Shockingly, a lot of the Rebels were captured Imperials or those who deserted from the Empire's ranks. Eventually, they started to question Vader's methods, and decided it would be better to face imprisonment than servitude to the Empire, especially seeing how they were often punished for their failure. The Rebellion was by no means perfect, but they were the galaxy's best hope for a better future.

There’s definitely a story behind the rebels on each of these maps. The fact they have different heroes and slightly different outfits seems like they’re pro republic or pro Jedi dissidents, united against the empire. Keep ‘em coming.
