found your video helpful. You should easily be able add an outlet to the side of your peninsula by wiring it from the microwave outlet

      We will be remodeling our bathrooms in a month and I’ll definitely ask my contractor to fix my outlet issues in the kitchen as well.
