If you're making real life pattern make sure to check the original instructions from the book in commentary link. Maybe try other methods, I have recorded a lot of pants block, each one from different book.

@@13luearchive In tailoring, especially for woven fabric and formal attire, the sleeve-cap is made longer than armhole, for better shape, comfort and mobility. This different amount is called the "sleeve cap ease". You can omit or reduce the ease for stretchy fabric, or baggy clothing. Or do whatever you want coz in 3D you don't have to worry about comfort as long as it looks good.

@@13luearchive Jacket and coat armhole are pretty long so they can absorb the excess. Also, the puckering from sewing the excess is a desired design feature in real life, and also in 3D to make it more realistic.

@@13luearchive Most garments only need 1 to 3 cm. 3 to 6 cm for jacket coat. But I personally add more sometime as a matter of design choice.

Use "edit curvature" tool (shortcut C) to change line into curve. Switch to "edit pattern" tool (shortcut Z) after you make the curve to reveal the bezier handles. However, if you use "edit curve point" tool (shortcut V), it will not be a bezier curve so no bezier handle will show up.

@@ThomasPOV What other softwares I can use? It is impossible to drape the pattern I drafted in 3D software like blender or Maya. I have access to software like Vstitcher, but MD/Clo is more widely used for people outside of fashion industry. Style3D is solid alternative and I'll be using it too. All of them actually suck for pattern drafting though. I spend most of time using Seamly2D to draft the basic block.

Draw the sloping line (waistline) equal the amount, and touching the top. You don't have to be exact. Plus minus 0.3 cm acceptable

@@Najdmie But you made it 20.66, was that a mistake? its more than 0.3 error.

​@@kanta6779It is a mistake, about 1 cm less. Not a big deal in 3D, but it will be a bit tight in real life because the mistake reduce the total waist ease from 4 cm to 2 cm.

@@shook3153 This is Clo, not MD but I will not completely switch to Style3D mainly because my client wants the Clo zprj file. Actually, style3D has more useful feature for me than MD, it is like MD with some additional Clo features but without the AI stuff. As a pattern drafter though, Style3D is currently a bit lacking because it lack snapping and hates bezier curve. But I will still continue to use Style3D sometimes, as long as the free tier continue, or when I can afford it.

@@DebbiNofriardi For MD/Clo CPU is more important than GPU, probably because they want to accommodate Mac users. It run OK with the latest i3/r3 as long as you got SSD and plenty of RAM. Their GPU simulation is fast but crappy. I suggest latest i7/Ryzen7 + SSD + 32 GB RAM + RTX 3060 12 GB so that you can multitask and use it for gaming and other 3D programs.

I sometime use Clo with Intel laptop with Iris graphic but. It run OK because it has latest i5, SSD and 16 gb RAM. But I cannot use the GPU simulation. Don't know about Intel Arc desktop GPU, Clo website only mention Nvidia, not even AMD.

@@splitspecs I always prefer Clo instead of MD mainly because I also sew in real life now, you can't even export the pattern in MD. MD competitor is Style3D Atelier, while Clo competitor is Style3D studio. I like Style3D Atelier because it the cheapest (legal) option among them, it even has free tier. But I will continue to use Clo because my clients want the zprj file. You can read my reviews about Style3D Atelier linked in the description.

Definitely some adjustments are needed in real life. I tend to use less ease in 3D because the avatar don't need comfort.

These measures are pretty standard and you can find explanation on them all over the internet and pattern making books. But they are variation on the term and how they are measured. I'll do a write up about it later especially on the measures I use.

Because elastic band in real life is always cut slightly shorter than the fabric. You don't have to reduce it in 3D, I just want to emulate real life technique whenever possible. You can skip making the band by using binding tool instead. Also in real life the waistline is not retracted because the band is sewn by folding it, but I always try to avoid folding or additional layer in Clo.
