Hello everyone,
Welcome to our channel “IntroMech”.
The main Content on the channel includes topics related to: -
\tMachine Design Consideration
When you actually design the any machine/mechanism a lot of parameters like material, machine size, pneumatics etc. are required to be considered.
\tOnline Calculation Tools
For designing any machine some calculations are required. Many times, it is not possible to have hand calculations. So, we discuss about many online digital tools that will help for optimum product selection.
\tComponent Selection
There are a lot of components like actuators, grippers, shock absorbers, sensors etc. required for machine building. So, what are the inputs required for the selection of these components and what are the outputs of these components, everting you will find on our channel.
So do check out, like the videos, subscribe the channel and don't forget to hit the bell icon to get the notifications for upcoming content...!!!👍

Respected sir, i request you to please start one detailed series on any kind of real project of special purpose machine design in the solid work from concept to final product that includes customers several inputs. Looking forward to hearing from you. 😊
I am working on a similar project and will try to cover this in the future series. Stay connected and keep sharing!
Why consider the number of fingers? The gripping area of the fingers should be what matters. If you have 3 fingers but smaller area this will be incorrect? Correct me if I am wrong
Friction is independent of area of contact. But it will be dependent on number of fingers and coefficient of friction.
@@IntroMech562 yes that is true, I did not think that far. Thank you for your answer.
@@IntroMech562 when the area increases the pressure decreases so it evens out! Thank you for your answer, it motivated me to learn more about mechanics.
@@IntroMech562 but can you please explain why the friction is dependent on the number of fingers?
@@OskarGustafsson97 If you check carefully the gripper catalogues it will mention the "Effective gripper force per finger" (It will also vary for internal and external gripping). The gripping force is the arithmetic sum of the individual forces acting on the gripper’s fingers. Also, just for additional knowledge if you are designing the fingers in such a way that it is providing "capture grip" then friction is not required to hold the part.
Hai sir is there any online class available
Sorry but no online classes are available!
I have a question about this. Do automation companies actually buy these tools, or make them in house from the CAD model they get from the site? I believe SMC is expensive and making it in house will be much cheaper. Whats your experience in this case and in other tools also like vacuum system etc
This is not the case. In automation accuracy, precision, repeatability etc matters a lot. Also the companies like SMC,Festo are specicialized manufactureres of these products. Also when you have these type of standard products in the machine , serviceability is easier. You can replace the component if needed with another standard component. If you are manufacturing these products then quality is the biggest challenge. One more problem is customer will ask for the standard components from such type of specialized manufactures only as they also want to have stadardization in their machines. I hope this will clear your doubt.

Yes Amit , definitely 👍
How to caclulate gt1 gr1 and ga1 and how to cacluate velocity and acceleration
1) gt1 gr1 and ga1these values are dependent on your system design like mounting plate dimension, shape , orientation etc. 2) The velocity will be dependent on system cycle time and which drive system you are using. The rails can be driven with Ball/lead screw and motor. So based on that velocity and acceleration can be calculated. For more understanding check these videos also:- th-cam.com/video/6vVo9Kl_QWs/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Q_3qkLC_2eQ/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/6MITnyAWAxQ/w-d-xo.html

Sir how to know deflection in the body within permissible limit and what about meshing ..
1) For deflection, you have to check that how much deflection is permissible in your application. 2)The results from the SolidWorks might not be fully accurate as the software has its own limitations. Yes, the mesh size/type matters a lot and for detailed analysis you can go with Ansys. Mesh convergence Study is required to be done for more accurate results.
Sir how to know the deflection of beam and stress are within permissible limit.
@sagar 1) For deflection, you have to check that how much deflection is permissible in your application. 2) For stress, you can check the value with yield strength of the material. if the induce stress in the body at some section is greater than the yield strength of the material, the part will undergo a permanent deformation. This is not required. this can also be corelated with Factor of safety. You can also get results for FOS and can decide whether the stress is within the permissible limit or not.

How to get the values of rail span and block span ?
The rail span and Block span will be dependent on your mounting plate dimensions and the space availability in your design. So as per your design those values should be considered.!
How to select materials for fixture components?
The material selection depends on many factors. It depends on the material of job. If you are using some location/resting pins those should not damage the parts. The fixture plate if it is removable you need to think about its weight. Lot of factors are there. I will try to cover some of the points in some other video. Thank you for the suggestion!!!
