SENSEN Shocks & Struts
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 16 มี.ค. 2016
On our SENSEN channel, we will be demonstrating how to change SENSEN shocks & struts or SPEEDY STRUTS, our complete strut assemblies. SENSEN shocks & struts come with a limited lifetime warranty. They are benchmark tested against industry leaders for quality and designed to meet or exceed original equipment specifications. SENSEN has been manufacturing shocks & struts since 1985. Their shocks & struts use Japanese NOK seals for superior leak resistance and come with a premium powder coated finish to provide a long lasting corrosion and rust protection. The SENSEN brand is where quality meets affordability.

TESLA Model 3 install struts and shocks SenSen
In this video we’re swapping out the suspension on a Tesla with DMA Industries SenSen brand shocks and Speedy Struts. We’ll show you, our DIYers, a step by step process and how our OE products will help improve the quality of your ride and performance of your vehicle.
This is footage of how the car rides with the original manufacturer's shocks and struts.
“We’ll show the comparison with data later in the video”
“Here is a list of the tools needed and torque specifications for these parts, go ahead and pause the video here for a close look.”
We want to give a shout out and thanks to our friends at Averill Automotive and NAPA Auto Care Center on Executive Avenue in Myrtle Beach. These guys are professionals who take quality and customer service seriously and follow a strict code of ethics so their customers know exactly what to expect.
Our friend Rick will be our service technician for this installation today.
As a measure of consistency, we’ve checked the measurement of the current stance which is at 16 and a ¼ inches from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the quarter panel.
First remove the “tub” from the front of the car while being careful that you don’t crack or break any of the plastic parts while removing them. With the tub removed this will give you access to the upper bolts that hold the struts in place.
“It is typically a good idea to replace these components after 80 to 120 thousand miles and when you hear creaking noises and experience excessive bouncing in your suspension.”
Now go ahead and remove the wheels and have easy access to the front suspension assembly.
Using a 13mm socket to remove the nuts from the mounting bolts on top… We’ve found that this particular model has small holes for the socket to fit through so Rick uses a grinder to grind down a socket just enough to fit in the holes and then was able to loosen those nuts from the bolts. It’s also handy to loosen the top mounting plate to wiggle it around with a screwdriver to line up the bolts with the holes.
Be sure to loosen the brake lines and any wiring from the assembly and push them out of the way.
Then loosen the bottom bolt from the strut.
Here is a shot of the side by side comparison of the old strut with the new one… notice that they’re identical.
Now install the new struts in the same fashion as the old ones were removed.
Next, be sure to replace the old sway bar links with the new ones.
“This is a good time to go ahead and replace those sway bars while they’re worn and,
it is easier to get to them while doing this type of work.”
Now reassemble the entire front suspension.
Moving on to the rear suspension… remove the wheels and the lower shock bolts.
Using a jack, place pressure on the lower control arm to aid in the removal of the lower shock bolt.
The car can then be raised to loosen the upper shock mounts.
Here is a side by side comparison, notice the similarities with the old and the new shock.
With the shock now in place and the upper mounts tightened, also tighten the lower shock bolt.
Now replace the sway bar links with the new ones.
Replace all wheels and tighten each lug nut to the specified torque recommendation.
Finally, carefully reinstall the front tub assembly under the hood.
Our new stance measurement came to 16 and ⅛ of an inch and that is well within the manufacturer's specifications.
Our road test with the new suspension has proven to be a much smoother ride with better handling and performance overall.
“Here’s a before and after comparison of our test data.”
Thank you so much for watching this DMA Industries video..

Why does this sound like a 70s porn movie?
Can you get the strut assembly in the lower sleeve without a lift? It looks as i you are pressing the strut into place with the weight of the vehicle?
I can't believe what I just watched, you do not have to remove the ball joint from the lower control arm and all you needed to do was lower the subframe on that side and that job is in and out without removing the brake assemblies. As a 40-year mechanic and the owner of a shop for 30, this was extremely hard to watch. Nothing was properly torqued and everything was just hammered back together with an air gun. Yes folks these are the dangers mechanics working on your car on the daily basis. Absolutely defective
For this repair the axle don’t need to be removed from the hub?
No, it is not necessary to remove the axle for this particular repair. Thank you for watching and your comment.
Just finished the same job in my driveway. My biggest piece of advice is, when installing the new ones, get the bottom end on first. Then cut the strap, then use the jack to slightly manipulate the top end into position. Mine only needed to move ~1/4”.
Good point! That's a great tip to share, Thanks for watching!
Did you have to remove the lower ball joint from the knuckle? i need to do this repair and have seen lots of trouble on that.
Every situation is different... In some cases it may be easier in the removal process to disconnect the ball joint. IN this case it wasn't necessary, you may have to be prepared to do so in case the situation calls for it.
Was nice of them to leave a 14mm deep socket in the trunk where its free to rattle around while driving
That could get annoying. Thanks for watching.
You guys make it look easy. Great job. I guess you could replace the ball joints and do the brake pads while you’re in there at the same time if need be. 👍🤘
Yep, I agree. Might as well and go ahead and take of any of those other problems while in there. Thank you for watching.
Just let that caliper hang by the brake line…🙄
A little oversight. Nothing was damaged. Thank you for watching.
Great video, although you've got to be pretty lucky if the swaybar links come out without cutting or torching. Best to have them on hand when doing this job. Also, it seems the 1999 corolla does not have slots in the brake line mounting bracket on rear struts. It's a hole. You have to open the brake line an feed it through the hole and afterwards bleed the brakes. The other alternative is to cut the mounting bracket, but the new one has the same configuration. This is just a heads up to people before they start the project so they know what they might be getting into.
Thank you for watching and for your input. We always strive to make our videos as informational as possible.
professional installers don't cut the carpet
You may be correct about that. This is a DIY video for information purposes only. We don't make any claims that anyone in these videos are professional.
Wish you guys talked more about the process for rhe newbie
Thanks for watching... I'm sorry you felt like you didn't get enough information. While our videos are for informational purposes only (for the DIY folks who try to tackle this work on their own) we suggest try consulting with a professional for any questions you may have.
Gracia, could you make a video on how to replace the fronts?
Welcome... Thanks for watching and for your input.
No alignment needed? I just replaced my rear struts but didn't want to tackle the front for fear I'd need an alignment. Didn't want to do it wrong and ruin a set of tires driving to alignment shop.
YES... An alignment check is recommended whenever suspension work is done. It is safe to drive without checking to give yourself some time to get to a tire shop where you can have that done. You may notice the alignment being off if you feel it pull to one side or the other. But in most cases you really won't notice anything.
Terrible video
Outstanding video! Helped me tremendously - Thank You - God Bless!!!!!
You are most welcome. Thanks for watching our video and so happy to know it helped you.

Thank you for watching our video. Sorry, we do not provide the services... these videos are for informational purposes only to show how to perform the work yourself. You will need to inquire one of our vendor auto parts stores that sells SenSen Shocks and Struts to purchase the parts.
Guess every torque to max psi....the problem with mechanic these dayz....they do the same with the lug nuts.....impact does everything even strip the threading...amazing....most people don't know how to properly use a impact...
Hi... thank you for watching and pointing these things out. Unfortunately you are correct in your assessment. We however do recommend the use of proper torquing for ensuring a safe install. Thank you for your input.
That tire is bold 😮
Haha. It sure is. Thanks for watching.
11k views and no one commented about the lack of torque wrench usage? Yikes this is scary stuff.
Hey Thanks for watching and for pointing that out. Remember the use of a torque wrench is a recommendation and not a requirement. We do recommend our DIYers to use a torque wrench whenever possible, and we are using new technicians for our new videos going forward who will demonstrate the use of torque wrench on these projects.
Very helpful thanks
Awesome! Thank you for watching.
You shouldn’t torque the top down before reattaching the rotor…
Good advice... Thanks for watching our video and for your comment and suggestion.
Terrible video. Just for clicks. No value whatsoever. SKIPPED EVERYTHING useful to know. And don’t ask stupid questions- others have already mentioned some of the issues. BOO!

Agreed... thanks so much for watching.
Awesome. thank you so much man. Very clear and straight to the point even added the bolt sizes. I appreciate it.
Awesome... glad you liked it.

Good job. Thx for the video.
Thanks for watching! Thanks for the kind remarks.

Awesome! Thank you for watching. I hope it works out well for you.

I do not recommend but this can also be done without lifting or removing the wheel in a emergency.
Thank you for your comment. We do welcome any and all comments but please be aware of all safety concerns.
This looks easier than I thought.
Thank you so much for watching our video and for your kind comment. We wish you the best of luck with your project.
Is all that oil spatter at 2:15 from the blown shock?
Thank you so much for watching our video on our channel and for your comment. My tech expert assures me that it is entirely possible that it could be oil from a blown shock but not 100 percent positive. It is possible that it could be from something else. Just remember that shocks do wear out gradually and it is a good idea to replace them before it gets to a point where they become a problem such as this.
Exactly what i was looking for , now i can do it myself :) tks
Thank you for watching. I'm glad we could help.
Thank you! Excellent video. Helped me out of a jam
So happy to hear
The BMW specs for the torque of the bolts doesn't matter? Just bolt it back on?
You didn't torque anything😮
To speed up the video process, unfortunately, torque wrench shots were removed during the final edit.
do i even need to get a torque wrench ?
Yes you do. To speed up the video process, unfortunately, torque wrench shots were removed during the final edit.
NICE
Thanks
Now this is the kind of detail I like in a video. Thanks man. Not too hard of a job.
Thanks. Glad you liked it!
so what did you torque the bolt to? lol
Thank you so much for watching our videos. I am not sure which bolt you are referring to but thanks for pointing this out to us. I am sure there are some resources on the internet where you can find the information you need but I assure you moving forward from this point we will be sure to include this information in our videos. Again, thanks.
70 ugga duggas
Can you use the same struts for front and back?
No, you can not.
Great video, no side talks or waste of time. Right to the point and a job well done, thank you
You're welcome!
I think I’m pretty handy. It sure doesn’t look that hard? Do you think I can do it?
We say go for it!
You don’t bother to torque any of the nuts to the proper spec?! I’ll make sure to never bring my car to this “professional” installer!
To speed up the video process, unfortunately, torque wrench shots were removed during the final edit.
Editing out one of the most important parts of the install is bad policy. At the very least, they should have mentioned the fact that torquing the fasteners is required. 😏
@@joekoenig9587 Thanks for your feedback. We intend to add a graphic to reinforce the importance of always torquing the bolts associated with any repair.
been some time but, do you know if it's the same as a disc brake setup?
same thing
you totally skipped over the part where you removed the brake hose retaining clip.....
To speed up the video process, unfortunately, some shots were removed during the final edit.
what else in the front end should be done to compliment the new stuts?
Check ball joints, control arms, and steering linkage for excessive play
This was a huge help. Just finished the job today. Much appreciated!
Glad to hear! Thanks
