Ernie Harwell on This Morning WDIV - July 4, 1978
Legendary #DetroitTigers radio announcer Ernie Harwell appears on WDIV's This Morning show with Cathie Mann and Bill Ratliff. Harwell talks about the controversial national anthem performance of Jose Feliciano at the 1968 World Series. And we see film of that performance and hear from Feliciano, too. Harwell also reveals that he is the only announcer ever involved in a baseball player trade.

Mr. Garvey Calls Out Bignotti

I got a big laugh when Paramount recently used a takeoff on the Substitute Teacher skit from comedy duo Key & Peele in which a teacher stubbornly insists on non-traditional pronunciations of students' names to promote their streaming service. And when I heard my name mentioned in the roll call... well, I just had to participate through a little video magic.

Man, I miss BP.
Interesting that Donnie Allison is shown at 2:27 in the garage, wearing a fire suit. But his last race of any kind was in 1988. Either that was some old footage or perhaps Donnie was testing a car for Davey, Bobby or Hut?
I want to ride that simulator
it was bad to the bone
Love the old commercials
Thank you!
Booooo i wanted dick trickle to get it so bad
3:45 out of curiosity, do you have any more footage from the Sportsman races at Charlotte outside of the highlights shown in these shows?
Love It
GOLD, JERRY!
Gold
You sure had a great job back in the day.I enjoy watching these..Brings back lots of memories..Back when Nascar was great. I still miss Davey Allison
Thank you!
Thank you!
The Winston was my first race!
Incredible stuff . Love it
Bobby Allison’s last world 600. And it’s only a few more races before he has a deadly wreck at Pocono
This is epic 😊
Hannah was hot and still is
Freaking Awesome
Awesome!
Come on Jerry We Need More Of These I’m not rushing you just love Racing
Thank You Jerry Looking Forward To More
Thank you! Thank you!
Man these are GEMS. Thanks for uploading these
These nacar uploads have brought me alot of joy watching. Much appreciated all the work that went into these videos!
❤
I hated those weird emmys with the square base. I'm glad mine are round.
Loving these local shows!
Hey Jerry Do You Have 1989 and 1990
I do but they're in a broadcast format that's tricky for me to convert to digital. I'll keep trying....
@ Can you send them to me somehow they are childhood memories of mine of Charlotte
What year is this
This originally aired in 1989.
Ah yes , the V6 era 😊
Thanks for the video work Doug.
I was at this race. Watch Dale come from 2 laps down to win was fantastic. Hearing Kyle cry just reminded me of why I stopped pulling for him! He forgot that Dale could have had a better entrance & exit time than he did! He also forgets how he caused Dale to spin out on the last lap of the Winston the week before before he sent Davy to the hospital!
Always loved the way ol’ Benny Parsons called a race. Great perspective from a driver’s point of view.
didn't realize hannah was so old. she's still a babe for someone that's got to be in her 50's
Hannah is 61 and still hot
Moroso was a great driver. Fans really liked him.
enjoyed watching this ,since i was only 34 at the time ! Retired last April. Jim Celania, great job ! Wish you were still on the mornining "sports Page" on 6.10 am now 92.7! Keep calling in, love to hear your old stories!
Hey Jerry How Many Of These Race Weeks Did They Do? Because I’m interested in seeing all of them
I'm working on digitizing and posting more. I produced specials for WCNC 1988-1993. I may not have all I produced, but I'll post what I can.
@ Thank You Bud
Hey Jerry! Can we get the 1989 and 1990 versions of Race Week
This is so awesome
If anyone has a Copy Of The Whole Race I would love to see it
If you can get the 1989 Edition I would appreciate that
Cool flashback in time…Was s scuba instructor at that time and really loved when I got students who took to diving like that..She might have become a scuba instructor to…but hope she kept her day job to support her being a diver 🌊🌞👌🏻👍🏻🤣
Love your video
When was this? I can't tell if this is news report or prerecording. I agree with Ken, that Aly's diver gear looks good and pretty with her scuba diving. Same with Ken's scuba diving with her.
This originally aired in 1989.
@@jerrybignotti Can you or not scuba dive?
That’s the NCTM, I go there!😊
How long ago was this? Definitely 80s!
This looks like late 80's, can tell by the gear (I got my open water cert in 82, instructor cert in 90, and taught for 15 years). Still diving today, some 40 years later. Hope Aly is still diving.
This originally aired in 1989.
Actually, the call letters were still WPCQ at that time of this clip. Channel 36 didn’t become WCNC until a year later 1989
