Kyle Clark on His Big Week, the GOP’s Pride Fail, and Zipper Merge Fever!
It’s Friday and we’re rounding up the news of the week. First, Kyle Clark’s stellar performance as a moderator for the Congressional District 4 debates caught the attention of Jimmy Kimmel, (www.threads.net/@jimmykimmellive/post/C70RLbYJsxa) so we had to ask him about it. The 9News anchor also joins host Bree Davies and producer Paul Karolyi to talk about the Colorado GOP’s weird week (www.cpr.org/2024/06/04/colorado-gop-anti-lgbtq-pride-email/) involving the slandering of Pride and a friendly nod to the Westboro Baptist Church. Then, an epic city council sidewalk disappointment (denverite.com/2024/06/04/denver-sidewalks-repair-fee/) , a celebration of the zipper merge (www.9news.com/article/traffic/zipper-merging-colorado/73-3619acc9-9917-4e65-8f02-57edbbe62545) , and more wins and fails of the week.
We talked about our special series Lauren Boebert Can’t Lose (denver.citycast.fm/lauren-boebert-cant-lose-podcast) , as well as both Kyle (th-cam.com/video/VKExriQfpM4/w-d-xo.html) and Bree’s (denver.citycast.fm/podcasts/why-a-gay-republican-in-denver-is-rejecting-his-own-partys-endorsement) interviews with congressional district candidate Valdamar Archuleta. Kyle mentioned 9News’ review of the handling of the initial investigation (www.9news.com/article/news/local/elijah-mcclain/elijah-mcclain-death-video-interviews-officers-medics/73-c43f6ee3-b8ac-4756-aff1-99f258f5dbb2) into Elijah McClain’s death and Paul shouted out Representative Steph Vigil’s legislation supporting gig workers (news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/colorado-laws-give-gig-workers-new-pay-deactivation-disclosures) . Bree talked about American Culture’s (www.westword.com/music/denver-band-american-culture-welcomes-back-one-of-its-own-20860699) show this weekend at D3 Arts - and you can hear “Hey Brother, It’s Been a While” (convulserecords.bandcamp.com/album/hey-brother-its-been-a-while) , the band’s latest release on Bandcamp.
For more on the Westboro Baptist Church, Paul recommends this interview with former Westboro member Megan Phelps-Roper (nadiabolzweber.com/101-megan-phelps-roper/) . It’s from a podcast he produced a few years ago, hosted by the badass local pastor Nadia Bolz-Weber.

Why a Gay Republican in Denver is Rejecting His Own Party's Endorsement

This week, the Colorado GOP sent out an email with the subject line, “God Hates Pride.” (www.9news.com/article/news/local/local-politics/colorado-gop-call-burn-gay-pride-flags/73-e5156582-2888-46d2-b535-d5981c149817) The email, containing a picture of a laser-eyed Jesus over a pride flag with the phrase “God Hates Flags”, saw a lot of pushback online - even from within the party. One of the mos...

I listened to your podcast and found it very interesting. Thank you for sharing your discussion. I am an old Generation X guy who lived in Denver or Boulder at intermittent times throughout the 1990s and into 2002. Back then, Denver was most certainly "Menver". I am saying this as a modern data scientist. The key is looking at the dating range of single adults who are in the age range of about 25-35. The single men in that age range most definitely outnumbered the single women by far. This explains my experience. The only time I ever dated in Denver was when I was in my very early 20s (21 and 23). I recall going on group dates or a "hiking" date with other college females (undergraduates) at CU Boulder. I also went on a group date at age 23 with women from Northglenn of about the same age - one of them was my friend's fiancee. But then that was it. I was a summer student or intern in 1990, 1992, and 1995 in Boulder or Denver. At age 28, I completed my master's degree in biomedical engineering at Arizona State and returned to Boulder in 1998 for an engineering job. I worked on different engineering projects for four years at various companies in Boulder, Westminster, and Lafayette. I basically lived and worked off the Boulder Turnpike. I was in my athletic prime in my late 20s to early 30s and was a very rigorous mountain runner. My resting heart rate was measured at CU Denver Health, and it was abnormally low due to excessive mountain running. So, I had a good job with high pay, a master's degree, and excellent mountain running aptitude with a height of 6'1" and body build of a college football linebacker. I routinely played pickup basketball at CU Boulder. A lot of teen undergraduates hated to guard me because I ran too much. I was in great cardio health - a big guy who could run. But I was dateless. I was invisible. I spent a lot of time on the trails of Boulder, the CU campus gym, or other gyms in Westminster and Denver. I routinely ran large, organized running races (e.g. Bolder Boulder 10k) in my four years there. I was physically in my prime but essentially invisible. I NEVER met a woman such that I began dating. After a few years, I tried to break out of being dateless by joining a Catholic singles group in Denver. That didn't work out either. I remember there was a very large social event somewhere near Littleton, but I was invisible there too. I came to the conclusion that Denver was just too competitive with excess men. To me, the name "Menver" was accurate. To prove my point, in 2002 I moved to Tallahassee, FL. The job market died for engineers in Metro Denver and Boulder in 2002. The only job I could find was in Florida. Immediately, I noticed the difference in Tallahassee. The town is known for beautiful southern belles of FSU who outnumber the men. I got excessively FAR MORE ATTENTION in Tallahassee relative to Boulder. The difference was between night and day. I actually dated in Tallahassee. I met many women over the years in the gyms of Tallahassee and FSU. I also met women in graduate classes at FSU. The demographic distribution of Tallahassee was far different. It was not "Menver" but the exact opposite. There was a classic video that went viral for the FSU-Miami game in the early days of Facebook (2005). A video of Jenn Sterger went viral when Brent Musberger focused in on her. I saw her in the campus gym. There were lots of women like her at FSU. I still remember the day when a female aerobics instructor came up to me while riding the exercise bike. I just couldn't believe it was happening and was caught off guard. So, the demographic distribution often does favor single men or single women depending on the location. Areas that favor men appear to be New York, Metro DC/Northern VA, Tallahassee, the I-4 corridor of Central Florida, Houston, Austin, and Dallas/Fort Worth. Areas that favor single women (relatively) would be Boulder/Denver, Seattle, Portland, San Jose ("Man Jose"), San Diego ("Man Diego"), Alaska, etc. At the collegiate level, any of the major tech universities like MIT or Georgia Tech usually have far more men than women. Conversely, many colleges now have women outnumbering men. So, the key is location. As for modern Denver of 2024, I think the "cultural" factors also have to be taken into account. There is a MGTOW movement out there to some varying degrees of intensity. I think the factors of inflation, housing costs, horrible divorce statistics, and social media disparaging marriage, etc. make more men less likely to be committed even in places like Denver. Young adults are also less likely to be religious. That can also be a factor in avoiding marriage. But still, I think Denver still favors single women rather than men compared to places like New York or Tallahassee where the opposite is true. I know from personal experience. I remember going to a club date with two women at FSU - my girlfriend and her sister. I remember thinking "I couldn't even conceptualize doing this in Boulder, CO". Go figure. Location is a major factor in dating odds from the perspective of a data scientist. Now, the older, divorced single women of about 40+ generally start to outnumber single men even in places like Denver. I was specifically talking about the age range of 25-35. I think that brings up another point of discussion - dating after 40+. But Denver is indeed "Menver" for ages 25-35. The data proves it.
She has a great HANDle on politics.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Go Colorado - stop the cancel culture & indoctrination of our children!!! Maybe we can all stop living in Sodom and Gomorrah just waiting for God to smite us for allowing this degradation of our morals.
She built her brand by being Fled Cruz's prosti..... ah, ah escort. Remor has it she had group rates for bachelor parties and conventions.
I like how Boebert went to support Trump at his fraud trail but bailed on her son at his own trial. In her defense, her son is a lost cause. Look who raised him.
And the Titanic is unsinkable.
Is this a pro-boobert podcast? Ew. Btw Bree sounds identical to Francesca Florentini of the Bitchuation Room
Love the truth on bobert
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 she's such a loser!
Boob bert
Don't nobody want to hear your podcast about stupid lauren bulbert
She will lose in general election if not in primary..what a turd
LAUREN BOEBERT: Canned loser
D you have any bikini pics? 😏😛😍
"Let us know what you think". Okay. This person should not represent us. She represented us in District 3, and she is biased about energy. I mean, just keeping this on an objective basis. She doesn't give the state a fair shake about what it wants in terms of energy or environmental concern. I live in Rye, Colorado, grew up in Pueblo. Spent ten years trying to live in Texas in the 80s, but I came home to work with family. I care what goes on around Pueblo, especially with the steel mill and the wind turbine factory. We have the world's largest wind turbine factory that she couldn't be bothered to visit once in her 2 terms. Visits local Republicans at our restaurants, quietly in and out. Showed up with an odd cohort at the Convention Center with Floridian gadfly, Matt Gaetz. So come on! She doesn't serve us. She doesn't serve the USA in a sense, ignoring renewable energy development. I honestly don't care about her personal baloney. I mean, it's counter-productive and distracting, and now maybe she's realizing that might work in her favor because of this victim hood BS Republicans seem only too glad to exploit. I want my representative to be boringly good, on the ball mentally, educated, fair. Not clever, smug, quick to anger. I want my representative to be fair. Above all, in voting she is biased. She has her agenda. She ought to do something else. She doesn't serve the public. She serves herself.
A graveyard, is within a churchyard, A cemetery is all others, Fact.
Serious? You're going to do a podcast about this unhinged person? Don't need to tell me more to not open your videos.
Don't punish us for driving until public transit is more usable. People drive because buses don't go where they are needed when needed.
It's going to be back to escorting in no time.
Do you know who I am
Ew. A whole podcast about Bobo? No, no!
She's gonna lose. She's just a loser. Such a loser 😂😂😂
Bimbert was the girl in high school who never paid attention in class, was known for giving handjobs behind the bleachers, and was always trashed out of her gourd at every party. She dropped out of high school, as is common knowledge, yet the people in Colorado felt she was qualified to make decisions about their own futures. Great job, CO!
Thank you for reporting on this. I am not an expert but I cannot imagine the amount of resources - housing, social workers, etc - necessary to make a dent in the problem and provide people with the level of wrap around services they need to change the trajectory of their life.
If she represents America's future politics then we as Americans are fucked 😮
He needs to be kicked off the team. Incredibly disrespectful to put your team through this two years in a row.
A dumb channel for dumb people
A moose could get elected if it put on a MAGA hat in her district.
The best is yet to come.
She is soon to reclaim the corner under the ⛽ gas lit lamp. Lest we forget Beetle juice 🥤.
Let's be clear, she was an Escort when she Is met with ted cruse. He then donated over a hundred thousand dollars to help her get started in politics. FACT. I wouldn't vote for her, but I would take her to the movies, As long as she doesn't still smell like ted.
Apparently she is passionate about public urination. Not on Colorado, but in Washington DC.
Boebert is so uneducated and incompetent .
I don't know, she may be second runner up to MGT.
Lauren has the right to do whatever she wants on her days off and that pregnant lady was a snitch, too. And how come she never gets kudos for when she stopped hooking? You just can`t please everybody ...
"That pregnant lady" had EVERY RIGHT IN THE WORLD TO "SNITCH," a term primarily used by thugs in prison, but I digress. I'M GLAD SHE COMPLAINED and got that BIMBO BIMBOBERT, REMOVED.
WHo says she stopped hooking?? She was diving for votes with that Democrat date ya know.....

What laws has she introduced? How has she helped her district in any way?
By moving and has a voter in her old district I am very grateful.
No it’s not hard to not watch her at all. I don’t watch train wrecks either though. She’s just too trashy to represent anyone
Be sure to interview the neighbors her thug children terrorized on their ATVs!
A life not too soon forgotten.
Coprophilia is a serious condition. Yet, there is still hope if you seek help.

Lauren Boebert can and will lose.
