Kenny Everett radio show about 1980
Audio Taken from a reel to reel tape left on a second-hand tape machine purchased about 15 years ago. Recorded to DCC tape (remember those) and saved to hard drive originally as a wave file. From the dialogue it seems to be from a BB Radio 2 show broadcast in about 1980.

I heard the intro to Yes's "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" at some point and that wasn't released until 1983.
I had the tape of this too! The record that was going to play after the first Captain Kremmen episode was 'Owner of a lonely heart' by Yes.

I discovered him a year ago i tell people about him so spread the word this guy was pure entertainment
Definitely Radio 2 (he says so), so it must have been between October 1981 and some time in 1983, when he was sacked again.Since he also talks about CDs, that puts it from late 82 onwards.
cds (particularly in studio format) were around since 78/79 and mid 81 domestic machines came, so while i completely agree with most of what you have said i wouldnt agree on the late 82 onwards synopsis, it might well be late 82 onwards but that is a coincidence if it is and not down to the mention of compact disc :)
@@gimble8638 it has to be from 1983, because 'Owner of a lonely heart' by Yes was going to be played, which was cut off after the first couple of seconds. The CDs he was talking about were also on sale from late 82. There was no such thing as a studio version of standard compact disc. You are thinking of laserdisc, which were not used in the recording industry.
@@RB747domme sorry but there was compact discs then and when i say studio discs i mean discs (as in radio station studio) sent to radio stations, in studio (recording studio) repros direct from reel tot reel to compact cassette or the very start of CD without going through a repro house were not common place but often happened in more hurried pre release dates, i have not mentioned the recording industry as such as radio stations are not part of the recording industry. I'll also repeat that i said it may well be that date but that the mention of cds were not neccesarily the reason to come to that conclusion and the mere fact that YES lead you to the confirmation of that date reinforces pretty much what i said :) May i take this opportunity to wish you a very merry christmas and a very prosporous and more "normal" 2021 as i like to do with everyone i communicate with at this time of year :)

Pretty sure the Captain Kremmen inserts started on Capital Radio in the 1970s. The first episode sounds like a repeat from those days.
Great clip, but you really should use a more descriptive title. If I didn't know what Partridge looked like, I wouldn't have clicked.

The recording must be from 1983 onwards. Note the quick snatch of 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' by Yes, which was the opening track on the 90125 album. Again, from 1983.

Thanks for posting! But please expand your title to say it's XTC, Andy Partridge, OGWT, etc and I guarantee your views will triple. I only found this by stumbling, and almost didn't click because the title was so vague. XTC=Best British Band!

I remember the radio "short movies" they where epic and not on long enough
Fantastic. I only ever knew Kenny as a visual comedian growing up as a Gen X Aussie. His visual humour matched the ABC's endless replays of the Goodies at the time. I've since read and watched a few Kenny Bios & docos and of course have a token DVD compilation on disc but to hear him in his original medium is awesome. Sounds like there's some audio tracking taken from the TV show taping mixed in at various points which matches the ca. 1980 dating of this tape.
