It's been well over a decade since the Saiyan attack happened, and all of that damage was from Nappa, Vegeta never actually killed anyone on Earth during the attack. (Other than Nappa) I doubt anyone even remembers what Vegeta looked like at this point, and even if they did, they would probably notice the lack of tail and believe he just looked similar to Nappa's underling.
