Hello, I'm Ricardo Escobar, owner of "Cardo's Car Dose" located in SoCal! Around late June in 2020 I wanted to start a business in something that I can serve with a passion. How I Maintain a Ceramic Coating [ 9 Month Update ] #detailing #cardetailing #autodetailing
This is how I would perform a ceramic coating maintenance detail. To maintain a ceramic coating, while not difficult, there are some things to look out for in the long term. Every couple of months to a year a ceramic coating maintenance detail must be performed to maintain the integrity of the coating. Like a clogged surface, failure, or other impurities being stuck on. In this video I show how I would perform a ceramic coating maintenance detail from start to finish, full transparency.

Just dilute your regular snow foam with bud instead of water.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is more effective 😂
Great example 👍
Hello Cardo, Roel here from the Philippines Is it advisable to use apc every week for prewash on this rainy season ? heavy dirt n grime, tar asphalt etc etc baked over a week Thanks mate in advanced
Hello champ! 😎I would not recommend you do that to your vehicle frequently as the chemical may do long term damage to the surface with repetitive use. Reserve it for times when you are intentionally trying to strip the surface of its grime and protection. Assuming you are consistently applying durable protection on the vehicle, it should be cleansed easily with traditional soap. May I recommend prewashing the vehicle in an alkaline soap. It is effective while not being as aggressive as APC. Hopefully this helps champ! 👍
My generac 4500 is 100lbs with full tank. Only thing I dislike s the loud sound. But, if it runs out of juice I can be up and running in 2 mins by filling up the tank again. With these batteries you have to wait long periods of time to reuse when they die.
As an owner of a battery, I can 100% agree with this argument. If noise is not the issue then gas is the best and is sustainable. Even when detailing as a business I found charging the thing to be a hassle if I only rely on solar, and charging with the customers power is not always available.
Hello, I really like your videos. Do you have some advice on how to get baked on fly/insect poop off a car's surface? The only stuff I found that did work somewhat was a window cleaner with added ammonia and rubbing with a micro fiber towel. Hood, roof and trunk lid took me 7 hours. 7 (in words: seven) hours. It's worst when the poop gets some rain/water, which dissolves it a bit and then gets baked on by the sun and the heat of summer. Looks like water spots except they are - of course - brown. Looks **** on my white car. I'm dusting the car off (dusting the poop off) every dry day since. Gel hand sanitizer maybe? You demonstrated once, how well that removes crystalized tree sap.
Hey champ! 👋 This sounds like a really tough job and I cannot imagine the frustration you went through trying to remove all of the impurities 😬 Hand sanitizer is a DIY solution in case you want to try a product from home. You could try that out, but if you need something stronger, I would suggest a dedicated tar remover. 👍 Feel free to reach out on IG if you need more help ✅
@@CardosCarDose Hi, thanks for your reply, I'll give it a try. Thank you. Yeah lots of frustration. A local got so fed up in her frustration, she took the rough side of a kitchen sponge and scrubbed the stains off her new car 🤷♂
Reading that made my brain go ouch 🧠 💢
Hello, nice video..can you tell me if this APC has a smell, if it has a smell, what is it like and does it stay in the car for a long time? Thanks
It does not and will not linger 😌
Thank that was pretty informative.
A question for anyone that can help. I bought the P&S all purpose cleaner is a green colour one. Very cheap. There is no review on youtube or even much information on the website on the ph of the product or dilution ratio. The only dilution ratio it mention is 1 : 15 and on the jug it says for vinyl, rubber, carpet doesn’t say anything about paint. I tried using 1 :15 ratio on the paint in a foam canon. Not a lot of foam. Left it on for 3 minutes did dissolve some bug guts but not a lot, a little higher ratio worked much better but I don’t wanna be too harsh on the paint. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions.
As someone who had went through 4 gallons of that product, I can give some insight 👍 If it is locally available to you, I think it is solid for what it is. APC is just APC and we should treat it as such 😌 However, I believe a slightly better option would be P&S Enviro Clean. It is an APC that just smells better and has a similar user experience. I actually made a video showcasing that product on my recent ceramic coating maintenance. Check it out!
Good work.
Note to myself 14:07 tree sap
What is that foam cannon you're using?!
It is a cheap knock off from amazon that unfortunately is not available anymore 😭
Woahhh interior?!
Yup! Super effective in the interior for a clean feel 😌
No Tornador and compressor... Interesting, I like it. Saves a lot of money and I wonder how well an EF Delta Pro would power a the right compressor.
I actually have one now and it works well with my Kobalt 26G. 👍 Tho it can only operate when nothing else is also powered on 🤔
@@CardosCarDose I've noticed most guys run smaller compressors, I was going by the spec for the Tornador which led me to the California Air Tools 10020C but that thing has serious power demands. It's nice to find out that isn't needed. Thanks for your reply, videos and insight!
Are you just adding D.I water in the cannon only and tap coming into the power washer?
Since this is a really old video, I'll give you an updated response 😂 You can have the purest water in the foamer, but if there is tapwater in the general system, then the benefits for DI water is pretty much ineffective. Sure it can help with foaming, but water spots and other impurities wont be removed. Hopefully this helps 👌
@@CardosCarDose that's what I thought. Thanks for the time
Great tutorial thank you!
If you have access to the building water source as well, can you use a 'T' connector so the tank is the back up in case of lags during use ? I want to purchase a 9.2 GPM unit but building supply is no where near that so the tank would take up the slack if there is a lull and hopefully prolong the use of the pump as well as give a consistent flow rate. I want to use my system for sewer jetting as well as concrete power washing. P.S. GREAT close-up detailed tutorial by the way. One of the best ones on TH-cam I've seen.
I am not too sure about using that T connector for machines at that high GPM rating 🤔 I would suggest reaching out to other folk who specialize in those fields for additional information. For detailing just a single tube is more than enough as typical pressure washers for detailers never exceeded three GPM 😌 Thank you for the feedback! 🙌
do you know a good detailer in florida?...I have the perfect car for them
No unfortunately 🤔
@@CardosCarDose ha..ok thx..good videos btw.. do you have an email i can send y ou some pics.. I just got a used car and there is like a dark brown ring of dirt or something circling the entire vehicle below the bottom of the doors...ive never seen anything like it
Feel free to DM the info on IG 👍
Thank you for your experiences. Is it possible use such a high ph as a prewash for ceramic coated car? Thank you
I cannot speak for all ceramic coatings, but usually the manufacturer will state what the pH resistance level is, so do some thorough research before attempting. Overall, most coatings should be perfectly fine as APC is not as aggressive as, for example, a degreaser. I have done it on my customers car for about one whole year and it seems to be working just fine. of course, use your best judgment on when it is appropriate to use APC on a vehicle, especially if it is severely contaminated .
Super informative! i'm about to make a detail video of a motorcycle i just rebuilt and I have heard all kinds of bad stuff about Superclean but you have won me over! awesome video SUBBED!
Super informative! i'm about to make a detail video of a motorcycle i just rebuilt and I have heard all kinds of bad stuff about Superclean but you have won me over! awesome video SUBBED!
No problem champ 👍 Thank you for the kind words and I am glad the information was helpful to you 🥇
Nice video quick question what product you using for clay bar
I actually do not recommend this one, I used Chemical Guys Clay Block for the video. Instead, use a mid level clay that is easy to work in yet effective enough to remove the deposits. You can use whichever clay from any brand, but if you need a recommendation Ill leave a link to the one I currently use: bit.ly/42bQgXE Hopefully this helps champ! 👍
@@CardosCarDose nice thnx for the info what clay lube you used. The only thing is that all those companies you have to buy 150 or more for free shipping tho. I really appreciate your video
You dont have to get it from the site, or even the same brand, it is a reference so you can shop at your local supplier if possible 😌 I personally do not use clay lube, instead, IPA as my slip solution. It preps and decons at the same time for a more effective clean 🧼 I use P&S Panel Prep. Not for anything in particular, it just makes financial sense as it is a glass cleaner and paint prep combo 👍
i actually have a video demonstrating this if you want to check it out th-cam.com/video/bfCCx85gTAM/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Thanks for your honest review. All the other videos reviewing DIY products have been clear (or not clear) paid partners and only say good things. It is more valuable to me to hear an opinion like yours with your true impressions. Good job. Keep it up.
Glad the information was helpful for you as I always try my best to be as transparent as possible. 😊
Hello Cardo, good evening. please won't the APC destroy the Foam Cannon?
Nope 👎 Mine is still fine after all these years. Just rinse the product out if planning to store for some time
Such a versatile product I like to use it as a clay lube which works amazing with the P&S reset sponge
While it is a good slip solution, for major decontamination I would suggest not using it as you would chemically seal the impurities on the surface. For just a light clay, you can use bead maker and it will be perfectly fine . 👍
Great 👍🏿 video
Great video, question what power source did you use for your pressure washer pump?
The pump I have only draws about 200 W of power. You can easily hook this up to a gas, battery, or an outlet. 👍 Used it with my Delta Pro 🔋
What about listing name of products you are using ? Much appreciated
I have not updated the older videos only because it will take forever 😂 luckily everything is located on my website! Here is the link : www.cardoscardose.com/products-used
Keeping it simple I have a 2011 car that needs decontamination I am going to follow your advise Have you used any of the superior line of products ?
I have not used any superior products, but honestly, most chemicals will do just fine 👍 pick whichever is readily available to you 🙌
Is there a certain hose distance you recommend from the tank to the pressure washer? Looks like you have about half a foot
Nope! As long as it has a proper connection and the water can flow freely to the machine, it will be perfectly fine 👍 I once had my tank on the van but my machine was on the sidewalk. I used a 25ft garden hose, connected it to the machine, and worked! The principal remains the same as long as the machine is at a lower or equal height as the tank.
Thanks so much!
What do you think of using dawn dish soap instead of an APC?
You "could", but I do not use it because it leaves a thick residue behind that needs a lot of rinsing to remove 🫤
@@CardosCarDose fair enough. Seems like it foams like no other, jury is out if that’s good or bad but it looks the part. I’m gonna do a full correction on my really good condition 94 s10 and am researching what to use to gently decon before the clay mit and polisher come out
@EveryDayJay415 There is no need to be gentle as decontamination is not "gentle" 😆 Any alkaline soap will do. Keep the process simple 👍
You have a gift man, you have a clear concise way of explaining. Love it !!
Appreciate the feedback champ 😎👍 Always here to improve and to help others in the process! 🙏
Almost a year later. Still feeling the same about Beadmaker? Found anything that competes with it?
Currently starting to use Shine Supply Punch It 😎First impressions are great and lasts a bit longer.
@@CardosCarDose awesome.. thank you
What kind of barb fitting did you use to connect the tubbing?
They are one inch from Lowes. the larger the diameter the greater the flow of water. 👍
@@CardosCarDosecan you provide the link to the barb fitting?
I have 3300 dewalt that I'm trying to gravity feed with a 55 gal drum won't work
There are some trouble shooting methods to try out if your having problems 🤔 1. Place machine lower than the tank outlet port. 2. Avoid using wide low profile tanks as there is not enough water weight for gravity feeding 3. if nothing works, you may need an external pump Hopefully this helps somehow 🙏
did you ever make the video with how the ecoflow worked out in a real detailers life?
That video is coming 😌 Still need to word it out properly so it does not sound like a rant or sell out commentary 😆
would you recommend using the delta pro for mobile detailing still?
That would be a no 👎 I made an impression video, but it was never a review video. My only complaint is that EcoFlow, at the moment, does not offer battery cell replacement after heavy usage. Basically turning your $3k investment into Ewaste once its lifespan runs short. If I had to start again, I would go with something like an Anker Battery, they are a more reputable company than EcoFlow, a chinese start up.
@@CardosCarDose oh wow ok so it died early, good to know. How long did it last for you?
@@michaelp8038 its not dead, but I can see the lifespan did shorten a bit. I have about one year of medium usage.
I'm using it a pre wash (when needed) in pump sprayer at a 1:5 ratio and it works well, I can by 20L of it for £30 here in the UK so It works out quite economical. I'm using the Turtle Wax Pure Wash soap for contact wash.
Would a karcher k4 work with a gravity fed system w a tank
I have never owned own so I have no saying if it would work or not. Wont hurt to try with simple plumping if you have a tank available. Or you can ask a detailer that happens to have that same model as yours. 🤔
Great job brother, I gained a lot from watching this video
Glad the information washelpful for you 🙌 Appreciate the feedback champ! 🥇
What did you use to clean or prep the plastic and can you use it on the rubber trim around windows
I just used traditional degreaser, straight. Will certainly knock off any films or protectants. You may use whichever that is readily available to you. 👍 For the rubber on the windows, you may apply it, but rinse almost immediately for a safe work area 🙌
Great work 👏
Do i wax my car before i spray this? What wax products would you recommend are spray wax good or am i better off using the paste version wax
This can be used as a standalone, no need to apply additional wax as a base layer. 👍 Paste wax is mostly for consumers who want to have a therapeutic session. Liquid spray waxes perform almost identically as paste waxes, but do not require so many steps like a paste wax would.
th-cam.com/video/UP0et8lql0U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pWK4VYrbTQ-Mm5sJ interesting idea, though some channel has been testing apc on foam cannon 7 years ago.
I think the biggest advantage of sprayer is you get exactly dilution ratio you put in, while with foam cannon the apc sprayed on car is actually more diluted (to get the proximate ratio we need to measure how much water and apc solution pumped out in a minute and of course this will vary between pressure washer, foam cannon, and that knob setting on top)
100% True champ 👍 It is correct that the foam canon does dilute the chemical significantly. With my pressure washer (1322TS), if I pour APC straight, the output is somewhere around 1 : 50. This is a low dilution, however, still has plenty enough kick to cleanse the surface. My most recent video of a ceramic coating maintenance service demonstrates it in case you want to check it out. 😎 👍 th-cam.com/video/QvgTeoAvBrw/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
@CardosCarDose I did. Informative video there. Btw, is there any good reason to choose CarPro Reset (well known for its cleaning ability, while remain safe on paint) over APC (diluted properly) for maintain coated car?
Reset is just a soap, and soap is just soap, no matter how alkaline it is. APC on the other hand, is a highly reactive chemical that can certainly clean much more than the most alkaline soap. I do not recommend you use APC as a maintenance cleaner. I used it in that video because the contamination was out of hand and I had to chemically shock the coating to dislodge any impurities. This also helps if you see sheeting behavior instead of beading. 👍 Hopefully, this makes sense 🙏
Is nice for quick details or exterior details or basic interior details but dirty cars full detail no way that shit gonna last while I’m running compressor , two stage vaccine I would neeed two of this which will cost 6-7k
You can certainly pull off two full exterior and interior details with one battery if you are efficient. ☝️ not that it can't handle it, but if you are going to use particular equipment, such as heated equipment or +1800W machines, then you will certainly need another one. Just depends what you plug in and how long you use it.
Would this be ok for a 8070 mytee heated extractor?
For reliability reasons I can not answer that with full certainty. From my experience, using a single Delta Pro as the main machine I have tripped it at around 2900 W trying to run a compressor and vacuum at the same time. I would suggest reaching out to other detailers that have actually ran the machine with the battery. Sorry I could not help you champ 🙏
I have the same kranzel people keep telling me me I need a pump 😅 but I see plenty of people doing gravity feed no issues
Kranzle can handle it, those people are a little 🧠 😵💫
I would love to see your method versus Wilson auto detailings method with Superior Products Road Warrior. A concentrated industrial soap/degreaser that's like $15 a gallon. Also I believe the Medicare green APC is a higher foaming product.
Debatable, but as long as the method works and makes sense to you that is all that matters 😌 As for APC there are just so many out there I just stuck with the local ones 😂 Most of them will perform identically so pick one that you can work with
I'm missing your videos mate, cheers from Australia
