So, in the timelines that we've seen, in "Black Friday," Miss Holloway has been defeated because we see Wilbur Cross wearing a denim jacket when he's talking with The President while he's in the Black and White. And now in "Nerdy Prudes Must Die," Steph's dad says that he got the book 15 years ago. Considering that the current group of characters graduates in the 2020s, we could probably say that the year the play takes place in is either Early 20s or late 20-teens. I theorize that Miss Holloway and Wilbur Cross had their fight in the 90s or early 2000s, and Miss Holloway was defeated again, losing possession of her jacket and the book. Mayor Lauter was given the book (Maybe also some events that lead to Steph's birth? But that's just a tinfoil hat theory that I have, pay no attention to me) and then buried it for the Nerdy Gang to use later to defeat Max Jagerman. And now I think I can say, for these two instances, Miss Holloway is defeated and possibly in the recovering stage of her resurrection. 1, Because in the stories where she has full control of the book and is still alive (Witch in the Web and Killer Track) she's able to use the powers she possesses and the spells in The Book to thwart the plans of the Lords in Black and 2, both plays had instances where the Lords in Black and other evil forces were tormenting children. And I believe that if Miss Holloway heard about a group of teens being hunted and killed by a vengeful ghost, she would have gone Fucking Beast Mode on him. - Anyway. Who's Miss Holloway? I watched a character analysis of Grace that said that by the end of the show she's lost all of her faith in god, and replaces him with the lords in black. She was taught her whole life to obey a creator she never saw with no proof, and she thought this was all God's plan. when, in her eyes, he turns on her, she decides to worship the gods she can see and continue being powerful in a different way.

Imo, the lyrics "I've been thrown to the wolves of my community" in the Highschool is Killing Me song does a really good job summing up where the MC's struggles come from. The adults are shown to be of little-to-no help for the students of Hatchetfield High (whether it's because they're raised under extreme belief systems like Grace Chasity, lectured on anti-bullying when it's cosmetically helpful and characters - like Max Jagerman - have deeper issues none of the adults address, the students feel that they can't come forward about bullying issues to their principal, etc.) With no one for the students to turn to for their problems, a lot of them pass away before they could grow into their full potential. It also fits for a lot of the MCs since they're at age of being legally adults while also still being teenagers developmentally - which puts them in a vulnerable position to be preyed upon by their community (such as what the Lords in Black do).

In Nerdy Prudes Must Die when the rest of the characters are standing in the background as Richie dies i think indicates that the students were there in the area watching the game while he died, cause Richie was obviously at the game but was still in the locker room when he died. Everyone else was just outside, at the field. Meaning they were literally so close to where Richie got tortured for like the entire game.

7 months late and idek if this was intentional or not but the ending of the song npmd really feels like Max is talking about himself. first he starts with telling Richie to repeat after him and then him saying the lyrics feels like him mocking Richie like oh who will miss you when you die (who will pray for me when i’m gone) but then he goes to repeat the lyrics, but Richie isn’t repeating after him feeling like it’s Max talking about himself like who will miss HIM when HE dies? like there was a whole song of people being so happy that he was dead. then he switches back to having Richie repeat after him when he’s mocking Richie again and shaming him for killing him. “this is the consequence for what you’ve done.” i feel like max was lowkey so devastated after dying and had nobody to truly mourn him edit: also, i know in npmd he literally says he doesn’t care that they killed him but i do think he cares that everyone is so happy about him being gone
