Influenced by his Cypriot and Cuban family heritage, composer Alexandros Darna creates works that are often a vibrant blend of Cuban dance rhythms and Hellenic musical idioms. Whether he is writing an orchestral work, an opera, or 8- bit chiptune music, Alexandros incites the audience to wonder.
A few of Alexandros’ latest collaborators include Miriam Charney and the MSM Contemporary Opera Ensemble, Kyle Ritenauer and the MSM Symphony Orchestra, Ronnie Oliver and the MSM Chamber Choir, and the Windscape Ensemble, among others. Most recently, Alexandros arranged music for twenty-eight-time gold and platinum album vocalist (IFPI Greece) Alkistis Protopsalti. His work for film includes three short films.
Splitting his time between two of his favorite islands-Manhattan, New York and Cyprus- Alexandros is currently pursuing a degree at The Juilliard School (MM). Alexandros holds a degree in Classical Composition from the Manhattan School of Music (BM).

Fables were considered the initial exercise in prose composition and public speaking, known as the "progymnasmata," during ancient Greek education. Students were required to learn fables, expand upon them, create new ones, and ultimately use them as convincing examples in longer forensic or deliberative speeches. Educators had to teach a broad range of fables to students for this purpose, which led to the compilation of collections like Aesop's fables.
I have always held a deep admiration for Aesop's fables and have fond memories of reading them as a child. The valuable lessons contained within these timeless tales have stayed with me throughout my life and continue to inspire me to this day.
