Great question for anyone who is not familiar with IOM sailing, please allow us some effort here to explain as we trust many other sailors could benefit from this answer too: - the cost of our IOM sailboats reflects the precision of naval architecture, engineering, advanced materials and countless hours of expert craftsmanship that go into each single one of these sailboats. We always state that Sailboat RC brand is a mix of art and science, and that motto ensured today that our cofounder is the most awarded IOM sailor in the whole history of IOM class. But, it is also worth noting that IOM class is recognized by World Sailing as any other "real" sailboat, and these IOM sailboats we do are designed to the highest standards, just like their full-sized counterparts, they offer a top-tier sailing experience-only in a smaller, more intricate package. For example, IOM sailing is in some sense much harder and intense compared to big sailboats as changes here happen super fast compared to changes on regatta when you are sailing big sailboats. Here you have to be excellent with your reaction time, thinking about tactics, sailing strategy and recognizing fleet behaviors, wind shifts, etc. Of course, you can find online many more lower-priced IOM sailboats, but we strive to give you best performance, quality, intuitiveness, innovation, customer support and longevity which ultimately reflects on all the trophies you will win and your overall sailing experience through years. Also, if legends like Ken Read and Bruce Farr are sailing our VISS, then you can be sure this sailing experience we offer is as real as it gets. ;)

PS professional golfing equipment that wins World Championships and major events (like we do), with a full set of high-end clubs (driver, fairway woods, irons, wedges, and putter) from top brands like TaylorMade, Titleist, or Callaway can easily total $4,000 to $6,000 or more, and one could argue those are "just some sticks and leather", right? Professional bicycle can go up to 17.000 USD, so IOM sailboats are still very ok with price when you consider what is out there within professional sport, especially when you consider our VISS or K2 will last for decades easily and can be re-sold on aftermarket within a day or two as there is big the demand for them (yes, there are waiting lists for our IOM sailboats). Depends where you put rocker, you definitely don't want to build up high pressure zones, so you want to avoid this, but if it is the zone where it will not built up hugh pressure zones, rocker is not a problem. Hope that is helpful to you, enjoy your RC trimaran, will it foil or be regular one, 2m is huge, that would be awesome to see? :)

Well yes, IOM sailboats are very fluid, quick and nimble, trim works in similar ways no matter that there are some unique things about RC sailboats, it still has lots of common ground for sure. That is one of the reasons the IOM class draws in so many countries worldwide great sailors that have amazing reputations in other classes of Olimpic or non-Olimpic sailboats too.

Oh yes, Canadian RC sailors love IOM class and Canada is often represented on big international events within IOM.

Hard to tell, video is never super precise tool for this as line (start) alingment is often skewed by the position of camera that is most often not directly behind the line as then cameramen is then disturbing the work of line judges.

​@@petesherwood5450 Well, it is not easy to say for anyone who was out when you are line judge, just look at the line on the start from the angle of camera when we mark it in red right on the very start, here is the link: prnt.sc/GYov9_ijjKVz But of course, possible mistakes happen every event, that is something it is expected with many numbers of races through several days. Judges have wind, sun or rain often causing issues to your eyes after days of event, and this was day 4 so... :)

@@SailboatRC I'm not passing judgement on the PRO, I just think Ken Read was VERY lucky to get away with that one. A very risky start when you consider there are no boats right beside him forcing him to cut it so fine. Your illustration has the start line drawn at the windward edge of the marks, are you sure the start line is not defined as the centre of the marks?

We barely managed to get these interviews as only one person was doing all of this work under rain and wind often, but this was North American Continentals after all so USA sailors were focused mostly. It would be great if we did an interview with Sean (if he would accept it, many sailors don't), then he could also say a couple of words about upcoming IOM Worlds in Australia with his views on event as well, so that's a missed opportunity unfortunately. But, good thing you reminded us now, there is also no interview of the sole Croatian sailor there as well, and he even won the event with a gold medal, so we will try to fix at least that soon with the last update for this event playlist.

Yes, both Bruce Farr and Ken Read were enjoing IOM sailboats competing on the North American IOM Continental Championship, awesome, isn't it?

Yes he touched the last downwind mark and failed to do a penalty, then went on the pip Zvonko on the line...

With such an amazing crew with us, nothing is impossible. Chile did put massive efforts here into all organizational areas and we are glad to be part of it.

This is an older version of our IOM sailboat Kantun S, so hard to tell for sure...but we think it is RAL 5024, Pastel Blue.

​@@russellharding6073Trust us, you have no idea how many emails we answered with this video actually, there was a huge number of questions coming to us almost on daily basis about new VISS design, we actually saved a lot of time here which will get VISS faster out for sure. But we still have super fast production that can get you 'K2' IOM out in 3 months or even faster if necessary, this here is prototype, so purpose of this video is not to promote line production which is faster than ever, but to share news about new design so we can continue work in peace afterwards. ;)
