Loving the bike helmet, safety first 😂
It is mad when I look back on this. No life jacket and one oar 🤣 but it’s fine, I’ve got my hard hat on 😜
In old magazine found reference to five Heatons . Moor , Chapel , Mersey ,Norris and Reddish . Lived in Reddish for 35 years and never heard it called Heaton . Any comments ?? 😢
Hmm, new one on me, never heard of Reddish being called one of the Heatons, just the ‘four Heatons’ we know of
0:01 Even from being a kid in the '70s and '80s, long before the M60 was a thing, sighting those flats meant you were almost at Stretford, and about to come off the motorway. Better than any road sign for preparing you to get on the inside lane! ;)
First time I tried to drive to the Trafford on my own after passing my test I got totally lost and ended up somewhere in Eccles
Every week or so I check Reddit Stockport, to catch up on what's going on in my new UK base. One of the new threads today was in response to a question about what Romiley is like. I realised I didn't have the foggiest. I've spent about three days of my entire life on the east side of Stockport. School sponsored walk along the canal in 1980. and disabled access surveys for the council at Werneth Low and Etherow Country Park in 1985. So I thought "I bet Jamie's done a vid!", Googled "JotHaGie Romiley" and hey presto! Here I am :)
Nice dad of a sweet child --- Greetings from Germany :-)
Ich tue mein Bestes, sie ist mein Schatz. Und vielen Dank fürs Ansehen unseres Videos. Alles Gute x
I went to a really crap illegal rave held at the cottages at 9.55. Must have been 1991 or 92 😂
lol, what a fantastic setting though!!
11:41 I didn't know you were into "haikyo" (廃墟). It's a big leisure pursuit, among urban explorers and TH-camrs here, but just depresses the heck out of me. Suppose they're good fun to visit on Hallowe'en though. With Japan's shrinking populace there are loads of them here. One house right near me is COMPLETELY covered, and I mean every inch, in vines, ivy, creepers and other undergrowth. Britain, with not enough houses to go around should get right on the case, with houses like this - what a shame! All the best anyway. Nice to see you uploading after a likkle break :)
Ta! Yeah, don’t mind a bit of urbex. The M60 walk continues. Already done a few more bits, just need editing. It’s just trying to find a dry day when I’m off work to squeeze it all into my busy schedule
Thanks for this its wonderful
Ta, Gary. Was a good adventure
My first home was Reddish, H2 1970s, after that Heaton Moor. My first school was North Reddish Infants - is that different from the one in this video? I remember reading that it was bought by some business man. If I could time travel, I'd go back to those days - a major nostalgia trip. Talking of which, I plan to go and visit those two areas next summer and cycle around my old haunts, including Reddish Vale.
Nice view
Thank you
very good
No rain cover or coat and it’s pissing down why bring the kid? Wtf
I was gonna say the same thing! Dads there in his waterproof jacket, hood up saying he knew it was going to rain and he's planned for it. The little girl has no raincover on, No coat, blanket warm jumper not even a pair of shoes on.
@@JustDaniel6764 And he’s posting this child neglect to TH-cam😂

Cheers, Munmum, I appreciate it
nice
Cheers, bud. Was a good walk
1:08 Field Maple - the only species of maple native to Britain, I believe. Nice to see James riding shotgun again! Well done, hitting 1K! How rough is Moston? A bloke I knew moved there and heard about how rough it is so bought a Rottweiler - and somebody nicked the Rottweiler!
Hi! Thanks a lot for the video, especially the location of that "krakow-prokocim" station. But I'm still wondering about 3 places. First, the "krakow-płaszow" station where Oscar showered the jews inside the train using wat😮er pipe. Second, the location where Amon failed to shoot down Rabbi Lewartow. And third, the street where Poldek took off his star band before entering St. Basilica Church. Did you find them out already?
I’m pretty sure the Płaszów scenes were also at the Kamienna Street location, just a different platform. As for the other two, leave it with me. I’ve a few books on the making of Schindler’s List, I’ll do some research and let you know
@@JotHaGie I appreciate and look forward to it. After replaying your videos while thoroughly searching on Google Immerse View, I found the "płaszow station". You're right, it was inside the PKP Cargo S.A complex at Kamienna Street. I actually have a plan visiting Krakow at the end of this year with my husband to follow the Schindler's List trails. Still working on the Schengen visa, though. Wish us luck 😅🤞 Your videos help me a lot especially about those hidden places.
Lovely shirt - and a breast pocket for your darts! ;) Too bad the samurai has gone, but thanks to you we have proof he was once there! Domo Arigato Gozaimashita :)
Cheers, fella! Need to get my @rse out and do some more, it’s been a while
Raised here moved when had tue chance lol nothing there atall 🫣😅
great video!
Cheers, Sully!
4:52 Among many other buildings you've walked by, in "de Pewel", this building looks like the "Aka Renga Soko" (赤レンガ底 - Red Brick Warehouses) in Yokohama, where I occasionally head to, for a wander when I'm feeling a bit homesick (there aren't many red brick buildings in Japan, because of the earthquakes, so it's amazing the red brick warehouses of Yokohama are still standing, after a century and a half). Also, Yokohama, a port city like Liverpool even has its own version of the Three Graces (Wikipedia: Yokohama Three Towers), so it's fun for me to spot the similarities between the two cities - and there are many. I highly recommend you read Yukio Mishima's "The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea", if you haven't already done, as it evokes postwar Yokohama brilliantly, especially the districts of Motomachi, and Yamashita-cho, on the harbourfront, which are beautifully maintained with a mid 20th century vibe, but anyone who knows and likes port cities would relate to it, from the cosmopolitan vibe, to the sound of the foghorns on the ocean liners. It's a real tonic, being able to walk by the water, wherever one may be, whether in Yokohama, Tokyo Bay, or on the Mersey, whether it be where it meanders through Stockport and south Manchester, or where it meets the Irish Sea, so it's been lots of fun watching you get all the way to Liverpool Bay - well done!
Cheers, Johnny! I also wasn’t aware at the time of the Peaky Blinders connections at the Tobacco Warehouse, a lot was filmed there. One day I will fulfil a lifelong dream and visit nihon-koku.
Very nice opening FX. Before I got my place in the Heatons last year, I was also considering Aigburth/Allerton/Cressington, so it's also an interesting watch for me, for that reason. I know S. L'pool a bit 'cos of people I worked with over the years, so this was a fun, nostalgic watch. 4:21 And here's a fun fact, Aigburth Cricket Ground has the oldest pavilion still in existence and hosted loads of Lancashire matches in 2011 - the last year they were county champions - because Old Trafford was being renovated. Cheers and I am looking forward to watching the final installment :)
Another top quality video, its good to learn a bit more into about my local area. keep up the vids. 👍
Cheers, Conner. Appreciate you watching
Stunning vid. I love estuaries. I live within walking distance of three, that empty into Hiragata Bay: The Miyagawa, Jijugawa and Takatorigawa estuaries - brilliant for cockle picking! :)
Kon'nichi Ha. If your channel was named using your Polish criteria, in Japanese, it would be ジ _ ギ (Ji __ Gi) I don't know what the middle syllable would be, as I don't know your middle name, and the letter depends on that, but your first name would be pronounced Ji- eeh mi (ジェーミー), and James is Ji-eeh-mu-zu (ジェームズ). Hope you're both still doing well - I enjoyed this leg of the walk. Too bad about your whopper sized camera. Still, you know what they say... big camera... big chiropractor's bill ;) It's fascinating hearing your backstories - the first place I ever went outside Britain was Munich (the first thing I ever said in German, in January 1989 was "Ein doppel Whopper, bitte" at the Burger King Stand in Munich Hauptbahnhof - I was piggin' staaaarvin'), but unlike James I never studied there. I studied in Ann Arbor Michigan, as an undergraduate, which has America's most advanced Japanese studies program, as they set it up due to the need to speed learn, towards the end of WW2, and I've since done some language courses and exams at university while living in Japan, as well. It is good to keep one's language skills up - and believe me I need to! Anyway, apologies for ramblin', figuratively, watching you two ramble literally - college recess here so I don't have any classes until September - watching these vids keeps me out of bother ;)
ジホギ JIHOGI, from ホールデン. Glad you like the videos. Did you watch my old Polish adventure mentioned here? I have an ‘Adventures in Poland’ playlist on the channel
Terrific video of my birthplace, very well done for highlighting the good in Widnes and not being lazy by showing the town center shop closures and all that negative stuff. The Pex Hill part was fantastic as I used to go there often as a kid…seeing you two climbing those big steps makes my 70 year old knees ache.
I figured out which ancestor of mine married at Farnworth Chapel. 1833 my great-great-great-great-grandfather James Holden, to his second wife, Christina Brew.
11:34 Nice walk - I'm watching this while simultaneously noticing you've gone from 10 ten subscribers to ten hundred - well done!
Domo arigato :) Come quite far in 4 years. Mileage and subscribers!
9:15 生麦、生米、生卵。 (Nama mugi, nama gome, nama tamago - raw wheat, raw rice, raw eggs). :)
I grew up in N Redish in 50/60's. What happened to Reddish Vale. A favourite jaunt. Train used to stop at Belle Vue. Very popular in those days. Station closed for a while during Beechings purge.
It was like watching The African Queen, that! Gripping :)
Mad old adventure that! I woke up one morning like, I’m gonna go down the Mersey in a rubber dinghy! lol
I’d go back in time get back in north reddish school go carols on the corner to buy rubbish good times
That's Why I Love Nestle Crunch! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
🤣
New subscriber, Brilliant video, very interesting to learn at bit of history i didn't know about my local area.
Appreciate that, Conner. Glad you liked it. I try to do a little research before I go out and about
Got recommended this video after watching Auto Shenanigans - Very interesting!
Cheers, buddy! Glad you enjoyed our random wanderings
@@JotHaGie It's absolutely brilliant, mate. I love wondering around and exploring bits of history etc, and I grew up around there, so this is right up my alley.
9:40 Cheers for sharing your current favourite TH-cam channels. Will check them out. Some of my recent faves are "Betty on a Boat" (Canal Boat channel); Jiminy Glick (if you like laughing, and I DO!); and Kumada Kahori - a traditional Japanese Biwa player - fantastic. Really glad the weather was kinder to you this time, and good luck hitting 1,000 followers. Nearly there!
Cheers, bud! I’ll have a look at yours. Don’t mind a bit of classical Japanese music
grim dirty streets, empty shops.empty plots of land.give rhyl huge thumbs down, not a resort anymore.just become the last resort.
0:47 Amazing that I'm watching this for the first time, the day after England lost in the final AGAIN! My psychic powers amaze even me! Very enjoyable vid, and very useful, as I need to get to know Reddish... as well as I can, from 6,000 miles away. All the best :)
Quelle coincidence! Three years, time flies. And what happened to my hair?! :o Must say, I do like Reddish Vale
To what do we owe this great treat? Fab slice of nostalgia. I grew up in Rainford and was actually in RHS same time as you. Lived in Kings Moss for a bit as well. Many thanks for the vid
Haha, cheers John! Been a little while since we filmed this. I do like Rainford, must say
Less than 10 miles from where I live. Talacre beach is great. I've been on it when the tide is really out and the beach is so wide. Yes, it was used for target runs in the second world war.
Lovely place , hope you enjoyed your grand day out
Loved it :) weather certainly helped
We used to go to Talacre when we were kids in the 60's, stayed in small huts made of asbestos with corrugated iron roofs, the local shop sold the best pies. We spent our time on the beach, fishing in a pond and had days out to Rhyl, Prestatyn, Colwyn Bay and Llandudno
Ah, good old asbestos huts 😳 I’d never been to Talacre before, but will definitely go again. What a fantastic place
@@JotHaGieyeh, we had to evict dozens of dpiders, slept top to tail with brothers and cousin, got water from stand pipe, cooked on camping primus stove you had to pump
Love your blob ❤ love it lovely couple 🌟lovely memory keep u good blob
9:56. Nihongo wa jozu desu ne! o yasumi nasai! (koko wa yoru desu :) )
By any chance, did you have any protection under that coat? 😂 because you haven’t seen the worst of it yet. Rhyl I would rather sacrifice. My grandmother, then live in Rhyl again 😂
Great walk again to the both of you!
Cheers, bud. Hoping to smash the miles on the next one
enjoyed your vlog, that's quite the walk. Predictable weather right lol pretty much the same here in FL. rain, blue skies, heat, rain, blue skies. Looking forward to more of your vlogs...subbed. We vlog too.
Cheers, guys, much appreciated. We shall check out your vids too :)
Great vlog guys
Cheers, Paul. Much appreciated
Unless it's amazing editing on your part, can I just say that your baby is a great sport? Just the occasional gurgle, while you trapess around the north of England with her, on her own, there, on the front, like the nose turret gunner on a WW2 Lancaster Bomber. Loved the Northenden Bridge bit, btw. One of my earliest memories (1973).
Honestly, bud, she loves her walks. Loves getting out, taking it all in. It’s mum that needs dragging along lol Disappointed how little ground we covered on this one, but thought it needed uploading
Awesome work and great content!
Near where you finished I was taking a walk with my dad one Sunday in about 1980 after heavy rain - the river was raging and we spotted a pair of handlebars sticking out of the water about 30 foot below . My dad, who was a lift engineer went back to his van, which he'd parked in the pub car park, got what looked like a pair of pliers attached to a reel of cable (don't ask - I'm not a lift engineer) went back, twizzed the pliers and cable round his head a few times and wrapped it round the handlebars good and proper, first time. What he pulled out was a shopping bike, with front basket and everything, in mint condition - sold it in the Manchester Evening news classifieds the following week for 25 nicker. That's one of my better memories of round there - a not so good one is getting an attack of hay fever for the first time, on Withington and Didsbury golf clubs, while rummaging around in the long grass for stray golf balls. Lots and lots of memories from round there though, so thanks for bringing them back. Great to see how much the baby enjoys getting out and about with you both.
Cheers, buddy. I love stories like this. Mad how every street corner where you grew up holds a memory - is it the same for everyone? Or just us nostalgic ones?
Up and at em' Another great snippet of the M60. Keep up with the great work.
Cheers, Sully, much appreciated.
