    Did her shoulder ever dislocate after surgery?

    • @27RandomGurl
      @27RandomGurl 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's been 3 years since the surgery and she has never dislocated it since. I might add that she hasn't stopped the sport activities that caused the dislocations in the first place. In fact, she has increased her activities and level of play (she's a softball catcher). We are quite pleased with the outcome and the progress she has made.

    Are you trying to tell us about what happens for surgery? We know what happens. I'll follow MY surgeons advice, not yours...not everyone's surgery is the same as yours! Stop giving medical advice when you aren't qualified to do so! Thank God you have mommy and daddy to wait on you hand and foot or your starve lol. I did everything by myself!!

      Oh piss off. I have this surgery tomorrow, and I am not watching this for formal medical advice. I'm interested in people's experiences, even though I dont expect my experience to be exactly the same. If you had a modicum of sense, you'd realize this doesnt come close to medical advice. And slapping yourself on the back is so lame. You want a medal for doing it by yourself? No one gives a shit. Maybe stop being a terrible person.

    my friend is it hurt? and can I do gym after bankart surgery? and how long time its take for recovery?

    • @27RandomGurl
      @27RandomGurl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it took me about a year to fully be able to throw a ball without it hurting. But I think about 6 months of recovery you should be able to ease into the gym slowly. Don't go too fast, it will lengthen your recovery time and make it hurt worse! Overdoing it is not what you want, going slow and a good pace will help increase recovery time! Hope your friend recovers well!

    hey 😊... loved your video you seem really happy and strong. I'm having this surgery in around 5 weeks and I'm so scared and losing sleep over this 😢... can you please try and describe what kind of pain it is at its worst and on a scale how painful is it when the nerve block wears off and any more tips, info and advice I would very much appreciate this.

    • @jhatzakos
      @jhatzakos 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Laura! Do not worry about the surgery, trust your surgeon and know that they're experts and they've done these hundreds of times, everything will go smoothly. Before the surgery, if you are offered an ice machine GET IT! if not please order one it will make your life so much easier. When you first go back home (the surgery is most likely out patient so you will go home that day) your arm will feel absolutely dead, but do not move very much even though it does not hurt because that will make your world of pain the next day even worse. When the nerve block wears off you'll start to notice that it is gradually wearing off. First you will feel tingles in your fingers. When that happens you wont feel any pain but that is when you start taking your Percocet (or other medication, thats what i was given) every 4 hours (or what your doctor tells you to do), so that when the nerve block wears off completely, the pain meds have had a chance to start working. Day 2&3 are probably going to be the hardest and most painful days you will have, but it is NOT going to be agonizingly painful. Do not think of the worst when you are getting this done. You will be able move around and go to the bathroom and do everything daily but you will need to keep your arm close to your body and hold it up at all times. If you dangle it then this will make it hurt more. The pain i would say is around a 7-8 on a scale of 10. The pain should never get up to a 9 or 10 in my opinion. just be careful at all times. I also suggest after a week of using Percocet (or your medication) every 2 hours (if you are told for 4 hours) start taking Advil in between. You should be taking Percocet for the first 2 hours then Advil, the Percocet, then Advil etc. I have had friends who have only taken just Percocet (for other surgeries) and have had withdrawal symptoms afterwards. This has never happened to me. This will help ween you off of the drug and you will start to feel so much better along with your head not being as foggy, and being able to think more clearly. Once you're off the Percocet I had continued taking Advil for an extra 4 months. If you're in school when you are having this surgery, you won't be able to return until you are off the Percocet. I went back to school at around 2 weeks after my surgery. STAY POSITIVE!!! this will really help you keep your spirits up and not be so down on yourself when you really need it. Lastly i had talked in my video about how this was a 6 month recovery process. This is by far 100% false. You will not be 100% by 6 months. I would say maybe 50-60% good. I would not say i was 100% until a year after my surgery. Even now when i play softball my arms is still sore from time to time when i am throwing. Because my arm is fatigued at times when i throw a lot. This doesn't last long when i throw but it still occurs at times. If you're not an athlete (and might i ask how you injured yourself), then maybe the recovery time is at 6 months. Because around that time i was able to reach a status for a regular person's range of motion. But, if you are an athlete your recovery time will take muuuuuch longer than anticipated. I was cleared by my surgeon at around 4 months to be a designated hitter for my team. Which meant that i was able to hit the ball and run the bases competitively at around 4 months. Which meant i was able to play and contribute to my team and that helped me want to get better in the middle of my recovery. If you still have any questions please message me back, i really hope this takes some of the nerves off our shoulders (pun intended lol) and that this helps give you some insight. I hope your surgery will go well and best of luck!

      Jan Hatzakos Thank you sooo much for your time to reply i appreciate it it so much... I am a proper whimp 😢 so scared of pain because I have been known to have anxiety attacks and them in there self are scary... I dislocated my shoulder first around 10 years ago just lifting myself up out of bed (really fast to answer the door) and it just happened and it was HORRIFIC PAIN. then after that ordeal I never really been told much about it (or I wasn't listening) not sure while ago now and since then every now and then it has dislocated or slipped like went to go and dislocate and that's a horrible and painful feeling also... so lately been thinking a lot about my life over the last 10 years and how it's stopped me from doing things I want because I'm so dam scared of everything because of my shoulder and even when I do things again I'm always thinking about my shoulder and it's been getting more tired lately like as if it's getting worse so decided to take the offer of surgery 😢😢😢. is this why you got surgery because of dislocations? sorry can't remember if you said as I have watched so many videos on this kinda thing.

    • @jhatzakos
      @jhatzakos 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i did get my surgery because of dislocations. All were sports related and it had happened 5 times over the course of 4 years. Each time it was easier and easier to slip out, it never did stay out, it would always pop back in place. Every time it occurred it got better within a day or two, yet the last time however did not get better at all. I could not throw the ball. However, It did get more tired like you said. I am really glad you are taking the time to get the surgery done, but i suggest you also have someone with you for the first 2 weeks to help you around if you need things and such. I even needed help taking a shower and washing my hair! So thats just a heads up. I think around the end of 2 weeks into the 3rd you will be able to be way more independent. But it is a good thing you're going to get your shoulder fixed because you're doing it for yourself and once it recovers you will thank yourself because i can tell this will put you in a better mindset down the road. The main thing is to be patient and not to get discouraged. Trust me, doing all those tedious exercises will help even if it may not seem like it. Also just one last thing is make sure to (as much as they may suck) do all of your exercises when you aren't going to PT. I made the mistake of doing them for the first few months and then stopping. Now granted it didn't end up hurting me badly in the end but i think my PT visits would have been fewer if i had just done what i was supposed to do. Just don't stress it and be prepared!

      Jan Hatzakos thanks again for your reply you have really given me some hope... I'm such a whimp when it comes to pain and a 7-8 on the pain scale is freaking me out that seems pretty painful 😟 is that pain with or without the pain meds taking affect? also 1 of my fears is throwing up... did you ever experience this either by the pain medication or anesthesia?
