Climbing in Taghia Marrocco in the spring of 2024 - La Rivieres Pourpres
Climbing amazing big walls and steep lines in Taghia Marrocco in the spring of 2024 - The amazing hard classic "La Rivieres Pourpres" (500m 7b+) being one of them, spending two days on the wall in a portaledge. (Not Necessary is you're strong enough to do so much hard free-climbing in 1 day)
(A French hip-hop artist used in the video prevented the video from being streamed so I had to replace one of the songs. Original was better but this will do...)

Wilderness in Jotunheimen National Park Norway during winter. Great friends, great views en great times! Anyoing life in between melting snow for food and water, sleeping in probably beyond the -25 c barrier and stamping through knee deep snow or breaking snow on top of a 10km long lake. Good times!

Sick video, thanks for posting!
Awesome, this was always on my bucket List, but never managed to develop my trad climbing skills enough
Good memories.
Spectacular 🥰 awesome beautiful fantastic amazing outstanding vlogging climbing and scenery, all the very best.
I've just finished reading "Feeding the Rat" by Al Alvarez and the book finishes up on the Old Man of Hoy, so I thought I'd see what it looks like. Great video, congratulations!
Impresionante
Rad video guys, it sure got me stoked for the upcomming summer!! Im lucky to have kvaløya as my "home crag", hehe. What route did you do on Helvetestinden? Again, nice work on the video, thanks for sharing!
Bellissimo filmato!!!
Awsome video lads. Looks like a grea trip.
This is where part of the video was filmed for HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN- The Eurythmics
since the old man of hoy first live broadcast it looks like its lost the top portion of the stack in some storm ? were it once taller? maybe its just been reshaped in 60 years.
Great, and great music !
Wow, well done guys, I was there few weeks ago, it’s some height, it was bad enough just looking at it from the cliffs never mind climbing it. Total respect to you all 👍🏼
Your fucking insane dude :D Well done!
In welke maand was deze trip?
Mooie tocht zeg. Konden jullie met sneeuwschoenen alleen op platte vlaktes lopen of hebben jullie ook wat toppen kunnen doen. Welk gebied zaten jullie precies. Ik wil er in maart ook heen
classic drew down grade comment at the end. nice.
Nice!
I visited wadi rum last year and had an amazing experience! I had not started my rock climbing journey and now that I have I'm so sad I didn't realise where I was and the opportunities I had!!! I have to go back and this video has inspired me so much 😁😁😁😁
music is atrocious at the beginning I had to turn off the sound but video is great thank you
The music is what sets the tone.. Opgezwolle: Regendans.
Came for the climbing. Stayed for the fart and poop jokes.
Nice video! Whats the mountain and the last climb in the video called? What grade is it?
it is called Helvettestinden in the southern Lofoten. The grade of the route is 6b or 6c I think.
i was in wadi rum two summers ago for a weekend... since then ive been dreaming of returning to climb there
Awesome video. Can you comment on what kind of gear you had? did you need anything more than a #4 BD (i saw that somewhere in the video)?
We had a good rack from BD C3 00 till tile BD 4 ( a 5 Might be handy for Lion Heart...) We also had offset cams... which are AWESOME!
They say every man needs protection They say every man must fall (Alex Honnold excepted) Yet I swear I see my reflection somewhere so high above this wall . . . any day now, any day now, I shall be released.
Hello! I was hoping to make a trip out to Wadi Rum this winter for about a month to try my hand at the big walls. Was hoping to see if I could reach out and get some info from ya! Thanks! Benton.
Sure thing! Sorry for the late response...
Grilled Asparagus....really? Everyone knows you blanch it at Joshua Tree.
Nice to see our Wadi Rum guidebook in use and our climbs being done. Glad you enjoyed them - good video.
Dear Mr. Howard, your guidebook was amazing, you are actually the reason I went to Wadi Rum (I think it must have been around 1997), after seeing a BBC documentary about you (and your wife?) climbing here. Thank you!
Geert Goemans thanks for that. Great to see Rum rock being enjoyed by so many after our discovery in 1984, Tony and Di
It's a great guidebook though leaves some room for imagination and navigation.
which is exactly how it was written, not to rob the climber of a sense of exploration, which is part of the joy of climbing in Rum.
By the way, before doing any 'modern' routes up Jebel Rum East Face I recommend climbing and descending Hammad's Route first, as that's the way down for many East Face routes.
😅
One of the best climbing movies i have seen... Amazing
Very nice! Good to see they finally have bolts at belay stations :) We also got stranded at the top and had to spend a freezing cold night up there, but the coloring of the rock at sunrise made it all worth it!
Why do you need bolts? Respect Rum Rock, keep it clean, keep the 'wild' in wilderness.
Awesome video. I wonder if you can give any advice on the average cost of a trip like this? A friend and I are wanting to go December/January.
Life in Jordan is not cheap... but since there is not much to spend money on, its still cheap. Groceries are about the same as in Western Europe. Some things are cheaper. Alcohol is rare and expensive. Taxi from Amman to Wadi Rum is 100 Dinar. Dessert taxi to distant climbs (not many) is about 25 Dinar p.p. Accomodation is very basic and costs about 5 Dinar p.p.p.n. Have fun and be safe!
if you buy local food, bread, veg etc it's cheap. Bus from Amman to Aqaba about 7JD and bus from Aqaba to Rum only about 3JD. Camp at Rum or stay with local Rum Bedouin in the village or in their camps. See www.nomadstravel.co.uk/countries/jordan-wadi-rum/wadi-rum-guides/
welcome me local guide from wadi rum and me live there
Cool video, cool music and cool place guys!
alex honnold passing around... kool
Dude is so annoying....he's everywhere.
Nice suffer-fest. Such is big-wallin'.
John Tuttle ..... from Berkeley?
Lived there years ago.
Climb on....long live sunrise mountaineering..
great video! one of these days I'll find a climbing group haha
Nice one, mate. Hope you are doing well. All the best
Good thing it's forbidden to camp there... maybe you should actually read that guidbook...
Can you tell me the name of the first route? Looks very nice!
that should be "Laura's Stern" in the sector "arena"
www.geoquest-verlag.de/?q=node/76 Thats the german website where they sell them. They also (usually) sell the guidebook ik the locale gasstation in ettringen. Have fun!
hi, do you have a topo of etteringen? i'm goinig to climb there in may 2015 for training for Norway.
