We just placed a deposit on five meishan pigs for breeding stock, can’t wait to get started!
I came across your TH-cam channel, [AgroPreneur Business Podcast], and was really impressed with your contents. I'm a photoshop graphics designer and i recreated a thumbnail on one of your video. I humble ask for your email address for me to send across the design🙏🤗.
Rip Rosy
Don't believe this for one minute. There is no way to produce $6000 of revenue from a single hog unless it is the greatest piece of breeding stock ever, or you stuff the carcass with cocaine.
The process is mesmerizing
so stopping to feed them moldy food cured them. Not the vaccination program after all...... I also believe that Organic feed, freshly ground, is much better than GMO, or feed sprayed with pesticides in the field. That causes health issues in people and animals.
I need pig let please
👍👍👍
It appears this is pure breed, my question is how are you preserving the breed are you doing inbreeding? Otherwise this is beautiful work
The Meishans had enough genetic variety to not have to fall into inbreeding practices.
Domestic pigs don’t routinely eat or attack people unless they are protecting their piglets - if they do become aggressive, most likely, you’re the reason why..
Absolutely love this story. Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ
I love this channel!! I’m about to get some mangalitzas and I’m soaking this information in!
Cross with a wild boar ....
Infectious faith!
I have watched this video a couple of times. What is Brianna’s farms name. I would love to follow their journey and check out their website and products.
Great work my sister
Hi. Thanks for sharing. I grew up in Forsyth County on a farm. T
Thanks for sharing this, NC USA 🇺🇸
Kimberly's reaction to being drafted as a speaker reminded me of Ian Steppler's from A Canadian beekeeper's Blog telling of his being drafted to speak at a Provincial level beekeepers meeting. Butterflies in the stomach(perhaps bees), lots of practice in front of mirror. Protests of being unworthy ignored. He survived and now speaks at beekeepers meetings across N America.(and enjoys it.)
🔥🐷🔥 Wow Ian sounds like an awesome guy! Haha I’ve known Kimberly for a while and I’m always proud of what she’s doing. She naturally uses principles I would have taught her and she has a lot of experience so she could definitely knock a speaker talk out of the park 😤😁😂
This breed is so cute
❤❤❤
She mentioned lard because commercial producers pigs don’t have them, every time have pork from grocery store, would flairs up rheumatoid arthritis
Pig farmer you go girl
I raised a cross of meishan with newsham to get boars for heat detection and stimulating for artificial breeding. Ended up being really good boars probably the best we ever had to be honest.
🔥🐷🔥 I’ve never heard of a Newsham, tell me more 🤩 Meishan are so great for breeding and heat checking. Although the carcass quality is not as desirable in a typical market, incorporating some genetics can elevate anyone’s breeding program 🙌🏾
Those dudes need a treadmill.
😂😂😂
Great interview. I am glad I stumbled on this channel. This is the balm my spirit needed.
🔥🐷🔥 Grateful it was encouraging! 🙌🏾
Bro you are a amazing interviewer ❤ I'd love to join forces with you channeling our efforts to glorify our Heavenly Father's word. I'm 59yrs young, I'm a city bus driver in Washington state! 🔥🐷🔥 Thanks for sharing your story! Sounds like you’re doing awesome work 🙏🏾😁
@@AgroPreneurBusinessPodcast It's all GLORY TO GOD!!! I'm just amazed to be apart of thee blessing 🙌🏿 Looking forward to speaking with you beloved brother! Perhaps you could join me on our prayer line when possible 🙏🏿
Dude! She must have the marketing down to a science to be able to sell ground pork at $11. I'm part of a local direct marketing FB group, and I see people there all the time selling pastured pork for $3/lb cut and wrapped. Good to see producers getting paid for their work.
🔥🐷🔥 $3/lb is self-abuse 💀 The biggest thing with marketing is to market to the right people. There are people willing to pay more. And for context, she lives in Washington (state) so their cost of living is much higher. Cost of living should be reflexes in the pricing 👍🏾
@PorkRhyne absolutely. In my context, (Northeast Saskatchewan) the cost of living is probably a fair bit lower, and the market is smaller. But I am working on setting up my farm to raise feeder pigs on pasture, and I am tentatively planning to aim for $7/lb hanging weight. It's high enough to make a decent margin, and low enough that I shouldn't scare away all potential customers. I'm also debating organic certification and trying to decide if it's worth the extra cost and effort to be able to charge the premium price for an organic product.
@@percussionof12 🔥🐷🔥 That’s a great goal to have 🙌🏾 Yeah as someone who was trained to be an organic inspector and works with pig farmers, I can tell you that buying organic feed will eat up your profit margin. Over 70% of costs for pig farming is in feed. Organic is usually twice as much at NonGMO. Also the organic label is for those who have hundreds of sows and can offset the feed bill with economy of scale. If you wanna go organic, see if you can buy waste byproducts from organic certified food companies. You’ll be able to be verified through those means and the feed bill will be cheaper (just make sure it’s worth your time and petro cost). Ultimately NonGMO is great. Don’t fall for the myth that a label will solve your marketing/profit issues. Labels are mostly for brands that don’t have face to face interactions with their customers so they have to “buy trust” through a label. Make sense?
@PorkRhyne yeah that makes a lot of sense. It's really important to me as a land owner and producer to be caring for my land in an environmentally responsible way, and to be regenerating, not degenerating the land. So many organic practices are a part of that, but I'm still on the fence about whether I really need the piece of paper saying that I comply with a particular set of standards.
This was a great video. Informative, honest, & connected. Thank you
🔥🐷🔥 Thanks friend ☺️
Vaccinated meat is not healthy for human consumption.
Honey, you do HARD, DIRTY, DAYLIGHT-to-DARK work EVERYDAY!!! I bet your pigs don't taste like pre-processed packaged pork! I've played with pigs at a school-mate's Aunt's farm. We worked up a 1200 pounder-I was a 16 year-old, dumb and strong, and by supper-time, when "Aunt Bessie" cooked-up a big skillet of pork steaks from that hog and potatoes, I was almost too tired to eat! I knew farming was hard work, but I had NO IDEA how HARD!!! You DESERVE every penny you get AND MORE! I really admire you, and I'd love to try some of your pork-I bet it's wonderful.
I would love to know more and maybe one of your hubs
All I want to say is "Where's Loganville?". lol. I still can't get that commercials out of my head. Thnx for the hog info too.
Great job! Love that you started and ended with a covering of PRAYER! I am so excited to learn more about the Meishan hogs. I also love that both of you encourage the viewers not to undersell themselves in the endeavors that the LORD has led you to. Again, thank you for the inspiring and encouraging message.
🔥🐷🔥 Gotcha put Him first 👌🏾😁 Thanks!
Aside from the overly loud transitions, thank you, Rhyne, for this valuable information on such a wonderful group of hogs. And thank you, Laura, for your focused guidance and determination to maintain the Meishan breed. Peace and health~
Lovely couple
I’m in Texas but interested in knowing her pricing on piglets
Wow they had a load go through the sale for $1 each 😂
🔥🐷🔥 I bet 😂 It’s sad to see pigs not being valued for their economic worth. But sale barns are never meant for the best, usually for those who want to offload inferior genetics or are desperate for cash 🤷🏾♂️
Great content! I'd love more details for how a small farm could profit from specialty products.
how in hell you got 6000? holy pig! thats a insane price per kilo.
but how much is spent raising a pig?
Pig raising pigs
Great videos! You deserve way more subs and views. We are newish to pigs in Mississippi been doing it for almost a year. I'm going to mention you in some of my pig videos. We raise Duroc, Berkshire , Yorkshire and just got some hereford pigs. We made a pig beginner mistake and got kunekune pigs as our first pigs which now are more like farm pets. Anyways keep up the great videos. Check out Chuck with Sheraton Park Farm he does great pig videos but has started shifting to beef and poultry.
🔥🐷🔥 Haha, KuneKunes, the typical homesteader pig trap 😂 Sounds like y’all are on the right track; let me know how the other pigs go 🥳
She eats way to much pig. Stop eating animals! Be vegan
She's a nice and intelligent woman. Hope for the best of your farm. Thank you sir for sharing. Now I know what is gilts is🙂 I googled it..
🔥🐷🔥 Glad you enjoyed the video 😁
Intelligent?? Good one 😂
Amazing video
Praise the Lard!
I love y'all's dynamic and the wealth of knowledge and wisdom is priceless.
🔥🐷🔥 I appreciate that! What did you find helpful from the interview? 🤩
CGI pigs.
How do you get new genetics from Britain? It seems like from my reading and viewing videos that the rules on live animals, semen straws, or embryos are not permitted, then permitted but only AI, then the rules change again. I've noticed this with sheep and other livestock and not just pigs. When there are disease outbreaks it's understandable to have a ban, but sometimes there doesn't seem to be a reason for the rule changes. How do you keep track of it all?
🔥🐷🔥 Great question! For this particular breed, the Gloustershire Old Spot of America (Association) worked with the British association and each federal government to import live pigs to the States. It would be hard to do it as an individual, but not unheard of. It’s just easier to do it as a group like G.O.S.A. Does that explain things? 😊
