yes that is a beautiful instrument that. i have a original with laxey 396. and 0 for operater and would have been on a party line with a neighbouring farm in the 1950's
Thanks for an interesting video - nice phone. The curly handset cord would not have been original to this phone in 1956, but would have been fitted during a GPO refurbishment which, according to the label on the base of the phone, took place in 1967. It is therefore correct for the phone, as the GPO were doing away with the old cloth covered cords during refurbishment. I have several of these phones, but unfortunately none from 1956, which was the year of my birth!
