HMS Borealis
1940 wreck of a British barrage balloon vessel bombed by German aircraft off the Isle of Wight. Three other vessels travelling in the same convoy were also sunk in the attack. These were the AJAX, the COQUETDALE and the EMPIRE CRUSADER.
HMS BOREALIS (Ex-Pilote 15) was travelling in convoy CW9, also known as Peewit, on 8-AUG-1940, when she was bombed and sunk by aircraft.

    My Grandma’s cousin was on Luxor. The records say that the crew survived, but he had been invalided out of the Royal Navy with tuberculosis before joining the merchant navy and Luxor. Unfortunately the sinking exacerbated his tuberculosis and he died. I believe his name appears on a war memorial and possibly in the Masonic hall but I cannot confirm ether.

    The glorious summer of 1976 as a young boy camping at Wasdale Head, i donned my fins and mask and ventured as deep as i could on a lung full of air. Not getting too far and absolutely bricking it for not knowing what lay below me in the darkness. Finally..... almost a half century later.... i find out. Nothing 😂 Interesting vid. Nice dive. It was interesting to watch your descent, plus the view of Great Gable and Scafel Pike just before hand. Its funny how some scenes are just imprinted in your memory. I'd love to revisit one day.
