D'backs fan here. Catchy song. Heard many great things about Target Field and learning more about the Twins and their culture and history this year as I am going up to Minneapolis in July for a vacation and I'm making a visit to Target Field to catch a Twins game during that vacation! I also happen to be going to the ballpark when they come to Phoenix in June. Can't wait for both games, and I definitely can't wait to be at Target Field this July. I've also heard many great things about Twins fans!

Hi, My mom sang a version of this to us when we were kids. She said she sang it in her camp in Maine in the 1940s. She has since passed away (she would be 93 now). Her version went like this: I’m Lenin, I’m Trotsky We’re Russian diplomotsky When he says no, I say yes One of us is right, I guess! Hi ho, hi ho Off to Moscow we shall go That’s all I can recall.

Yes, it was a round. This recording doesn't really capture the singing well, unfortunately, though it does create a wall of sound overall.

This is the correct version that the twins take the field to and have taken the field every year since 2001. This was the 1984-1991 version. A 1991-2000 version also exists and that version is when the twins won the world series in 1991. Theyve kept it since 2002 because when we brought it back we went to the alcs the first year
I sang this song at camp Ajawah back in 1960, or so. I later saw it in a book of "Campus Songs" that was lying about at a "pickin' pot luck" I attended in the 1990's (unfortunately, I didn't, at the time, note the author or full title of the book, but it was hardbound, and looked like it had been published in the first half of the twentieth century). The song sounds like it has vaudeville origins from the late nineteen-teens, though.
Hello fellow Ajawaher! Thanks for the info - at least I now know that the song goes back at least that far; I don't supposed you had any idea of how long it had been sung or who taught it, or you likely would have mentioned it. The song is still popular at camp 5+ decades on...

I wonder if, in the offices of Camp Ajawah, they have the "campus songs" book, or some other songbook with this song in it. it would be equally interesting if the song was just passed down orally from camp-counselor-to-camp-counselor over the years.

The recording fidelity is not very good, so it's hard to make out much of the singing other than the first few seconds and the last few seconds; once you get a dozen groups of 8 girls singing the round, it sounds good live but doesn't translate well here.
Well... it sounds like the same track being repeated twice or something.
