I'm a sucker for that "middle-eastern" harmonic minor feel, so I'm already loving the beat she created for this. The just-tipping-over-into-distortion 808 bass line rumbling along menacingly is great. The fact that she recorded probably a couple of dozen vocal tracks to make up the body of the thing, & put it all together so tastefully, is not lost on me either. It's always nice to hear some tabla for percussion for her to drop some moody bars over too. The whole thing drips attitude - what's not to love?! If only we could get this kind of thing into the charts instead of the brain-destroying vapid muck the industry fills it with, maybe we could have young'uns realise there *are* worthwhile artists out there doing good work! :)

Badflower Family is another great song that hits in a similar way. If you like Badflower then you should check out Manchester Orchestra. They’re absolutely amazing.. their song The Silence is an absolute masterpiece from the perfect instrumentals to the poetic lyrics and then add in Andy’s vocals which are on a different level. I saw them live a few weeks ago and they are one of those few and far between bands (especially these days) who sound just as good, if not better, then the studio version. If you get a chance definitely check them out.

To me, it sounds like a hero's journey music. The song even squeezes out a single man tear. 🥲

Home Free is super talented. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low and then sing high too. Beatboxer, Adam, is amazing. This was done during Covid so they weren’t even together. Try I Can’t Outrun You, Helplessly Hoping, In the Blood, for more great songs!

Tim makes more than your ears vibrate live, it is a trip! It starts at the bottoms of your feet! They do some amazing church songs, Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art and My Church to start. I have loved them for a long time and never heard a bad song. When you hear Tim do those high notes, you will be shocked! Stay/Will You Still Love Me is a perfect example of some of his solo work. These guys are so talented. I saw them live on Saturday. Absolutely fabulous! Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, has a 10-minute solo in the middle of the show. Unbelievable! You might enjoy their cover of Listen to the Music, which really highlights him.

This and the Sea Shanty Medley are my two favorites of their quarantine-era songs, recorded at home during 2020. I love how they incorporate train sounds throughout-Austin’s high “Wooooahwoooah”s sound to me like a train whistle in the distance. Btw, Rob, who wears the glasses, is regarded by the rest of the group as the one with the best singing voice.

Tim has a natural bass voice but can also sing tenor with no difficulty. Saw a show where he blew out a speaker getting so low. He has a 5 octave range. Check out Mayday. Saw them Aug 2nd, (Austin has already left the group), the new Adam was there, said it was his 2nd show. Afterwards went into the bar and the 3 Adams were there. Talked briefly and they were gracious to let me take a group picture. Adam Rupp (beatboxer) started the group with his brother Chris in 2000. Chris left in 2016 for a solo career. Rob (beard, glasses) joined 2008, Tim (bass) joined 2012, Austin (high tenor) joined 2013, Adam Chance (baritone/bass) joined 2016 replaced Chris. Adam Bastien joined 2024 replacing Austin.
