In my few interactions with Roger, he's been a great guy, and proved that again here. Nice to hear about how he brought in Joe Calfapietra. I'm assuming hiring Greg will be in part 2? Hoping for a good Tommy Williams story as well.

I went to an open house at the SteelYard, I thought it was August 2002, but it could have been September as Roger said. If Joe Calfapietra was there, I didn't see him or even know who he was, but Ron Kittle was there. I can honestly say that was the day I became a Railcats fan.

It's a damn shame that the restaurants in and around the ballpark have not been able to survive. I've been to most of them at one time or another.

The original video board was up for a long time (I think). I know it was upgraded in maybe 2019, but has been out of date pretty much when it went in. We have the worst video board in the league. Upgrade that, and we would have the best scoreboard in the league.

Kansas City and Sioux City are city or county owned/operated, and their playing surfaces suffer from it. Not saying their grounds crews don't try their best, but they're not as good as some of the others. We really do have a great field in Gary, and truly one of the best ballparks in the league. Great job to the grounds crew.

Cleburne was great. I got a lot of autographs from both teams down there. And talking to Josh Smith the last weekend, he said it really means a lot to see Railcats fans even just in Kane County. And I get a sense that most of the time the visiting players don't mind signing or talking if you know their name, and aren't just yelling, "Hey #10!"

I have a lot to say about the championship series, but not a lot of time. What a series it was. Especially in the Kane County games, the pitching was outstanding. Both games were so fast paced, and you could feel the suspense in every pitch. There were fans from all over. Winnipeg had a good showing, mostly player's families, but there were some fans, too. But other fans showed up, too; Railcats, Dogs, Schaumburg. It was great to see so many people come out to see championship baseball. But I kept thinking one thing, and Chuck was there, and probably thought it too: why can't that be us? Why do I have to drive an hour, or an hour and a half to see championship baseball? Or even just playoff baseball? Anyway, congratulations to the Cougars. Winnipeg (I was rooting for them) never quit. They also deserve a lot of credit for what Logan and the boys did this year. For a three game sweep, it sure didn't feel like one. The game-winning hit in Game 2 was a bloop in the 1st inning. But what a great series. And who knows? Maybe next year the SteelYard will host some games after Labor Day.

The SteelYard ground crew does such an amazing job. Look at Kansas City's debacles this year. Some of the fields look really good, whether it's on AATV or what I've seen in person, but we really do have the best natural field in the Association.

It was two years ago tonight that I was in Lincoln, and that backdrop is just amazing for the fans. As good as it looks on AATV, it's even better in person.

I hope all the players realize that fans really enjoy getting to know them. Any one of these guys could be out of baseball at any time, and I hope they know that we love rooting for them in Gary.

I like the negro league idea either we rebrand for a night or I’d say we should pull a Kane county and keep the name but design our jersey negro league style. Either or seeing that and being a part of that would be a great idea
