Texas Slam Kayak Fishing in Port Mansfield!
Today I decided to fish the unique bay system of Port Mansfield. This is the first trip post hurricane Beryl, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from the fish. Well, my concerns were quickly put to rest, Port Mansfield provided an elusive Texas Slam! Tight lines, and live that Laguna Life!

Today I decided to give the famous Z-Man Elaztech a shot in the Lower Laguna Madre. I saddled up the kayak and took two lures: diezel minnowz, and paddlerz, out to chase some trout and reds. After fishing all day with one lure, I am a believer! I caught easily over 20 trout without having to change my lure out. Zman is all I use in soft plastics
Yeah they’re slowly becoming a favorite of mine. What do you use in paddle and how do you rig?
Mostly the 4” using the pro bulletz in 3/16-3/4 oz which is a great weedless setup and occasionally the trout eye also 3/16-3/4 oz. and chinlocks as my other weedless option
4” and 5” Diesel minnows

What are your set ups bro? What kind of rod do you recommend for lures?
For my soft plastics I use a 7’ light fast action Vega Rod with a 2500 shimano stradic. 20lb power pro and 20 lb fluorocarbon leader. Usually I throw a 1/8 oz salty head jig. That rod is perfect for any soft plastic bro.
@@lagunalifefishing how about for the hard plastic? Or top water?
@@arturoalvarado2252 for topwater or Corkys I use a 6’8” medium moderate action rod. You want a little stiffer blank for pulling those hard baits through the water and the added weight. I use Vega rods but if you’re trying to get one on a budget the Falcon rods Coastal series are great too.

Too much in the middle of the plastic. Rig the hook higher up on the bait (closer to the spine of the bait) to get more hook exposure and better hookups.
