Glorified Worm (Barbless Update)
มุมมอง 454หลายเดือนก่อน
This has been a great fly to take out with my kids! Drop it below an indicator at the pond, in a small stream, or sight fish it in clear water - and then hold on tight as you catch bluegill, bass, trout, carp (if you're chasing carp reach out and I can tie it on an even sturdier hook for more success), and the list goes on. Heavy Bear Worm
มุมมอง 1804 หลายเดือนก่อน
Definitely very related to the Bear Worm - this pattern incorporates the same principle of using some of often wasted materials and turning them into a fish catching fly. Señorita Electrica
มุมมอง 1324 หลายเดือนก่อน
A little about this fly - a friend wanted something that would be durable enough to withstand the sharp teeth of hungry surf fish. After some conversations the Señorita Electrica was modified to specifically target lady fish - an often under appreciated fish in the surf. This fly has now landed a couple of species of snapper, yellow jack, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, blue runners, and even a bab...
Peacock Ant - soft hackle
มุมมอง 1954 หลายเดือนก่อน
Using the iridescent color of the peacock herl to build a tasty ant body with some soft hackle legs to add motion and life to the fly! Click here to check out the product listing and links to the tying materials: tinyurl.com/mrydh575
A nice kit. I bought a Wapsi popper kit before & liked it. The only modification I had to do was cut a larger slit in the foam body for the hook to sit in.
Glad you had a good experience with that Wapsi popper kit! Did you get any fish on those poppers?
@NotOnlyTrout I've made 3 poppers from the kit, but haven't fished with them yet. Lol
Good stuff!!
Thanks Brian! I appreciate you and the support you give to the channel!
I like to wrap the hook shank with some type of flash. A doubled up strand of crystal flash works well. Might go with a color close to the legs, the body or neither.
I haven't tied a Squirmy Wormy or San Juan Worm yet. I need to, because it looks fun to tie. Thanks for the video!
They are quick to tie up and they work!! Make sure to give me a shout if you have any questions!
@NotOnlyTrout Will do.

Such a simple pattern but perfect for a little bluegill fun in my local lake. Thanks for the idea Spencer!

Nice one 🎉
Thanks Dave! Some flies are just messy fun - this is one of them!
Thanks! You made that look easy! Gonna try making some!
I bet you can do a great job on them! If you tie them up I'd love to see them (tag me on twitter or instagram with @notonlytrout)
Same as the complex twist by the looks of it great technique turns out flies quick
You are right on both fronts! Very very similar to the complex twist AND it is absolutely is a great way to turn out flies quickly and it definitely catches fish!
Not your average hares ear..I like it!!
Thanks! Hopefully you can tie some up and catch some fish on them!
Thanks for sharing. I like the looks of this fly & look forward to tying them.
Can't wait to see how they turn out!

That’s buggy stuff. Definitely on my next order….
It is some super fun stuff to use - great sized for trout and bass flies! (plenty of other fish eat this size fly too)
Oh man that’s gotta be a corbina killer. Just when I thought I’ve tied them all….thanks for the tie idea!
Can't wait to see how you tie this fly up!
So buggy it’s downright ugly. Bet it catches so who cares what it looks like Gonna have to try this one!
It is definitely a buggy and fuzzy pattern!
I haven't worked with Extreme String or Chenille like that. At some point, I need to, lol. Thank you for the video.
You definitely need to give it a try! I'll reach out to you and give you some details about it!

Ciclids in florida rip my squirmies apart. These look much more Durable than the average squirmy wormy.
I have a tiktok account its the same name as here without the numbers i show off the flis i make on the
I'll go check it out! thanks!
Hey @dannydecare2116 and @rebelsqk! As promised here is the Heavy Bear Worm! If you tie up some other variants of this fly, please share them with me via Twitter or Instagram.
I have neither I got a Facebook and a tiktok and lol ya Brad..... not like I had anything to do with it 😂
you definitely played a part in getting the second fly out as quickly as you did! THANK YOU!
I like it I'd add flat lead to it but I love it I'm definitely going to be making it
Very nice! I also think it needs a bit of weight. Maybe lead in the fly or a bead?
Stay tuned! Either tonight or tomorrow I'll be sharing the Heavy Bear Worm (same concept but heavy haha)
You are on to something ;) Brad (person who helped me design the fly) and I had discussed both a weight free and a weighted version of the fly. Tonight or tomorrow night I'll get the Heavy Bear Worm loaded.
@@NotOnlyTrout foam is my favorite material iv made woolybugers aka Boyant-bugers them float well I run them behind a heavy sinking fly iv made San Juan worm with a foam wrapped body if done right you can You could make it a really slow sink even a Suspending san Juan worm
That is awesome! I haven't done any foam wrapped San Juan worms... Maybe I'll have to play around with that concept this winter...
Looks great!! That’d be a great saltwater fly too. Very multi dimensional tie. Kudos!!
This fly is designed for salty waters and has caught a bunch of different species! Im certain it would fool some redfish and some big freshwater pond bass as well!
Nice looks great
Thanks, John! Hope you're doing well! It is a tasty morsel that has caught its fair share of fishies!
I like it. I'm always a fan of streamer, deceiver, & baitfish patterns.
I'll be getting some more streamer/baitfish/saltwater patterns out shortly! Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the instructions.
Thank you! It is a fun tie!
Simple and Effective !!!! Take Care
Thank you! Trout and Bream beware!!
Great to watch your time with old style materials. And I know the Indian hen hackles can be a bit tricky. Thanks for sharing. All the best from the UK.
Thank you for the comment! I need to spend more time with India hen and do some more soft hackles (especially for my winter trout box). Any recommendations on what soft hackle pattern to tie up next?
Great wet fly.
Thank you so much! Hope you tie some up!
It's a nice-looking fly. Thanks for the instructions.
You are welcome! Thanks for the comment! Tie some up and catch some fish!
Gidday, nice tutorial. Thanks.
Thank you! Hope you can tie some up and get some awesome fish caught!
Great pattern
Thank you so much! Do you do a lot of fly fishing for carp? What are some of your favorite patterns?
Nice video and a nice easy fly to tie. I’m in the uk and thinking of having a go at carp on the fly. Most of our carp are in stillwaters used by bait fishermen. How would you fish this? Floating line and long leader and figure 8 retrieve?
Thank you! You could definitely fish this fly that way - especially if fish visibility is a challenge. In clearer water I would use a drag and drop approach to get the fly to fall either in the path of a cruising fish or right next to a tailing fish.
I have the materials to do this fly, I'd just need the Ezee thread. Could do these in a variety of color patterns. Thanks for the instructions.
@@BeyerOutdoors shoot me a message - I have it in stock and will be reordering more
NIIIICCCCEEEEE
Thank you! Definitely an effective pattern!
A nice looking pattern.
Thank you! Drop this in front of a hungry carp and hold on tight!
Uber simple and I’d eat that
Definitely a simple and effective pattern!
Sweet!
Thank you! Simple and dirty! What more can we ask of a carp fly?
Thank you for the instructions.
My pleasure! I hope you tie some up and catch some fish! Make sure to share what you tie up!
