I'll explain why, of all the cameras I've tried in recent years, the Lumix G3 is one of the ones I liked the least.

Why don't I like the Lumix G3?
I think the Lumix G3 is a poorly made camera. Aimed at a consumer audience that wanted something better than a point and shoot, but not with professional intentions.
Despite its small size, it is a very heavy model. I prefer small and very portable models, but as light as possible. This one is a "brick".
The weight is fine, but what really bothered me was the absence of almost all manual controls. We had already seen this in the GF2 and from my point of view it is a problem. To change each parameter you need to go into the main menu or the Quick-menu and this slows down work a lot. The only ring present is in an uncomfortable position.
I can understand that more than ten years ago the touch-screen technology was innovative and that it allows to reduce costs by eliminating physical controls. But for me it is a no.
What can it be used for?
Using it as a simple advanced point and shoot can make sense. I used it with the Panasonic “intelligent-Auto+” mode, in other words completely automatic. Using the 12mm F2.5 lens I managed to shoot the video review of the camera itself. On the other hand it already has stereo microphones, but the video in 1080 is only interlaced and not progressive. In short it is not the best quality. Furthermore the format is AVCHD which is now outdated.
The image remains of good quality, both for photos and for videos. The 12 megapixels of the micro4/3 sensor does its job, while the battery does not last very long.
Webcam?
I was hoping that this model already had a clean HDMI output, but unfortunately it can only be used to play videos and photos already present on the memory card. It also has a second USB-AV connector, but I was only able to use it to connect the camera to the PC to download files.
Final thoughts
As you know, I always try to find something good and also use equipment from a few years ago. However, I find this camera really not very functional and practical. The format itself is a "middle ground" between the most modern and the older models. The grip is not as comfortable as the Lumix G7 or G80, but it is not as small as the GF1 or GM1 either.
