perfect reaction time. Looking like a machine in the first 30m. Insane 30m-80m and holding it together over the closing meters. What a race.
haha omg... yeah - they are what they are
Guts & Glory is Maurice Greene!
This is one of the most underrated championship 100m finals in history. Replays tell the story much clearer. What he did to complete this race and run that time... Unexplainable.
2:00 besvarar.
wouldve hit 9.78 if he didnt do his hammy...into a headwind too....
It think this race could of been a 9.69
With out injury and running through the finish line, greene would have run 9.68 here. With a +2.0 legal wind would have been even quicker than 9.68. Green is just as fast as christian Coleman to 60m, but is better at holding his speed for the last 40m
Greenes shoulders look like Ben Johnson's here.
Thats my cousin
KIM COLLINZ
This was the beginning of the end of Maurice Greene's dominance due to his injury, he was never the same again after this race, maybe he should've pulled out.
Lol I'm 4 months late but I agree. This was the end of his peak right here. He made a lil comeback in 2004(Olympic year Athens games) but his peak was 1997-2001
@@gregmac3513 I think 2002 was his last great year, in 2002 he's got 9.89
@@kemybolt I forgot he ran a 9.89 in 2002. He got hurt that year as well
The best 100m run of green.this result of wr without injuri.9 7 he could do
Without injury he could run it under 9.75 for sure !!! OMg, Great MO Greene
Jesus Christ, analysis of his splits here show he certainly would have done a 9.72 at least here. Back in 2001 that would have been preposterous and nobody would have bettered that time til Bolt in Beijing in 2009.
green would have ran 9.6-9.65 better than bolt
WTF are you talkinga bout? Bolt has 9.58, 9.63, 9.69. 9.72 and a host of 9.7-9.9 performances. Let alone all the insane 200m marks. And based on Greene's usual splits, this would have been a 9.7s run.
Astonishing that he ran that fast pulling his quad. Maurice is an all time great & you see why here!
RÅTTORNA SA ATT DE VAR RÄDDA ATT GÅ UT!VILKA ÄR RÄDDA IDAG?SVENSKARNA!
Mona är oärlig igen.
Clown? Okay, so now you resort to petty insults. That's cool. The Commonwealth Games aren't exactly low-key. In fact, they're one of the largest track and field events out there. Powell has won golds there, as I said. Saying he hasn't won on a "big stage" is just false.
No, YOU check your facts, clown. The World Athletics final is a circuit event with a fancy name. The Olympic Games and World Championships are the highest-profile events in track and field, most prize money, highest viewing figures etc. Powell's record on the big stage when he's facing proper competition is dismal. Does anyone remember Lewis', Bolt's, Greene's, Bailey's etc circuit wins? Nope, because they won on the biggest stage. Powell never has.
Check your facts, please. Powell has 5 golds from the IAAF World Athletics final and one silver, all individual events. Plus one gold from the Commonwealth Games. So 6 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. Unless I'm mistaken, both of those events are/were international (I say were because the World Athletics Final is discontinued). Not to mention Powell has a faster PB in the 100m and has ran under 10 seconds 88 times compared to Maurice Greene's 53.
Sir wht year did powell win a gold medal, are we talking about Asafaor Mike Powell?
Mike has only won two golds at world championships tho. 1991, and 1993.
Prodigal Timmeh Dummy.
Plenty of relay gold and no-mark medals at Mickey Mouse events, yeah. Greene's got 5 individual medals from global (so Olympics / Worlds) 100m finals, four of them gold. Powell's got 2, both of them bronze. Big difference. Powell would shit himself on the line when the pressure was on against Greene, as he has done his whole career.
Even though Powell has won a total of 13 medals and Greene has won 12?
it think he got injured 70m in the race
Greene would have beaten Powell every day of the week in the big meets like this. Greene had the big race confidence and mind set, Powell doesn't. Powell shakes like a shitting dog every time the pressure's on.
Greene and his buddy Drummond were frauds, pair of drug cheats
Green was already over his limits,he was lucky not to find Asafa Powell in his years
yeah its really a shame,mo definitely had the potential for a high 9.6 or perhaps even a mid 9.6 in perfect conditions
I've watched this live and it was such a shame for me, that he got injured in the race. Certainly it could have been an amazing new world record, somehow as fast as Tyson Gay or Asafa Powell later...
2 LANDFÖRÄNDARE
Damn Kim Collins has had a long career. Dude is a champ. Amazing run by Mo especially with the injury!
As I said,Mr Busunglueck, this post was largely IMO (I have read scientific info that suggests Powell would have run 9.67-9.69 in Rieti and Bolt sub 9.6 in Beijing, however.I haven't just made it up).Having watched the Greene race it looks as though the injury didn't impair him as much as I thought. So 9.72-9.76?.I 've been a track fan for 30 years so these are are educated guesses, but I wouldn't stake my life on them.Certainly I'm not untruthful.Link to Greene/iaaf info?Sounds interesting...
Ian Stone at the time i was astonished but he would not have ran 9.72. Greene runs a solid, complete race and seldom pulls away. He was able to hold himself together and get thru, without injury i would say 9.75 max, great time still!
@1976stoney all bullshit. greene had never gone 9.69. actually the iaaf said even if he had run that fast it wouldnt count because the wind was shiftig because of the circulation in the stadium. scientist said powell would have got a 9.72 in rieti not 9.67. looking at the split times tells you that. bolt performance in burssels was strong but not worth a sub 9.7. and the splits of beijing tell us that bolt propably had run 9.6x but no way faster than in berlin
Intrinsically best 100's ever (IMO, certainly not an exact science) 5.)Greene 9.82 2001 (Headwind +injury: worth 9.69-9.74 ish in better circumstances) 4.)Powell 9.74 2007 (eases up in heat, still gets WR, scientist supposedly estimates worth 9.67-9.69-this looks about right) 3.)Bolt 9.77 2008 (into strong headwind, -1.3; wind adjustment calculator says worth 9.69, I say a bit faster, 9.64 or 9.65) 2.)Bolt 9.58 2009 ( 9.60? with nil wind) 1.)Bolt 9.69 2008 (easing up,loose lace 9.55-9.58?)
your adjustments are way out.
@liberator48 Fuck SD...
Without the injury, we're looking at a 9.75 here. A fantastic time now, but seemingly beyong the realms of possibility back in 2001.
@Sdelosinfiernos yea sad! but true :(
