Psalm 58
Do you indeed speak righteousness, you silent ones?
Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men?
2 No, in heart you work wickedness;
You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.
3 The wicked are estranged from the womb;
They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent;
They are like the deaf cobra that stops its ear,
5 Which will not heed the voice of charmers,
Charming ever so skillfully.
6 Break[b] their teeth in their mouth, O God!
Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!
7 Let them flow away as waters which run continually;
When he bends his bow,
Let his arrows be as if cut in pieces.
8 Let them be like a snail which melts away as it goes,
Like a stillborn child of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the burning thorns,
He shall take them away as with a whirlwind,
As in His living and burning wrath.
10 The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance;
He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked,
11 So that men will say,
“Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
Surely He is God who judges in the earth.”
Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men?
2 No, in heart you work wickedness;
You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by. 2 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me. 3 He shall send from heaven and save me; He reproaches the one who [b]would swallow me up. Give ear to my prayer, O God, And do not hide Yourself from my supplication. 2 Attend to me, and hear me; I am[c] restless in my complaint, and moan noisily, 3 Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me, And in wrath they hate me. 4 My heart is severely pained within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me. 5 Fearfuln...

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good. 2 God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. 3 Every one of them has turned aside; They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one. 4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowle...

I said this prayer daily for years, and the word Catholic was most definitely not in there. Apart from that it's an accurate translation. Thank you.
The word “catholic” comes from the Greek “καθολικήν/katholikin” which means “universal” as our church is the one universal church meant for all of humanity and the world. This word is found in the original Greek text of the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed of 381. The word “catholic” in this context does not necessarily pertain to the Roman Catholic Church, but was and is still used in the context that our holy church is always universal, in other words, CATHOLIC. This creed was used for hundreds of years and was made before there was any division between Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, etc. Catholic means universal and this is a much accurate translation. God bless!

Thank you so much!! Your vpice helps calm my heart. It would be wonderful for us who need to rest/sleep, if you could do a long reading of peaceful Psalms: God's glory, praises, His protection/love/kindness upon us... I wld listen every night to pray while falling asleep. May God bless you for your work! "His Word is a lamp unto our feet abd a light unto our path"!! 🌷🕊🙏🌈🕊

I pray that the Orthodox and Catholic Church see the evil they are committing by praying to the Virgin Mary more that the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately the prayers to the Virgin Mary who is the saint above all saints and prayers on behalf of us has become the center of all Orthodox and Catholic prayer. She is called the mother of God and yet Our Lord and Saviour Jesus did not call her mother. She is the bearer of our Saviour but not God or his mother.
I pray all Protestants to see the false doctrine they are in and repent and come home to the True Church ( Orthodox or Catholic)! 🙏
isn't this 49 by the Septuagint numbering
Yeah, but I started using the NKJV for consistency
@@orthodoxchristianprayers oh, so that's why it sounds off to me. the holy transfiguration monastery psalter is the one that i always use at home, since it's what we use in the liturgy. it's a much prettier sounding translation. i do love psalm 49 though since it's God directly talking some sense into the Israelites (they didn't listen).
Bless... Glory to God for ALL things 🙏 🕯 xxx
