Man Rescued From Cliff Fall - Scarborough
This is a report of the rescue of a man who fell 300 feet onto the sea shore near Hayburn Wyke, Scarborough. He was stranded for 2 days before he was spotted by the Scarborough Fishing Boat - Courage. With the help of other local fishermen, and boat owners, he was rescued and made a full recovery.

AI SCARBOROUGH FAILS

The latest bit of experimenting that I am doing with group photos is seeing if they can be animated. I can animate a lot of things using specialist software (CT5 Pro) and an awful lot of time. AI software is now available where you upload a picture and get the program to do something with it. Sometimes the results are not bad but most times they are pretty weird. You often have to take at least...

This is an edited version of the footage I took of the Red Arrows display August 2013, Scarborough. I filmed this while balanced on a roof in Longwestgate! The music is an instrumental cover of a Simple Minds song - me playing the guitar parts. Some amazing footage of these guys weaving all over the old Castle and south bay. To get the best effect - play it loud! :)

It's a long shot but my dad was called david john brown did anyone knew of him just would like to get more stories of his younger days and growing up please.
This was such a fun watch.
LMAO MUTANT SPAGHETTI

Love Scarborough every year bed and breakfast, peasolm park, outdoor pool, warships in the park gift shops, rides in the fifty’s it was magical 😘
If I wanted to come visit from the USA where would you recommend I fly into and travel to Holy Island and stay for a bit ? I looked at the Google sponsored ads but your video is the best video I've seen so far I trust you more than Google!
They will just have to impose fines for people who cross out of official hours.
Every kid from scarborough born in the 70s will look back at this and remember the fun. Boyes christmas Party photo brought back memories. Searching for coins under the Pier Messing around in the grave yard. Messing around the castle Crime prevention league footy in the summer lates 70s and early 80s fun :) Getting runners from gilley's (the fun had by annoying the staff) Great vid alot of memories!!!!
Thank goodness he decided to be in a rock band and we have his legacy to enjoy forever! RIP dear Mick. ❤😪💔
Beautiful 🥰
I remember my dad ( born 1923) saying he used to skate on the Mere- must have been in the 1930’s. His family had a milk round based somewhere near Westwood, so thank you for this little video. My dad- Raymond ( or Paddy) Waterhouse and his brother George both played in the Scarborough football team in the 1940’s and we have newspaper cuttings somewhere of the team lined up looking very proud!
These people who get stuck while crossing off or onto holy island when the tide is coming in, should be fined heavily, because they need to be rescued by the lifeboat Which in turn takes a lot of time and money to rescue these silly people. The timetables Of the tide times,Which tell you ,the times of a safe crossing on and off holy island, are not Put there for fun ,They are put the so you can stay safe while going off and onto holy Island. Please be sensible and stay safe😊
There is an error in my video - Cousins Garage wasn`t at top of Westborough as shown (Goods radio shop) - It was further along corner of Hanover Road and Westborough ( about opposite the train station.
I never thought about the tides not being linear - that's interesting. This was a really entertaining video, thank you
there is no accounting for stupidity.
Gee, have they ever thought of making a real bridge?
It would ruin the scenery. It's beautiful and natural the way it is, the way it always has been
I went there to see Gene Pitney he was amazing think Freddie Starr played there as well it's so long ago ill maybe Google it see if it co.es up with owt xx
Hi Steve, we were there on 21st August and were told of an incident the day before. Everyone’s aware of the tides as it’s posted in the two car parks so most people give it about half an hour before to start back, however the big car park tends to get busy and if you’re in the wrong lane you have to wait till everyone else has exited before you can go. So the last people out are already under pressure to get off the island . This isn’t normally a problem as everyone’s going the same way. However the day before us, there was an accident at the railway crossing on the shore side about half a mile up the road. A tractor had skewered itself and hay bails on the crossing bar and had become stuck fast.the police were called but we’re on the wrong side of the crossing as the cars coming off the island couldn’t get past and we’re starting to queue Up. It didn’t take long till the queue , which was not moving, was as far back as the refugee in the middle. Apparently the police had phone to get someone on the island to stop more cars jointing the queue, and hotfoot it past the queue to direct all the cars queued up into the car park of a restaurant to let the cars on the crossing get off it. . But the time they did that the queue was on the other side and the water was starting to lap across the road at the lowest point. Thus was the interesting sight of policemen encouraging cars to divert off the road and go into a car park they didn’t want to get stuck in. One policeman was parking them so close they were nose to tail and not able to get out as the next car was 30cms away. Then they had to encourage the drivers behind to ignore the speed limit to get them up and off the road so the ones who could not reverse off the causeway had to make a dash for it. They only just made it getting all the traffic off the road as the wash was getting bigger by the minute. So leave in plenty of time would be my advise.
Hi, just a quick reply to some idiot comments --- my Late Father designed and built the causeway many years ago to allow vehicles and alike to cross the sands by a roadway to further developed tourism to the Island ---- knowing full well it was tidal! ---- The causeway was never designed to be used at high tide ! --- hence the crossing times -- if you ignore the crossing times or try to cross when the tide is on the turn and therefore coming in ---- its your fault --- nobody else's fault ---- Go and Enjoy this beautiful Island in safety by playing by the rules.
You can't cue thick and anyone driving through after ignoring the tide times deserves everything they get. And a very big fine to pay for the rescue should be dished out
Brilliant video and commentary. How stupid can some people be?!
I remember as a kid on holiday with my gran mam and brother, sailing our white star yatchs on the model boat pond! Is it still there? as I went to Scarborough peasholm park earlier this year (2024) and couldn't remember where it was 😢 we used up have a brilliant time! Simple times and wholesome fun!
Wow, magnificent looking hotel 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉,
Beautiful photos, thank you for sharing👍😎
That’s mint bud
we were lucky with the lights - had no idea that they were due to appear. It was the shooting stars that we were hoping to see - huge bonus for us to see the lights :) I took a load of pics on my phone but, cos its new, I didn`t figure out how to work the night shots!. I keep pressing something and was sure the images had been saved but they had not. To be fair - apart from the new phone I also have my hand restricted cos just had surgery :) Just so glad that our friend managed to get some pictures :)
great stuff :)
Wow. Loving all these videos of my town. Thank you.
Thanks for your efforts to make this video. It is really good information. 🙏
I was there with family in October 2022 and just loved the place but I was very shocked at the state of the public toilets they were putrid so we had to go to the pub and buy a drink before they would let us use the toilets.

No way.... I was only here a few days ago , but I did a wild camp 🏕 😊
That's great, you got our VW transporter (Betzy) on your vid. Parked up for 2 nights all paid for and use of our own loo to see the Spanish Galeon!👍🏼
Very pleased to see you enjoyed your stay :) You picked a great week - weather was brilliant :) Hope you come back and see us again - more than welcome :)
@@stevemessruther172 It was a fantastic weekend, thank you x
hahahaha good one :)
Brilliant love it 😂😂😂
Walked past all these last night, the American rig looked amazing, but wouldn’t want to have to pay for the five parking spaces it took up! Hopefully they were away before nine in the morning. 🤞
Love it
Brilliant memories. We visited the north bay every july from Glasgow between 1963 and 74. Stayed in Mr's Websters B & B on Scholes Park Road ? Am going back next Saturday for a few days on our way home from Cornwall.
I love how you combined all these images together, linked by the music. And the end: 😂
Thank You :) It was fun top do!
Thank you. This was wonderful to see. I grew up in 70s 80s here. Loved it. Always down South side,or up near the Castle. Swimming in North Bay pool or exploring Peasholm. Oh and Zoo and Marineland... The dinosaurs 😂😂
They should build that road higher and make it into a bridge 🌉.
Why???? Why ruin this natural area with a bridge just because some folk don`t know how to drive.
Can you pay for it please ?
Last month whilst on holiday in the UK from Australia, I took my grand kids to Scarborough to show them where I, as a toddler dug on the sands and had cruises on the "Caronia" and "Thornwick Bay" if I remember their names correctly, while an old sea dog played "Anchors Away" on an accordion. Back in the 21st century, the weather was atrocious, but we all loved the day. Thanks for the memories.
Thank you for the comments : Yes - back in the 1950s and 1960s Scarborough was a smashing place to be -things have changed, mainly due to travel abroad but we still have the fantastic beaches and scenery. I don`t remember the Thornwick bay but we did have 3 boats that were a regular feature of the harbour, taking trips up and down the coast. Coronia, Regal Lady and Yorkshire lady.
Great video - interesting - but prefer it when you are narrating… those automated voices and bots are really annoying 😫
I started to use them because they pronounced words far better than me - but I then figured that if I do a take with them speaking I can then use their voice as a guide for myself. Well that was the plan :) I agree that the voices are a bit annoying, mainly because there is very little emotion. I used male and female to try and break it up a bit. When I started this series I used what I had available but since then I have learnt a lot and also gained more experience with better software. One big advantage now is that I use a field recorder for my voice. That then gets synced up to the camcorder which allows me to talk without all the wind noise and pops and crackles that you often get from a camcorder/phone microphone. You will be pleased to know that they are being pensioned off :)
Lovely video
On one of my clips someone - from Scotland - decided to make really negative comments and he seemed to think that I am putting Scotland down. That is not the case, I was supporting Scotland during their games and wanted them to win. They played some awful football and it was a shame for the fans and the team that they did not get to the last 16. England also played pretty crap but we have managed to get to the last 16 - we got further than our friends in Scotland. It`s that simple, there is no malice intended, England played crap and we got lucky that is why we are in the last 16. There have been a lot of teams who have just not turned up when it mattered - Italy for example. It`s football, shit happens.
So good
Thanks - Glad you like it. Hopefully the team will play better tonight and who know - we could perhaps get to the semi`s.
The fuck you say about Scotland
Only 2 UK teams started in the competition, England and Scotland - both have been shite. Scotland got knocked out and England are still there - so we have got further than you.
