Thanks for watching! yes, he played very well. First time I have him on film. I've seen him playing at this venue almost every time I've been, and he seems to do well in both doubles and singles.

Thanks for watching, when editing I don't pay attention to the rally count. It's hard enough sometimes keeping up with the score. Especially when the players forget or make a mistake and roll on with the wrong score.

Yes I agree with that statement. I will say what happens sometimes is people sign up for 3-4 tournaments at a time at a particular level then their DUPR passes what they signed up for on the last tournament.

Yeah was thinking the same thing/wondering: ‘dang, is this standard 3.5 play?? If so is everyone I know who signs up for 3.5 open play actually 2.5-3?’

@@tenayasims I can only speak to my local open play. That said, often in open play your not getting the dialed competitor skill like you would in a tournament. some arent focused, trying new things, nursing an injury, ect. Also these guys are "dialed" since they have been winning matches leading to this point. Jeff and parker went undefeated in the upper bracket so they had 4 matches before this gold medal. @@davecotter5548 I appreciate you watching and commenting. Missouri pickleball club (St Louis) hosts a great tournament. I promise you the competition will be tough whatever division you sign up for. The high competition along with double elimination brackets are why we keep going back.

A lot of viewers who comment "players are 3.5 at best" are seeing a style of play like quong's. Players trying that style don't have the pace, spin, accuracy, consistency of quong though.

Having played against her earlier this day. She has a soft game until she sees an opportunity. I got pickled by her and Kirk. In my defense I don't consider my sister and myself a 4.5 mixed team, but a 4.0 team. that was the only opening they had left For mixed in the tournament so we tried our best.

what camera, cameras did you use?

It's a galaxy s23 ultra. I made it sound worse than it was. I thought when it got low on storage it would tell me how many hrs/minutes it had remaining. It didn't, so it ran out of storage. Rookie mistake. I had some Old pickleball recordings on I'd even edited and uploaded and just never deleted the source files off. I also have a GoPro hero 11 that definitely looks worse than my galaxy s23 ultra and s24 ultra. So I try not to use it indoors it looks pretty good with a good sunny day.

The serve in question is at 03:56 I should have added a freeze frame in the video for the audience. this camera angle doesn't do that line call any favors. on TH-cam for computer/browser you can pause the video then use keys "comma & period" to look at the video frame by frame. if you look at the frame where it bounces then take into account of the camera angle it should be a wide serve.

I can see how you feel that way watching it real time. If you will hit the settings button on the video and slow it down to 25% speed it looks out. Add on top of that the camera angle doesn't do him any favors. it should be obviously wide to Brent who called it. I know him personally and in tournaments seen him overturn his own calls or partner calls. Also call his own ball out if a couple of times. The other team didn't argue and looked like they could see it clearly as well.

looked like 4.5 players that had played all day and wore out lol

the gold medal winners the Chius, had 6 matches to 15 before this gold. @scottreich1420 thanks for the invite, I just recorded the match I didn't participate. At the same time both these teams are at the end of a double elimination bracket where they've each played 4/5 best 2 out of 3 matches and came out on top. Some could argue "if it ain't broke don't fix it", "keep doing what works" I however did play the lefty righty team earlier in the bracket. Our strategy was to dink and slow game. They still beat us by having less unforced errors. You can find that video here its the second match within that video. It has chapters for quick navigation. My partner and I had little experience playing with one another prior to the tournament. That cost Kevin and I the match..... 😂 Id have to really slow that down and see about camera angle to definitely call that a foot fault. No I'm just kidding, you two out played us. I enjoyed the match, good sportsmanship, good rallies. After watching it 3 times is it after the Ernie attempt/fake?

Yeah I guess after slowing it down that left toe was on the line while transitioning back from the Ernie cover.

@@sriramtalluri LoL very true. while I watched this live I had zero clue they had that high of a DUPR. What could have happened, this was a very big tournament (for our area, 400+). They capped how many teams could go into each division and it's possible the gold winners registered late and couldn't get into the 4.5. the silver team I happened upon them at the PPA Atlanta slam and they said they were playing 4.0.

@@LandonWilson88 This tournament auto posted scores to dupr right after the matches were completed in real time. Our dupr levels reflected in the video are after both teams had went 7-0 on the day (different pools and first round of bracket play). All of the players listed in the video had a dupr of less than 4.5 when we all entered the tournament, just for some clarity.

@WinCan22 understood, Yeah I just looked at the DUPR ratings for each player at the start of the match.

Thanks for watching! The pickleball brackets rating was still below a 4.0 for these players. Not a good reason, this is a big tournament in our region that draws alot of players in to play. in my experience that tends to lead to players playing down. Im not saying that happened in this game but it definitely happens in our regions bigger tournaments.

Thanks for watching! DUPR is what it is, I think eventually it will be pretty accurate. I can't speak to their skill, but that's what their DUPR was before the match.

His resets, decision making, and counters were good! Perhaps this specific game, he may be the better player out of the four.

@ i guess thats the way it is for everyone, some days, some games better than others, i know it is for me lol! But if I understand dupr correctly then part of the rating is consistency

@@adamwilliams78 yeah, I dont know the mechanics of DUPR. I still wish dupr had a mixed specific rating. People care about the rating so I put it on the players. I think its interesting to see how they represent their number.
