And knowing how the show ended, Penny was correct in this case. I also think that Sheldon and Amy are good for each other. Yes, they have some bumps along the way, but they do work through them. I like that the show actually shows that being in a serious relationship is not easy, it is hard work. And for some, the hardship is visible to their friends who genuinely tries to help - even if the help often are, uhm, «misguided» in this show. :-) Greetings from Norway.

I don't have any college education but did graduate student level work in an orinthology lab. I was picking bugs out of clay nests made by cliff swallows for three days, six hours a day. Despite that she was working on this research for over ten years I discovered a bug that wasn't yet classified.

The joke of downplaying Howard's Engineering Masters comes only from Sheldon and it's not only on Howard, he mocks all engineers and this is further explained in the spin-off series called Young Sheldon. Spoilers ahead... One lf his teachers who was an engineer, gave Sheldon a problem to solve, every time Sheldon solved it the teacher told him he was wrong, then after Sheldon strugled with that problem, the time to deliver it was over, one of the few if not the only time Sheldon couldn't deliver his homework and it was all because he didn't take into consideration air friction. Also there was this time Sheldon arrived late to class and that teaher didn't let him in unlike his other teachers. That's why he downplays engineers.

One of the biggest personal factors in my decision to study neuroscience was my mother's life-long struggle with CH. I think it's important to illustrate how carelessly we use the terms headache or migraine to encapsulate many different illnesses. I feel that this is a perfect example of poor science communication. It's so deeply ingrained that a fucking neurosurgeon is very confidently and wrongly telling some stranger on the internet the "science" behind their personal headache. He doesn't use language like "you could be experiencing this because.." or "to my current understanding...". This language is important because migraine and headache disorders are not as thoroughly researched as they should be. Did you know that MS and CH have the same frequency, yet MS has 932 times the funding from the NIHS? This also parallels many different headache disorders. As scientists we need to say " I am not sure.", "we aren't entirely sure, but...", and "the mechanism isn't understood, however..." more often rather than dangerously watering down an already broad concept to the point of misinformation. I like that you used language clarifying that it was to the best of your knowledge and added footnotes to give more insight into other theories. Thank you for being so humble and communicative. Not only does good science community sow greater understanding; it saves lives, combats conspiracies and promotes well being.

This is a very fascinating video! There aren't many videos like this up on youtube, and this is something I'm curious about because my course mentioned art therapy as if it were an efficient and fully scientific therapy. I wonder if it would be more helpful to look at the neuroscience behind art/crafts in general, before then applying that reasoning to why it helps in the context of therapy.

Hello Morgan, Thank you so much for reviewing my film. I directed Gage about a decade ago, my wife and I had dinner one night and we got onto the subject of Phineas (she studied psychology) and I remember the story from highschool. It kept going around my head that I wanted to turn it into a film at some point and then years later I made it as my grad film from London Film School. So just to highlight some points if they are of interest, I did a lot of research about Phineas and reached out to some medical researchers and the archive at Harvard. After all of this I realised a couple things, Phineas' story is too big for 14 minutes, lol but I had to try. The second is that after visiting the Neurological hospital in Putney London and meeting the very generous doctors and patients I realised I wanted to include a broader range of other people's neurological journey into this story, but still hitting the high points of Gage's story, which you point out. My key hope was tell a story which draws people to do their own research around Phineas and millions of life like his that have been affected by neurodisabilities (is this still the correct term?). I also centered the key change around Dr. Harlow, because him finding the courage to protect Phineas from those that don't understand or don't care about his trauma was more of an achievable character arc in the short time frame. Anyways, thanks again for reviewing, you make films and you never know how people have received your work beyond a like or a couple word comment on youtube. By the way you taught me something new, I didn't realise Dr. Harlow's wife kept a journal, I will have to check that out. Cool tattoo! All the best, Keith

I think it's important to point out those kinds of "scientific" and "medical" experiments were done without any sort of justification on POWs and civilians alike (notably by Germans on Jews and Japanese on Chinese during WWII), except those victims were human and didn't have plot armour or vampiric healing abilities. They'd sew people together just to see what happens. Remove their various organs. Inject them with nasty chemicals. Etc. All without anesthesia of course. If you could find a way to die that'd be much more merciful, except they'd use medical advances to specifically keep you alive. It really wasn't that long ago. Even early psychological experiments were brutal, and those were done on American volunteers. Ethics boards are super modern but you don't need to be a lone psychopath to get away with this kind of stuff...you would have had full institutional backing depending on the era/your connections.

Hello. I'm from middle east of asia.and I'm 13 years old Since I was a kid I have always imagined myself as a doctor in future. So I decided to read books more relevant to becoming a doctor;books like on becoming a doctor, the history of nursing, medical dictionary, the doctor' heart cure, the good doctor and so on. I have earned two " applied anatomy of the locomotor system " certification related to anatomy field and one certification bout neuroscience from edx and udemy site online courses and currently I am attending the neuroscience reconstructed :genetics and development course on edx and at the same time I am very fond of learning German language, because that can help me to become an expert in reading medical articles from German. I dropped out from my school because school could harm and delay my time to reach my goals as I planned for. But unfortunately never have I ever had the opportunity to extend my career in universities or meeting excellent and experts to guide me through this journey of mine .therefore I don't know what way should i take to create my destiny as I have always imagined. Can you help me out with this problem please 🙏 😔

How is it homophobia to be a heterosexual person and not wanting someone of the same sex touching you in semi-intimate areas. I’m allowed to be comfortable with who touches me. I don’t have a problem if a person is gay but that doesn’t mean I wanna be touch by someone I’m uncomfortable with. You have sexual preferences on who you have physical contact with during sex why can’t I have preferences on who can have physical contact with me?
