Nice video. One thing that you missed though is that although Czechs were literally obliterating Greece in the 90 minutes, in the extra time, they didn't make a single chance. On the contrary Greece took over and played full offence making 3 chances (and 1 with Stelios Giannakopoulos was a crazy one).

I don't understand why people think Portugal could win it. If anyone else deserved to win, that was Czech Republic. Portugal was lucky to be at the finals just like Greece with Czech Republic. They should thank us for winning them 1-0 because if Czech Republic was there instead of us, they would lose at least 5-0.

Irony here is that when Portugal finally won Euro Cup final Ronaldo was not even playing. In 2024 tournament Ronaldo was burden of Portugal and flopped pretty badly.

as a greek, i wasent born in 2004 but, my father was at portugal when the final was held and he cried in joy when greece scored in the 58th minute, and yeah thats about my story of the 2004 euro

When someone plays a game by its rules and manages as an underdog to win the title against all odds and favourites, a healthy-mindset person can only applaud. Whining is for weaklings. Any luck in the process is just part of the game, so you just have to deal with it. 3. Would the author of an article whining about "tears rolling down the face of a beautiful game" care to explain what happened to this beautiful game in 2024's EURO? Because everyone around is saying that this is the worst EURO ever. 4. Who says that in sports only the favorites should win? If this was the case, then why should the underdogs participate in the first place? Why even bother? Conclusion: An underdog wins by the rules? You just congratulate. What a great and well-researched video. Well done showing both sides of the story. 2004 is memorable in our collective minds in Greece but the fact that "our own" Fernando Santos managed to make things right for his country's team in 2016 felt like a fairy-tale ending for our Portuguese friends.

Makes sense for the world to not want Greece to win, thats because their gameplay was mostly defense and sport newspaper don't like this. They want attacking teams and see alot of goals. But Greece win was far from unfair, Greece had indeed the best defense of all other teams and the corner tactics was insane. In the semifinals Nedved injury and all their missing oportunities was indeed lucky, but thats foodball alright. In the finals Greece played better than Portuguese, the result was fair and anyone that saw the game can tell. For a defensive team to win with no penalties shots is crazy. Congratulations to greece you deserved it! 🎉🎉

There is also another forgotten match between these two teams. Around a month prior to Euro 2004 a friendly match took held. As far I remember in this match Portuguese federation awarded Couto. Anyway again Greece had played well and even with 10 players had scored first but Portugal managed to equalise for a 1-1 match draw.

Thank you for the nice video. I have to admit, we had a way to mess with our opponent's play. Also that it takes a lot of coordination, stamina, strength and talent to play defensive football. I think that many teams were frustrated as they could not reach peak performance with Greece and when they were trying to relax a bit, it was when Greece struck. We were unpredictable in that.
