Turns out there are a few different variations on how to remove the starter. Mine came out above the frame rail, but I had to remove the transmission dipstick and unbolt and move the brake line. Even then it was defit a jigsaw puzzle to get it out! But not impossible!

Once you have it out, replace the solenoid and contacts for about 25.00. js Good to go. :D

I have a 03 Tacoma with this motor and holy shit. There is no room to work. I removed the trans dipstick pipe which helped but it was still a pain. And idk why but my bolts for the starter would start and get about half way in and then get harder to turn. But they weren't cross threading.

I live on this road and it is closed. It is only accessible to local traffic and those who live on the road.

Fuck that top bolt. It almost made me set the dam truck on fire and cut my losses 😂

FYI: In Tennessee, and in the US in general, the waterway has to be navigable (by boat, from point to point - not just a section that you could float a boat in) to give a non-property-owner (guest) right-of-way. If it's not navigable, you are technically trespassing, and unless you are on public lands, if you are standing on the bottom of the creek, you are definitely standing on someone's private property.

aye mate, i own a 97 prado absolute mint condition just recently i had to change the starter as i took it down to Tasmania old telly track. Got stuck in some deep water and yeah had to change it so thanks for the help mate cheers.

Me and 2 others walked this road back in 1999 starting at the northern side just passed Washer Rd. & ending at the southern part in the Bells Branch area. I recall 3 creek crossings that the road dropped straight off which made it impossible to drive. I saw that you said that there was a bridge over one crossing but did they fix the other ones?

I'm looking to host a project for a large company in Smyrna (you can guess who) and thought this might be a nice simple road to do a cleanup project and maybe get some signage on the water crossings that says to cross only, don't play in the water. The water looked so clear and beautiful! Thanks for doing your part and Protecting the Adventure so roads like this stay open for all to enjoy.
