What a fantastic player John Wark was. Loved him at Liverpool.
Watched film with my son back in the '80s and loved it 👍John Wark was such a great player but so funny that he was given only 2 lines in the film which were dubbed by a posh Scottish voice😂 Pele❤ X
“He thought he was bigger than everyone else..” Bar Pele and Michael Caine, and Bobby Moore, he was, jock!
Great player in his era . Seems like such a charming humble guy .
-> Sophies Brauhaus ;)
Really enjoyed that. Great interview, and John comes across as a lovely fella…….but the burnishing question is….who now has Zico’s shirt???
I think John gave it away to a charity auction so it will be in private hands somewhere.
Saltcoats legend
Great player , would loved to have seen him in a Celtic team .
Died in the wool Rangera fan. He did say to me that Celtic tried to sign him three times.
I bet the real reason he wanted John's shirt was because he'd seen him in Escape to Victory. 😆
I didn't think of that! Maybe he already had Pele and Ardilles and wanted to complete the set.
Love John Wark from his time at Liverpool but he also made me kinda like Ipswich as a second team, I always look out for their results :) I remember he nearly knocked us ( Liverpool) out of the 1992 FA Cup playing for Ipswich, his thunderbolt header hit the bar! 0-0 at Portman Road and a crazy 3-2 replay.
It does happen.
what an absolute lovely man, so sweet !
An absolute gentleman to talk to.
Great player in a really good Ipswich team. It was brilliant that both teams had actors and professional footballs all using period correct kit.
No Scotland 🏴 no party 🎉 mat ❤❤❤
What a great player, Scotland could have done with one of his goals last night
Totally agree
Brazil 1982…the best team that NEVER won the World Cup(maybe the Hungarians in 1954 as well!).The defence let themselves down badly against Italy.
When they failed to win the tournament they turned their back on the attack, attack, attack football the world loved and became more defensive. It was the worst thing that has ever happened to world cup football. The winning teams of 1994 and 2002 were nowhere near as beautiful to watch as the 1982 side.
Holland in 74 dar better Brazil a great set of individuals but not a great team, didn't even get to the semi's, looked good against New Zealand and Scotland in the group, but it was New Zealand and Scotland at the end of the day.
@@bernardthegwp71020Yeah,I’d forgotten about the Dutch side of 74,Cruyff,Neeskens,Krol,Rep,Haan,and the Van Der Kerkhof twins.A brilliant side, but I’m sorry that Brazil 82 side was just as good.Zico,Junior,Eder,Falcao,Socrates, these players could have walked into any side. And yes they beat New Zealand and Scotland in their group, but the Scots had a good team with the likes of Dalglish,Wark,Souness,Archibald,Strachan, etc. You can only beat what’s in front of you.Brazils defence let them down in that Italy game, plus they had a lump up front called Serginho. How he got into that team I’ll never know! The Dutch didn’t win the World Cup in 74 or in 78,and that Brazil side didn’t get to the 82 final. It would have been interesting to see who’d have won that game…Holland 74 or Brazil 82?

"Can I score the winning goal?" "You're the goalkeeper, That doesn't happen" - Allison Becker - Hold my beer. Loved John Wark when he was at Liverpool.
Jimmy Glass and Pat Jennings and others.
In America not only will you score the Winning goal as the goalkeeper, you will do it in the world cup final while taking a brief holiday from being the president when half the team have been killed by mutated robots while trying to protect the earth form an incoming asteroid. Scotland play league 2 standard footy and that’s being generous.
What a player ! He spoke about the scotland team being overawed v brazil 82
We were robbed of that pen

No chance
Crazy 100th min winner
I'm hungarian and I say it could be a penalty. We still deserved to win regardless 🇭🇺🫡
You werent robbed
Everytime i watch i always shout at the telly for ozzie to stand him up at the end, but the bugger still keeps sliding in and giving away that penalty. Never listens.
Ossie was a maverick. 😀
A fun movie. Great entertainment watching Pele trying to act and Michael Caine trying to play football.
What a shirt to get!
& what a nice gesture to have given it away for a local charity too. Some man.
What a shirt to get!
A legend❤
Really underrated goal keeper. I have some incredible memories of the old Broomfield and big John. Penalties especially.
I have a few signed photos. I can send one on to you if you want?
@@CS-AyeFootball thanks for the offer. I have quite a few items of old airdrie memorabilia and nowhere to display them properly. Mrs isn't into football. It would be nice thing to donate for a charity though.
I played against John and his mates in a 5 a side tournament in Hadleigh around 2009. They were awesome and John was scoring with both feet. We got smashed but it was still good fun.
John always use to pass my place walking his dog in liverpool
👍🏴🙏
VICTORY has to be the best football film ever made 🏴👍
Ipswich Town at that time...sir bobby robson...john wark, paul mariner, mick mills etc
John Wark probably the best goal scoring midfield player of the 80s.
And 70's.
Sounds a bit simple to me!!🤷♂️
What a stupid thing to say, you should keep those thoughts to yourself.
What a voice ,,he'd put you to sleep with that Boring voice,,Imagine being stuck on a Desert island with this Tadger
Great team great manager....66 games with a squad of 16...unbelievable.
Played against John at school. He went to Victoria Drive, Scotstoun, Glasgow.
John Wark a very good player and his voice belies his hardiness on the field.
Thanks for this. Derby fan of over 50 years. Thrilled to bits Ipswich are back in the big time. Enjoyed my trips to Portman Road, win or lose. Great fan base who know their football. Terrific post too. Very best wishes.
Top man. Will try to get a Derby player.
That Ipswich team definitely underachieved! I wonder what Bobby Robson would have done at Celtic instead of Billy McNeill, second time around!
Wark mentioned that in other video I have with him. Talked about fatigue during Uefa Cup run that cost them the league.
Pretty sure it was the late 90's he turned down the Celtic job
Christ that’s a low blow on Bobby Moore
Smart arse interviewer. He is in the wrong job
@@ricksterk7014 can only assume it’s scots banter as he was England captain and seen as fair game
Think the interviever is embarresed about that remark...Bobby Moore was framed in Mexico spent two days in the cells remained calm and civil...when released when the authorities found evidence he was framed ...he came out said to Alf Ramsey..I'm good to go boss ..that is the ultimate cool cinfident guy.
Disgrace the interviewer the remark about bobby Moore.
I would have thought that John Wark would have later played against Osvaldo Ardiles, Kevin O'Callaghan and Russell Osman.
And possibly john sivabaek when at united
Kevin O`Callaghan was a winger but he played a Goalkeeper. Why?
Stalllone wasn't the cleverest??...he's got an IQ of 160. He just didn't know rules of "soccer" it seems.
Stallone might have been a little ' Stand offish' & ur typical Hollywood Actor& clueless about football, but stupid no!!
stats are like mini skirts they give you good ideas but hide the most important thing
@andrewjohnston2850 true...but he does have certain issues I think with his face and such...which also causes a lot of people to assume unintelligence.....
@@srd911 i think a lot of people think of Rocky when it comes to Stallone a case of art imitaing life
@@andrewjohnston2850 yeah, agreed.
Unlucky not to win the league
He won a couple with Liverpool.
I remember watching the film on a coach full of Liverpool fans on our way to the 1986 FA Cup Semi-final - Warky's appearance caused a great roar through the coach.
GREAT GREAT MIDFIELDER. IN A.. BRILLANT TEAM.
I watched him when we got stuffed 0-4 at Roker Park ,he was about 40 yer old. Fantastic professional, great player
