Fan theory - Gilligan was actually a genius. He just pretended to be stupid so he could "accidentally" blow every single escape attempt so he could spend the rest of his life on the island with Mary Ann.

Aging back then was so different. Alan Hale was cast to fit the role of the “older gruff man” but in actuality he would have only been in his mid-40s. And Russell Johnson (Roy), who was cast as the “hot smart guy” was only a few years younger. Denver (Gilligan) was 25. Natalie Schafer was actually in her 60’s and she looked amazing.

I am dating this man's beautiful son that he chose not to ever meet. He was born during the making of High Chaparral. He sure missed out on a very special human being. Not only was his son born with physical beauty but he has the soul of an angel.
