The style, the method, the pace, the execution, my goodness, so enjoyable to watch. How unwatchable the NBA has become in 2024.

2 out of 3 of those losses were to landry. 2 out of 3 were by 1 point. 2 fg away from being 30-1

This redskins team capped a 12-1 year including post season wins over grant landry n shula. Next year in 83 they went 16-2 prior to the SB. That's 28-3. With PO wins over hof coaches grant landry shula n walsh. Like a unstoppable machine seen very seldom over the years. That's why after that I call theyre 38-9 loss to the raiders in SB 18 the biggest upset in SB history

Interesting interview between Cousy and Daly. There are so many elements involved in team dynamics and performance that a fan/viewer might not fully be aware could be affecting the teams on the floor. OR even think could _potentially_ be a factor. The total performance for the fans has a lot of moving parts, right down to the commentary. Good commentary, or bad, can make a huge difference in creating not only enthusiasm but even buy-in. Being able to give people the _why_ they should, as viewers, be interested or appreciate that play or player or team is a real talent.

Everyone knows the economic realities that made building VCA necessary, but St John Arena was a way more awesome playing venue. I'm sure I was at this game. College hoops were so much better in the 1980s. We actually got to know the players before they left town.

God, I miss the way college hoops used to be. We got to know the players. I could, back then, rattle off the lineups of most of the Big East, ACC, and Big Ten teams. Now, the top players come and go before you learn their names.

The Celtics bullied the Sixers in this one as they had almost as much offensive rebounds as Philly's offensive and defensive rebounds combined. The Sixers took out their frustrations in their next game, blowing out the Pistons with Doctor J collecting 44 points, 8 blocks, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists in 41 mins of play.

I'm a huge celtics fan - so I'm always gonna lean towards the 86 Celtics as being the greatest team of all time. And the argument is always like the 87 Lakers or the 96 Bulls or one of the Warriors teams with Curry or even one of LeBron s teams. But for some reason the 83 Sixers do not get mentioned much ? I think they won like 68 games and went like 15-2 in the playoffs. They dominated from start to finish capping it off with a sweep of the Lakers. Very impressive !!

DePaul couldn't stay in front end at all once they switched to man to man UCLA also had really good leapers to contest every shot definitely at the forward spot

UCLA played way better than your average 8 seed, the had could run play good defense and didn't turn the ball over a ton, but the real MVP was James Wilkes And Rod Foster anytime DePaul switched to man to man those guys blew right pass them

I don't know if it's the footage and camera angles or the game itself (or both) but basketball before 1985 or so (maybe even 1990) seems both faster but the athletes also seem to move more stiffly and less fluidly. It's odd and yet very distinctive.

These teams both would have been 5 or 6 seeds if the NCAA tournament had had 64 teams in the field at the time instead of 32. I have a feeling these 2 upper-classman laden teams would compare favorably to todays thrown together college teams (transfer portal) full of Freshman one and dones. HOF McHale who at 22 years of age was so polished, you just don’t see that in college anymore sadly.
