    Good golfers always think that high handicappers just don't concentrate or that they just don't understand course management. Most of us know not to try for 215 yard pin just past a bunker. SMH

      @@kennethcoffey-zp6li yeah but a lot of people not breaking 100 a losing shots likely based off of those two things. Getting in my head about the next shot, the last shot that I just hit, or they are pulling up the wrong club or doing the wrong swing for that club. I used to be a high handicapper last year. And I still play with mostly high handicappers and those are the frequent issues that I see most of the time. If someone's not making those mistakes then they're probably not going to be a high handicapper for long

      @@whatthe3504 yes but only if you're going for a par on that hole. Which 95% of golfers probably don't need to go for a par on a 420 plus yard par four. Plus even playing it with a short club you can still get on for a par chance. But if you are having par-4 is over 420 then you likely have more persistent reliable longer clubs.

    Wrong! Shorter clubs are easy to hit solid and straight. The shorter shafts and higher loft are very forgiving. Longer clubs are not so forgiving no matter how short your swing. Also if your swing is very short you may hit your driver the same as a 7-iron.

    • @GolfPsychologist
      @GolfPsychologist 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It's mainly the higher spin being more forgiving. The longer clubs can be forgiving but they won't be as long as people want them to be. However if I don't need that far and I need more accuracy then they don't need to be very long. So if my driver's only going 200 yards max but it's going dead straight every time because I'm swinging slow. That player is going to score better than the person that is swinging hard and fast hoping again distance but loses the golf ball multiple times per round

      Figure out what is causing the blow up holes. OB off the tee? Flubbed shots? Topped/Chunked? If it is just bad contact causing the 100 yard shots or less, really drilling in low point control is a good step. Work on half swings and chipping motions with irons for better contact. I made a video on some drills that I've done and like for better contact. Look on the channel for the Range video. or w.e its called.

    Alrighty man, that's it!!!! I watched this video last night knowing I was going to play 18 today. This will give some people a laugh, but because I've been playing for a few months (10-12 rounds total) and I'm all self taught, applying the ideas from this video today dropped my score about 35 shots below my previous best LOL! I shot 110 today which I am very proud of considering last time I played stroke play I was in the 70s for 9 holes hahaha. After my first 2 tee shots weren't consistent with my driver, I teed off with a 5i or 4i all day and stayed in safe spots a majority of the day. Plus all the iron swings kept making them more consistent!! That being said, I lost less than a handful of balls today compared to the usual 15-25 (excuse time: that's totally because all of the water hazards on these Florida courses for sure) Came back to shout you out for the way you explained how important reliability is and what to focus on. Definitely subscribing because the way you describe everything helps this newbie process what you're saying perfectly. Keep doing what you're doing man, I'm sure there's tons of other people that you've brought confidence to and given them their golf swagger! Best day I've ever had on the links by a mile but more importantly it was the most enjoyable day of golf by far! Staying in play and keeping up with my foursome made me feel like I wasn't an inconvenience for the first time ever today <3 God bless my friend

  • @AnangryLibertarian

    The only way to get better is to practice. Get a coach and study the swing. It took me 3 years of consistent practice to finally shoot par. When I say consistent practice I mean I hit a balls with a purpose almost every single day, and I tried to play at least once a week. With a purpose means sticking to what you’re working on and trusting the process. Beating balls is completely useless. It actually makes it harder to change. The best thing I ever learned was from the golfing machine. There are different types of practice. One of them is working on a swing move without concern for where the ball goes. It will take you at least a month of daily work to see a change and sometimes more for what you’re working on to transfer over to your game. My advice after 10 years of playing and hovering around a 5 handicap with my lowest being 3. Learn how to hit the ball relatively decent before you pressure yourself into trying to lower your score. If you can’t be somewhat predictable as far as missing goes you can’t play the hole properly. The speed you will improve is directly reliant upon how disciplined you are. Golf is streaky. Just like on the pga tour you will have runs where you feel like you can’t miss, and runs where you are ready to quit. Stick with one thing at a time and ignore the rest. Golf is a journey not a destination. This is the advice I would give myself if I could travel back in time to the day I decided to pick up golf. Good luck!
