The expansion of the existing power plant Sellrain-Silz in Austria includes, in essence, the construction of a new storage lake, with a capacity of 31 million cubic meters of water, a rockfill dam and the construction of a new access tunnel, that connects the future water reservoir Kuehtai with a new underground - pumped storage plant, and the existing water reservoir Finstertal.
The huge masses of dirt and rocks from the excavation of the new storage lake, are processed to the required shape and size, and used for the construction of a new rockfill dam with a fill volume of about 7 million cubic meters of dirt and rocks. The dam will measure an impressive 113 meters in hight, with a dam crest of 500 meters in length.
