มุมมอง 853 หลายเดือนก่อน
Normally, the legendary Becky Anderson does her show, Connect the World, from the CNN studio in Abu Dhabi. But this week, she's doing it from the much bigger (and much nicer!) studio in London. Shame it's not done from there all the time... This is the intro to the second hour, at 3pm London time (4pm Berlin, 6pm Abu Dhabi).

A day on from the historic British general election, Richard Quest talks about the change in government, and the change in the Labour Party since the previous election. Then he rings his bell, says goodbye, and at 1:30 we go to The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer... except it's not Wolf Blitzer today, but Pamela Brown, who is discussing calls for Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race....

BBC World - Sport Today - 11 September 2001
มุมมอง 1424 หลายเดือนก่อน
The 1345 BST edition of Sport Today on BBC World, broadcast on Tuesday 11 September 2001. Presented by Rob Bonnet. This is a bit different to my usual uploads - this time I've uploaded the whole programme, plus all the presentational bits before and after. Two reasons for this: 1) At about 11 minutes in, the on-duty news presenter (Nisha Pillai) appears to break the news of a plane crashing int...

Couple of curios: This was a week into the new European Breakfast strand on BBC World, that ran from 5-8am London time. The first hour, which was also broa...

Bit of fun (if you can call it that!) from CNN - about 15 seconds of dead air before Richard Quest comes back on to finish Quest Means Business with the night's Profitable Moment... then Quest attempts to walk off set and we crash into a special edition of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

Can you upload full hour of this if you still have it?
This is all I have, I'm afraid. I may have some more BBC World stuff in the future, though, so do watch this space!
News tomorrow.........
It's almost spooky watching this, isn't it? Knowing just what would unfold in the hours ahead...
Brilliant capture. Phillip Hatton seemed subdued. The US insert not seen before. The break filler sequence simply 10/10. Odd that they trail Asia Business Report (except Europe and the Americas), but it is Hardtalk that is “Coming Next”.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. RE: Hayton seeming subdued... I didn't quite see that. Maybe he was just tired? It was midnight, after all! I'd never seen the US insert either. It's interesting because back then, only a few cable systems carried BBC World - it didn't become widely available there until 2006. Before then most Americans could only see it through bulletins broadcast on PBS and BBC America. My understanding is that trailers were played out centrally from London, with no differentiation between regions, which is why it would so often say 'except for viewers in [continents]'. And yes, that breakfiller is sublime. If they can dig up that World Today theme, surely the breakfiller music can come back too?
@@teeveestuff Viewers in the UK are now treated to World-esque break fillers on the News Channel now, with various re-used elements from BBC countdowns. It’s an improvement on what they had before, but I’d love them to re-use this sequence entirely! It’s rare that a whole package like that is so 100% right from day 1, and it still holds up 23 years later.
Bye, bye, Terror TV.
That's a bit much. I agree it's gotten really biased lately, but for years it was an amazing news channel - probably the best in the world. But yes, standards there do seem to have slipped recently. I think closing the London studio was a mistake.
@@teeveestuff Some years ago, AJ was a great channel to learn about the other side and alternative opinions. But now it is just unbearable agitprop, to say the least.
Why 'cause is not aligned with Israel? Or it's more dissident?

One month after London Tonight/Today changed their titles and graphics sequences to tie in with the revamp of ITV's national news programming. Not to mention London Weekend Tonight/Today. Later on in 1999, Mary Nightingale began working for ITN, the producer of ITV's national news programming for the ITV network.
I loved Laura Greene!!!! ❤❤❤
Wow for 1998 it is a very playable recording
Thanks I love anything to do with London
I don't remember So Rahman on London Today/Night...was he on loan from Granada or something??! Seemed to have the right personality for the show though.
He must have been freelance, so presumably would have been able to go between Granada/LNN as needed. He's with Al Jazeera now.
@@teeveestuffi remember So on Granada(its my itv region)
I miss that look/theme so much! Seemed more catchy and fast paced like London is… Bumped into Mr Stewart earlier in the year and remarked that I enjoyed him presenting London Tonight back in the day, he smiled and responded with “Ah! Distant past. Glad you remembered!”
Mad to think it's been 13 years since he left that programme. And nearly 20 years(!) since they left the South Bank...
@@teeveestuff 18 years in 2022 since London Today/Tonight left the South Bank. I hope you do have the final week of London Today/Tonight before they took the ITV News look and the final week of London Today/Tonight from the South Bank . I know the other host of London Today Paul Green was axed as part of the shake up
Thanks so much this upload is brilliant
Thanks a lot for this upload
