Number Plate Holder DELETE on 2010 Mazda 6 GH
Do you need the plastic number plate/license plate holder/frame on your front bumper? Is it legal to remove it? Where I live it isn't illegal, so I will remove it and let the hidden potential shine.

Did the same, but a bit simpler. I just removed the old plastic frame, cleaned the area an glued the number plate on with doublesided Scotch tape. Its insanely rigid, removing the plate will be a pain, but a thin nylon thread will do the job.
😅 Yeah, that will work too. Oh the Scotch tape is a beast, but for my application would be a total pain in the rear. Easier to unscrew 2 bolts than deal with that mess Every time I go to the airport I have to switch to standard, no 4D license plate. ( The automatic barrier doesn't open and you have to ring the support)
As soon as you opened the ashtray, I was like "put it in the ashtray!" :)
😅 Had the same idea. It doesn't fit anyhow. Not at the bottom or the side/ back of it. The hub is to big
thank you for this video thanks to you I know what my rim will look like on my 6 I have an identical car with the same rim but the rim is in the original color
You are welcome. I wouldn't bother painting if the rims aren't damaged or looking ugly. 😅
@KlavsX_ in my case the rims, as in Mazdas, the original paint on the alloy wheels has degraded and looks poor
Then yeah, it's time to refresh them. Just a tip, Do sand off the old paint from the rims, as there could be problems if you shoot new paint on top of the failing paint.
Well done. You found it difficult to insert piston straight in because the hydraulic line was connected causing back pressure in th cylinder body. Remedy...1. loosen off bleed screw from new slave unit before starting, 2. insert the actuator with boot correctly fitted into cylinder of the new unit (compression of actuator rod into cylinder will be easy as no hydrolics connected yet plus bleed screw is open). 3. Install the pair of 12mm bolts complete new slave unit with actuator and boot installed into position with the dome of the actuator rod sitting on clutch lever. 4.Connect hydraulics and then tighten bleed screw. 5. Bleed as normal. With the slave in position it is less likely to cause issues installing hydraulic hard line. I have done this job several times successfully on GG and GH Gasoline. Beware of fatigue cracks at clutch pedal bracket by the way.
Noted. Thank you for the info. It will be very useful to all of us 👍👌✌
Great video again and helped me a lot. Did your gearbox make any bad noises when driving it, and where did you get your mazda workshop manual for the torque wrench settings from please?
Glad this video could help 👍 No, it didn't make any sounds, the gear changes felt weird, that's all. I have a Haynes manual, (a book you can buy). Many bolts need specific torque and forums are a mismatch of numbers most of the time.
Yes just looked, surprisingly the Haynes manual is still available as book, not the new autofix online rubbish. Thanks
You are welcome. 👍 There is a digital version of the Haynes manual, but I prefer a hard copy
Hi Klavs, Your videos are very good and useful, as I also have GH. Would love to watch front and rear suspension rebuild or just the off and on installation video. What is still in the plan for me is to convert the trunk door to electric open-close. There are kits for this from Aliexpress. TH-cam on has a couple of videos, but I haven't found one specifically for Mazda yet. It would also be nice to be able to control it with its own remote control without having to carry a remote in your pocket yet.
Hi. Glad the videos can help. 👍 Suspension rebuild is in the plan. Once I have all the parts and the tools then I will record. I'm not really sure if they would work. You need to be careful how thick the struts are. There needs to be clearance between the tailgate and the strut. Electric tailgate sounds good, but research and measuring must be done. 😅 Wouldn't want to waste money on a kit that doesn't work.
The Aliexpress sellers ask for photo measurements, so it's irresponsible to order without nearly 450$. The only thing holding me back is how to program the remote to work with the factory remote. I would link to a shop(mikstoreph) that is not aliexpress, but youtube won't let me :( The one you find there I think would work with the GH.
😅 Yeah Links are banned on TH-cam. I would go for a 2020 to 2023 Mazda CX-5 electric struts, as they could be more compatible than random aliexpress. But as I mentioned, loads of measuring and researching has to be done.
Klavs - keep up the videos! I like the format of your videos. Tools, diagrams and torque specifications. Super helpful!
Glad you like the videos 👍

How do you take off factory roof racks? I have the same car please!!!!
If you are in a rush, check out the headline removal video. After that there are 4 bolts that hold on the roof racks. For me to make a full video I need extra materials and bits, to do it properly so the car looks standard
@ hey, could you drop a list of things ill need to cover the holes please?
cover what holes?
thank you so much for your videos I follow you from colombia best regards
You are welcome. Hope they help you out with your car. Oh, nice, greeting from UK.
Excelente 🎉🎉🎉
👍🎊
Nice job!!! you have picture a year later?
Thank you. Actually tomorrow I will record the 1 year latter video. Showing how it looks now
I love his whole everything 😅😂❤
Thank you
I can't believe the socket for the spark plug is only 10mm.
😅 I thought it would be like 12 or 14 like BMW's. Oh... how I was wrong 😂
Where did you buy the USB from? Can I get a link where I can get it?
The link should be in the description
I have a Mazda 6 2012 wagon like yours and I just bought a slim usb adapter with 2 ports and the cover still fits. So why go to all that trouble?
That port never worked.
Can't lie, I've asked that question as (well, I've only had mine for a month), but thanks for answering that. Appreciated
Glad this could help. 👍 I was going for 2 months w/o knowing this) 😅
No queda muy apretada la 6pk2300? he investigado y se supone debe ser la 6pk2305
No problems with the 2300 belt. Runs like a champ. 👍 You can use a 2305, as long as the belt doesn't slip or make squeaking noises 🤔
you'll make a killing if u use affiliate link to sell those lens covers
You would, apart from living in UK and having to pay for all that. 😅
I'd love a powerful gasoline engine on this one, runs forever
Plenty of space for a engine swap. But that would cost a lot 😅
Thanks so much. Just did my rocker cover seals with your video. Any chance of a video for the front shocks? 😊
Glad the videos could help you 👍 It's all planed in the future. ( front shocks, timing chain, front and rear seals, new clutch, new subframes) It all is in planning
dude why didn't you put some WD-40 around the fuel injectors? you have to take it out and clean it anyways after.
😅 Don't worry, I did. Even tried WD-40 specialist penetrant after the normal stuff didn't work. Had to edit almost all of that struggle out. 😂
Vēl ir ? kā kalpo ? Domāju mazā nākotnē tieši šādu paņemt
Pazinai, pardevu. Masina joprojam iet un kalpo, pagaidam nekads briesmigs servis nav bijis.
Thanks! Our Taigo Match arrives on Friday. I’m sure the match has adaptive cruise control which is a plus 😃.
👍 Awesome. Enjoy the car. I do hope it has, as that was the only downfall of the car. You can't cruse in autopilot 😅
How was the gear change after changing the oil , much better?
it ''feels'' smoother. Going in gear easier. It's hard to explain it without experiencing it 🤔
Love the videos! I asked you about removing the roof rails a while ago, will now ask you about the side mirrors - there seems to be a version of the GH with light diode blinkers on the side mirrors, think only in USA and JP. Do you think it would be possible to install side mirrors with blinkers on a version of the car that doesn't have them? I have no idea where to get that info from, apart from disassembling and inspecting the connectors of the side mirrors, but if it's possible I would say that is a good visual upgrade for the GH
The roof rail video removal is in the resource assembling stage, to a full roof rail delete video will be coming out in future. I don't see a reason why they wouldn't fit, only problem you will need to splice in one of the turn signal wires to activate the side mirror bulbs
@@KlavsX_ Excited for that video! I meant if the connector on the GH without side mirror bulbs would be ready for side mirrors with bulbs, without any splicing needed. Might disassemble and check it with a multimeter to find out (I have no idea what type of connector is even on there though)
The only problem is, the mirrors and how they attach to the doors '' should be'' identical. Only extras would be 2 or 1 wire for the turn signal. That is concerning the mirror itself. To power the turn signal on the mirror is a different story.
What a freakin pain. Mazda sure dropped the ball on this design.
😅 It is pain. Sadly not, the newest /2015 as far I know, is almost the same. But I could be wrong.... 🤔 I hope I am
To keep credit cards 😮😮
🤔 That's why cruise control exists? 🤔
I've got to do the rear calipers on mine, i've got a bleed kit, a Gunson eezibleed (if it fits the reservoir) from years ago working on my kitcar, where changed front calipers on that, but it's a bit different when it's your every day car. I've got a clamp too, for clamping off the lines to stop the fluid dripping out, but i've got a feeling these brake lines won't like being squashed.
😅 it all depends how old and mailable are the lines. IF they are hard and don't wanna bend, you can break them or split them. Best way is a fast swap, from old to new caliper, so you lose minimum amount of fluid
Better stick with Mazda. They know how to do it right. 😂😂
😏 You win some, you lose some, this BMW lost a lot. Mostly all the tension in the chain xD
6:51 the right button is not lane assist but for turning on and off the collision avoidance radar, the radar emitter is mounted on top of the front window under the rear view mirror. It also comes standard with a forward facing camera that is scanning the road profile so that the head lights that each emit 3 movable light beams who automatically follow the contours of the road with the foglight on the inside of the corner automatically turning on in tight corners for that little extra visibility. You can't blind an oncoming driver with an Avensis, it also comes with an auto high beam setting that cuts the high beam as soon as the camera spots an oncoming driver. (I own the 1.8l Sport Touring Avensis it also came with the full panoramic glass roof :))
Thank you for the info, that will explain most of the things I didn't catch. Awesome, I wanna a panoramic glass roof that is cool.
It works on my 2011 Mazda 6, except for DAB+. Does anyone have any ideas? Do I need to buy a special antenna?
Nice. For me I had to buy and splice in a separate module, that the head unit did come with
@@KlavsX_ Ok, thank you very much for the information. 😊 Dare I ask which splice you're buying?
You are welcome. I can't find the right one I bought, I searched on ebay DAB + amplifier box for android head unit. Should be a USB plug at 1 end and a antenna you can attach to the A pillar at other. The brand I got works really well
Great ! Thank you.😊
Perfect!
👌
A great detailed video 10/10. I recommend wearing a mask when you remove rusty stuff as it’s no good for you.
I usually have a fan blow on me / on the part I work, so all the ''crap'' flys away. ( As long as the fan isn't in the way for recording) 99% fan is in the way and doesn't help at all. 😅 100% correct rust, dust and w/e flys off the car parts isn't good for you or your lungs.
Cheers for the shoutout Klavs . Glad the pdfs helped :D
Thanks' for the PDF's they saved me from destroying the covers fully :D
Nice!
👌
Legend! can't wait to try this weekend, thank you!
Good luck and hope the plastic tabs will be kinder to you 😅
Liftback and Wagon have the same seat set-up, both front and back, hands the rear seatbelts are located in the seat itself.
Thank you for the info. 👍 This video will be useful for more people than just wagons owners 👌
This car is very idiot.😕
😅 They did over-engineer the estates
Hi Klavs, I have a Mazda 6 Atenza 2015 GJ model with the message "Keyless system malfunction" on my dashboard, what can I do?
Hi. I don't know about the GJ models, but you should plug in a scan tool to see the actual problem. ( trouble code) Keyless system have multiple sub-systems ( receivers, antennas, sensors, and more). Can be as simple as: the key battery is low to 1 antenna has gone bad. Without a scan tool, it's a guessing game
Please make a video on how to change the signal bulbs for front and rear. Thanks 😀
👍 That shouldn't be to hard
does the 3.7 have EGR?
Most modern cars have a EGR, that are petrol or diesel. EV and maybe older cars without emissions control don't have EGR's.
Hello! Do I need the same calliper piston set for brake job on the front side to push the pistons back? Thank you!
You can use the same, but make sure that No tabs are coming in contact with the piston. The tabs can damage the piston and you will need to replace the piston
Please be aware that if / when Klavs does this job, There are big differences between the, 4 Door Saloon, 5 Door Hatchback and what we have here, The Estate (Wagon).
100%, if I'm not wrong only Estates / wagons have the rear seatbelts in the seat
Klavs my friend. What is your aim with the seatbelt? If its just to clean then I would say dont go further with removing the backseat cover. You can use hot steam to remove any dirt from your seatbelt. I dont want to see you go through so much trouble just to be able to remove the seatbelt. Its not worth it really. Just my 2 cents. God bless you.
i will stop before i start :)))
😅 Can't lie, that did happen a couple of times for me, before I got to this situation.
I see you're stuck at the same point as me, mine is unfortunately broken so I need to remove it to put a new one in but unsure of how to remove the padding on the seat
Ah, so yours is damaged or just full with debris. I got you 👍
