Introduction to Scent Work Lesson 6 Puppy Gibbs 15 weeks
Today we are added a new odor! We added Anise to the Birch we have been working finding. This exercise also helps build Drive back up because the rewards will come faster then they were working the big areas for one odor. We then move on to having two odors in one spot and rewarding both of them.

In this lesson we move outside which provides even more challenges than inside with a controlled environment. We now have wind to contend with and sounds that might be distracting. Here we reinforce what we learned before but then we’re increasing the challenge by making the odor only assessable through the seams of the object that it is placed, which is a bowl.

I thought the outside odor was perhaps residual but after all of the dogs hit on the same spot over and over and over I am 100% certain that it was odor that was pooling from the rake. There was more air movement inside than I realized. I didn’t push Keyla to search behind the desk as I don’t like dogs getting tangled up in computer or electrical wires often associated with desk. My bad. I thought there were more hides but she also gave up. So had to call it.

In this video, you will get to watch three different dogs with three different styles do exactly the same run and see what challenges each dog has and what successes they have. There’s converging odor here and there’s a couple high high as well. But for the most part, it is a practice in wet conditions. The odor had been aged an hour before we started.
