PUNJABI CHICKEN MASALA (IN ENGLISH) | EASY CHICKEN INDIAN CURRY RECIPE #ChickenPunjabiCurry
Punjabi Chicken Curry is a flavourful and spicy dish that is a staple in Punjabi cuisine. This recipe is from Punjab, India and also known as Tari wala chicken or Dhaba Style Chicken.
Ingredients:
• Chicken Drumsticks: 1 kg
• Onions: 4 large (finely chopped)
• Tomatoes: 3 medium (blended/pureed)
• Ginger: Thumb Size piece (finely chopped)
• Garlic: 4 pieces (finely chopped)
• Green Chilies: 2-3 (finely chopped)
• Butter: Knob of butter
• Fresh Coriander Leaves: for garnish
• Water: Glass of water
Spices:
• Cumin Seeds: 1 tsp
• Cinnamon Stick: 1 inch
• Green Cardamoms: 2-3
• Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
• Red Chilli Powder: 1-2 tsp (adjust to taste)
• Garam Masala Powder: 1 tsp
• Salt: to taste
• Kasuri Methi: 2 tsp (dried fenugreek leaves)
Instructions:
1 - Blend the onions in a blender
2 - Heat the butter in a pan.
3 - Add cumin seeds and leave for a 2-3 minutes.
4 - Add the finely chopped onions and cook on medium heat until they turn golden brown.
5 - Blend the tomatoes into a puree.
6 - Finely chop the Ginger, Garlic and Chillies.
7 - Add the chicken to the pan and cook for about 15 mins.
6 - Stir in the tomato puree and leave for 10 mins
7 - Add in the Ginger, Garlic and Chillies
8 - Add in the cardamom and cinnamon stick. Crush the cardomoms before adding into pan.
9 - Add in 1 tsp of Salt, Turmeric & Garam Masala.
10 - Add in 1 tsp of Tandoori Masala.
11 - Add in 1 glass of water.
12 - Cover the pan with the lid and left it boil for 10 - 15 mins. Keep checking and stir the pan every couple of minutes.
13 - Add in the 2 tbsp Fenugreek (Kasoori Methi).
14 - Chop the Fresh Coriander for garnishing.
15 - Taste the dish and add in more salt or spices.
16 - Garnish the dish with the coriander.
17 - Serve with Roti, Rice, Chappati or Naan.
18 - Enjoy!

Punjabi Chicken Curry pairs wonderfully with steamed basmati rice, naan, or roti. Enjoy this dish with a side of yogurt or a fresh salad to balance the spices.
