The Video is all Black, why?
Not sure if TH-cam changed it but it has like 8seconds of black screen then it starts. I don’t remember it doing that but it’s been a long time since I posted it
@@x-ringcustomgunsmithing942 I see. Probably hates the "Machine gun" or "full Auto" part and/or something in the vid that was detected but very unfortunate. Thanks for the reply anyway!
must be a reduced load huh?
Yeah they are definitely not full 45/70 loads for sure. Customer provided them with the revolver when we did this to test fire

if i am right this was a crowd control gun for riots and such....... i could be wrong
I have heard it was used for a short time in prison control but they removed it due to the number or rounds per second and the lack of recoil so the pattern of bullets on target was far to dense.

cool gun and all but where in the hell did they get 22lr that runs that good never? that many 22lr and no dud thats what im amazed at......
Gotta use good ammo. Not thunderbolts or Winchester white box
Runs best with CCI Stinger!
Ammo choice is perennial, as said. With .22LR automatics of any kind, semi or full, you _generally_ want some ammo which advertised to be a bit more powerful, and something which is less dirty also helps, but after running a whole drum with a gun like this, you'll still wanna do a quick wipedown afterwards regardless of chosen ammo.
I'm more amazed at the lack of jambs lol!
Screw all these gun manufacturers and red dot manufacturers for making everything harder on us. For example: Holosun could have easily make it rmsc/smsc cut but decided to do it 90% of the way and then say "screw you" to all of us and instead made it proprietary. It's ridiculous. Even worse is trijicon, who makes the most expensive red dot and could have easily made it rmsc/smsc compatible. But no, they keep it super proprietary.
Super cool at least those rounds don’t cost that much🙌✅💥
Yeah.......only it is 30 rds/sec!!!!!

Do irons cowitness well after this?
Yeah you can see about 3/4 of the original sights in the bottom of the window. So they are still usable.
When this gun was made, 22LR was considered less lethal, so prison guards would carry this thing around.
Not sure when this one was made. Your right they were going to use it as a prison riot gun till it was sawing people up with the 20 rounds a second coming out. To many rounds in a small area due to no recoil so the scrapped that as an option.
In a situation where this was intended, an unarmed crowd charging you, its really not necessary (or perhaps even desirable) to be as efficient as killing as possible but this is still deadly force. People are usually gonna reconsider pretty their actions pretty quick when you turn the first waves chests to ground meat but the other people will be a lot less injured than if you'd been firing rifle rounds through 4 people at once
Thanks to Brandon Herrera for the lesson on the American 180 I was told that back then less lethal literally meant less lethal, no rubber ammunition, beanbag shotgun just 22LR pop a few to the prisoner’s leg and there your less lethal.
Someone may have had that thought, but that doesn't mean that this was actual reality, one short trigger press easily lets loose a half or full dozen shots, which isn't all that far from a shotgun shell with No.4 Buckshot, and consider that even with this relatively short barrel, you're getting much more velocity than with most .22 caliber pistols. With one of the longer rifle barrels, you'd get even more speed, and .22LR actually has pretty respectable energy with each individual shot at that point, now multiply that with a handful of them which are easily focused on target. Again, almost like a shotgun, except much more range and there's no recoil to talk about. There is a documented case of police using these once to engage two armed suspects in a car, the suspects shoot at them, so the cop leans out the window as his partner is driving and he returns fire at them with the American 180, letting off about a second of fire. The driving suspect is seriously injured, and the shooting suspect dies on the scene. Rhodesian soldiers also used some of these guns with suppressors during the Rhodesian Bush War, and a low cost clone with a plastic body was made in Yugoslavia, being used some in the wars there as Yugoslavia stopped being Yugoslavia. Together with a suppressor, one of these would be a terrifying ambush weapon.
I'm glad this video popped up for me. I live less than 3mi from you and see your sign all the time. I just got a Hellcat and might be looking to do this exact thing. If I do, I will surely be in touch.
25 in pounds is too tight. Holosun calls for 15in.lbs max Read the instructions first, it works best.
I did this, and the optic sits flush when the screws are loose. But when i torque it down the front of the optic lifts up leaving a small noticable gap.
Do you know what size screws are needed
These videos never show the final sight picture of the product. Great job in explaining the process. But as many have mentioned, you need to show the sight picture. I really want to know if any of the stock irons are obstructed in any way or do you have absolute co-witness. The adapter plates promise absolute co-witness, they do NOT. The sights are obstructed. Please consider linking a hosted photo of the final sight picture in the description
Yes you can still see the sights of you do it this way and don’t use an adapter plate. The sights can be seen in the bottom of the window if the optic failed or battery dies. They don’t stick up like a suppressor sight wood but they could be used
I wish they would just mention the exact size screw we need to direct mount the holosun 507k to thr hellcat 9mm
I am adding the same optic to my Hellcat. (except the one I am getting has the ACSS Vulcan reticle) I ordered an adapter plate. But I have considered doing it the way you did it as well. That will make the optic sit lower and I may still be able to co-witness on the iron sights. One thing I would have done different...I would have taped off the open holes on the slide to prevent shavings from getting inside the slide. You can also make a simple "grip guage" from a piece of wire to tell you exactly how log the screws should be. I wish all these optic manufacturers could come to some agreement on sight mounts and footprints. It would make things so much more simple.
Did you end up doing this? I have same setup and hate that the adapter plate doesn’t allow cowitness with irons. Were you able to get them to cowitness well?
@@jaynawinehouse Yes. I used a Dremel and took the two pins down flush and shaved a little off the other two so it would sit flat on the reciever. The metal of the reciever is pretty hard so I used a cutoff wheel. You have to be careful to keep from marring things up. I used some Superblue to touch up the bare metal. Looks great! Sits low enough to cowitness. It would have been nice to have a drill press and bottom mill but if you have a steady hand, the Dremel works fine. I had to grind a little and test fit, grind some more and test fit till it was just right. Go slow.
What is the benefits of co witness? Wouldn't that make the irons a distraction from the red dot, hence defeating the purple of the dot?
If the dot fails or if it has moved, you will still be able to use the iron sights.@@truthtalker7774
@@truthtalker7774 Back up if the red dot goes down. (Dead battery)
Your shorter screw length in mm was ?
Does it co-witness with after you milled it as shown in your video?
What size of screws did you use to mount the shigt
Does it co-witness?
Hello can y’all tell me what size screw works… I removed my plate and milled the tabs off as well now my screws are too long hahah
Using a plate is the proper way instead of removing the posts.
Starts stacking and adds another layer to potentially come loose...
saving up 5k for one of my own
If you found one for 5k you found a rare thing. Most I have seen are around 20k for full autos
You should be fine as long as you got around 1500 bottlecaps
man and i felt good only paying 18 for mine l0l gl
Yea try more like $20K.
@@x-ringcustomgunsmithing942 Maybe the one he's looking at is a sample, or he's an SOT and he wants to convert a semi-auto one? Sample MGs can often be a lot less expensive, but that depends on if there are actually more of those around. Really fun MGs such as these are usually valued very high though, as noted, which is why stuff like 9mm SMGs and converted 10/22s only keep climbing in price.
What does it cost to do this and turn around time?
Send me an email to xringcustomgunsmithing@hotmail.com and we can get get a quote to you
Holosuns user manual says torque to 15 ft lbs. Any specific reason why you went to 25?
If I was to go out and buy screws what are the sizes?
They M4x.7 threads
This gave me confidence to do it myself, thanks
By direct mounting instead of using an adapter plate are you able to us the iron sights as backups? I know that with the plate the optic is too high to cowitness
Yes they sit low in the window but you can see the factory irons with the direct mount no adapter.
Thankfully now you can get a plate from C&H so someone not tool-literate, and not a TH-cam gunsmith lol, won’t destroy their firearms. The 407k is much better than any of the RMSc red dots currently available. Although the RMR CC is good, but not for the price! If you’re not mechanically inclined, PLEASE have an actual gunsmith do this job for you! Just got the hellcat pro and I’m going to put the 407K on her too and a TLR7 Sub.
Always try to avoid stacking issues. The adapter plates raise the optic a lot higher which makes back up irons more difficult to obtain. Plus I have seen where the adapter plates come loose and people don't catch it. Keep it simple. Although I have seen people mess this up. I have had one come into my shop where it looked like they used a 6" angle grinder to modify the slide...
@@x-ringcustomgunsmithing942 yeah a lot of people think they’re gunsmiths from watching a couple videos. Typically the issues I see are the customers error not torquing correctly and not using blue loctite or too much. The HOB and being taller than stock sights is corrected with suppressor hight sights or taller sights which trijicon is starting to come out with for proper cowitnessing. Removing material from the slide should definitely be left to a competent smith, but mechanically inclined people can definitely do this job.
Yeah we have provided this service for a lot of individuals sending us the slides from around the country to get it done correctly after them seeing this video.
@@x-ringcustomgunsmithing942 those are the smart ones lol so many people jack up their guns and have no business working on an erector set let alone firearms. However, it keeps work comin in! Lol
