Are there any countries where Gaumont hasn't blocked that Godard & Woody Allen "interview"?
These comments are so old

@zachandroy Sorry to hear that, what about a poni?
MDR
In the movie, they are in a three-person relationship and the other girl dies, so he's sad. That had been his girlfriend for years.
2008 *sigh* i am calm
My favorite scene in the movie
I think it helps to look at (and watch) Godard's films while keeping in mind that he's a *film critic* making films about films and film-making. And his mind is restlessly free-associative. When you listen to him talk, you realize this. He's always associating what he's saying with what was just said -- not necessarily tying together a string of thoughts into a linear narrative. It's the same with his films.
Anyone who knows all, or any, of the songs played while the black-screened-titles? Please let me know to mauricio (at) mastropiero (dot) info would love to know and exchange oldschool jazz music with anyone
A wonderful mix!
Pure Godard
That American actor he was looking for in 1986 was DUSTIN HOFFMAN !
2nd part is blocked :( Any idea where to watch the rest?
@marcinwri i dont agree with that logic. if i cant summarize a movie it might mean i'm dumb, but it could also mean theres almost nothing to summarize, and that the film is flawed, and only really a "masterpiece" from a reductionistic point of view. godard is just a guy who was good at promoting himself, hes the kind of guy i call "the showman without the show". hes not on the same level as dreyer, mizoguchi, bergman. herzog hates him, so why should i care that you love him for some reason?
The music at the beginning is George Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue', which Allen used in his film Manhattan, I believe.
which song is that at the begginig of the video?
Why are 2&3 not available on mobile?
Woody is so damn intimidated by JLG
i actually don't like julie...
Sheesh - More Godard than Allen. Like he the film for is about his artistic interests in portraying Allen than an interview with Allen.
about what they are singing???
@TonySarandrea215 (following) Just listen and watch carefuly how the music is from the american culture (Gershwin, jazz loved by Allen and present in his movies, orchestral emphasis, dramatization), and the illustrations are telling something that is in relation with the talk (by exemple the tortured face of Ingrid Bergman just after having spoke of suffering in making movies, etc...) It's poignant, true and full of compassion. A declaration of love from a movie maker to another.
@TonySarandrea215 I understand your desire of hearing them talk but it's not the point here. Godard reinvents the interview so that we can understand what he learned, humanely speaking, of his interview with Allen. The editing is the key to this understanding and is not free or random at all.
@El135o Hypocrite.
Wish some one would upload Godard.s movies
How the hell can someone DISLIKE this?!?!?
This is just...perfect
2:04 is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo epic
@goodep2 because thats a rule thats not godard's to break. in an interview the stuff he does is just plain distracting. the key thing to being a good interviewer is to not attract attention to yourself and always focus on the interviewe
@inrwizards Why must an interview consist of only a single shot of its subject?
@goodep2 shot of woody allen...and thats it no stupid cuts or anything hes not doing breathless an interview is an interview
pause at 0:36. he looks like that thing in the cantina from star wars.
something must be wrong with you if he puts your shirt back on at 1:48
@inrwizards What do you mean by "straightforward"?
goddard doesnt seem to understand that interviews are like documentaries. they should be done in a straightforward manner, and thats a fact. if he must do things his own way then he should stay away from interviews. i understand it can be frustrating because one project at my film school involved that and i did not like it
tv takes out the artestry and presents everything in an unimaginative way for the most part. there are exceptions, like the sopranos, but they only come along once in a lifetime.
fantastic interview, thanks for posting. godard's silly cutaways are the only way to see allen talk about his work.
It's funny. Woody seems extremely embarassed by Godard. He can't really look at him in the eye!
0:22 - Woody wearing panties?
hey, does anybody know where can i get this film with english subtitles??? pls, if u do, let me know.
hey, does anybody know where can i get this film with english subtitles??? pls, if u do, let me know.
All I want to say is, 'what the f^ck is with all the cutaways???' Whoever edited this should be slapped distracting the whole interview with random bits of classical music. A pointless move, really bugging me. I want to hear them, geez
Très amusant êtres instructif Très Godardien Master Man.
Fantastique !!!
can someone tell me the name of the music in the beginning?
