Cheap and easy mouse guards for the winter months. :)

Simple crockpot method of rendering honeybee wax from old comb/cappings. This can be used to make candles, coat plastic foundation, etc. I do not take credit for this method, I just use it and believe it is the easiest way to do it (atleast for me). Good luck!! Had three swarm traps to move from traps to permanent hives. One ended up being a laying worker (2-3 eggs per cell) and the other was being robbed (left open too long). Laying worker hive will probably be moved to different location to let nature run its course. Robbed hive seems to be doing fine. Thanks for watching! #beekeeping #honeybees #swarmtrapping

Had a large swarm today come out and land in the same vicinity as previous ones. Problem was, it appeared the way they were separated into two bunches, that I had 2 swarms on my hands. Long story short, I place two baited boxes on the ground near both bunches and eventually, they all chose door #1. Had one of my hives swarm today and landed about 20 feet away on a branch about 4 feet up. Perfect scenario. This is how I transfer a swarm to a permanent hive. Never had one leave after doing it this way. Good luck! #beekeeping #swarms #honeybees

Left my building door open this afternoon while I was gone to the dentist. Came home to a swarm moving closer and closer to it, until they were in the building filling up a 5-frame nuc that was left on my messy work table. Once again, an incredible experience. While harvesting honey the other day, accidentally busted open some capped larvae and look who we found (other than the larva). Kind of creepy watching it crawl around on it.

Went to do inspections today before we get ready to rob in a few more days. Pull into the bee yard and low and behold, a swarm from one of my own. Not what I had planned for today, but can't complain. I've always heard, "a swarm in May is worth a bale of hay; a swarm in June is worth a silver spoon; but a swarm in July, let it fly."
