So beautiful! As a student at the University at Buffalo, it was a joy to sing this piece for the first time and a real shame that we were not able to bring it into the world. With that said, thank God that it is now available for the world to hear, performed in the voice of a great composer and a brilliant choir :)

I recently found this poem, and it is a very beautiful poem. I feel that you did a wonderful job showing this beauty through your arrangement. It's a shame that more people don't know about this arrangement. If I had to choose any song to sing with my choir this spring, I would choose this one in a heartbeat.

As a Marine suffering from PTSD from endless deployments... I attended your Chattanooga concert with my Mother, you truly touched me with all you provided. I was sure to share it with my Professor, thank you for what you do Ethan, you have no idea the hearts you touch as damaged as this world can provide.

I sing with a large community choir which is currently singing this number. It is stunning! I can hardly sing it for the emotion that I feel. I've known this hymn for most of my life and never been moved by it. You made the lyrics brand new with this setting. Thank you for this beautiful gift.

Dr. Penner's expression of this wonderful combination of poetry and music was brilliant. But no more so than the brilliant text painting done by you, Ethan. This is my very favorite song that you have composed. I have tears on my face even now after hearing it performed so many times. Just lovely. Can't think of adequate words to describe what this song always does to me.

Lovely rendition! I am in the UUCB Buffalo choir - thank you for composing this for us. Sadly, Barbara Wagner suffered terribly from her stroke. Our new choirmaster is now Dr. Dan Bassin, who teaches and conducts at the University of Buffalo (as well as being an absolute musical genius). We are singing it again at service next week.
