Today I'm pulling the Camshafts out of the engine that still mounted to our 1997 Yamaha Virago 1100. We're tearing down the original motor that came in the Virago 1100. This motor came seized in the bike. It was later replaced by a donor motor... which I seized at high RPM in April, 2020. About those sleeves on the front cylinder studs, I don’t know what they are but my engine has them too. Only on the front just like yours. And I’ve seen a couple other xv1100 engine tear-down videos and they are all the same way. So all I can say it that it wasn’t a mistake.

My assumption would be that the case would probably need to be split apart to access the bottom of the connecting rods. There may be another way to get to them, but I didn't get that deep into the 1100.

C'mon bro, don't give up, you got this. The bike has a second wind. At least the piston rod didn't puncture the cylinder. She's on life support you can bring her back. Clean out the metal shavings in motor, buy eBay exhaust valve, good used piston head and new piston rings, new cam chains and do ur valve clearances 0.10mm intake, 0.15mm exhaust valve, buy new valve shems one time, new spark plug, then she's alive n ready again.
