Thank you; it is a fine drive, which i did in reverse about ten years ago on the way homewards from Methana. Could have just headed for the motorway, but was pleased that I chose to take the scenic route.

I liked Pylos, and the island, Sphacteria, was the scene of a turning point in ancient Greece. An Atheninan force attacked Spartans on the island, defeated them and forced them to surrender. It was the first time a Spartan army surrendered, and for the first time Athens discovered that they were not invincible on land. It was pivotal.

Hara Hotel just up the road from where you stopped was one of my regular first/last night stops, fabulous views and easy range of the airport, and I have driven this wonderfully scenic road a number of times; it never ceased to give me pleasure with its views. As in most of Greece, you are either in the mountains or in sight of them.

Great; thank you. I have done the road several times in the opposite direction in small rental cars, praying all the way that they would not break down as they battled the gradients, often in first or second gear, especially on the hair-pin bends. It is a wonderful drive, but it does help if your car has the power to climb hills and decent suspension!

i loved my holidays 2 or 3 times a year driving on your empty roads. I have often driven even on motorways, admittedly out of season, with not a vehicle in sight in either direction

A great drive with wonderful views. I drove it as an alternative route from Diros to Sparta and was so glad that I chose it
